White Widow & Bubba Kush Fem by Seedsman & Big Body Gelati Reg by Covert
Welcome All!!
Germinated 3 White Widow and 2 Bubba Kush Feminized Photoperiod seeds both from Seedsman.
Labeled each container with strains and dates
Put seeds on piece of paper towel cut to size of the small Tupperware container used.
Covered with another piece of paper towel
Gently dripped with filtered water until damp but no water running out if tipped on it's side
Covered with lid and sealed
Wrapped each container in a towel so no light could get to them and put inside the grow tent which was sitting around 70F-73F and around 70% humidity
They germinated really fast, just under 24 hours and already showing tap roots and 100% germination rate from all 5 seeds!
After they popped, prepped red solo cups with Build A Soil 3.0 Mix to plant them into
Put about half a gallon to 3/4 of a gallon of water into the sprayer, added a couple small drops of Therm X70 Yucca Extract as a wetting agent, a pinch of Horticultural Aloe Vera, and a pinch of Rootwise Mycrobe complete to the water, shook up, then wetted the soil in each cup until damp, made a small hole, added a tiny bit more Rootwise Mycrobe Complete, and placed each seed. Covered lightly and gave a few more drops of water from the sprayer. Set them under a dim 100W LED until they sprout.
Once they sprout and grow a few new leaves, they will be transplanted into their own 30 gallon Grassroots living soil fabric pots filled with Build A Soil 3.0, craft blend, Kashi blend, BuildAFlower Top Dress, cover crop, and barley straw mulch.
Thank you for taking the time to check out this grow!! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions.
They've been in solo cups for just over 1 week now and a couple have shed their seed shell but some are still clinging to theirs. Should all be free of their seed shell within a few days now. Got a little stretchy while preparing all of the big containers over the course of a few days being in less than ideal lighting but shouldn't be an issue now they are in a more ideal environment. Otherwise looking real green and healthy.
Originally was going to do one plant per container but just placed an order for some Big Body Gelati by Covert Genetics which I want to save 1 or 2 of the containers for so going to do the two Bubba Kush in one container, two White Widow in another, 1 White widow in 1 and then the Covert in the remaining. Might do two containers of Covert but still deciding while these last few shed their seed shell.
Going with four 30 gallon Grassroots Living Soil fabric containers all filled with Build A Soil 3.0 Mix (just under 4 cu. ft. per container) and most of the Build A Soil line of amendments/nutrients. All additions are Build A Soil brand unless stated otherwise.
Topped each with 1/4 cup of Craft Blend, 1/8 cup of Kashi Blend, a few handfuls of the Build A Flower Topdress, sprinkled with the 12 seed cover crop, and then covered it all with a couple inches of barley straw mulch.
All seedlings watered with dechlorinated tap water with 2-3 mL of Therm X70 wetting agent, 1 tsp of Rootwise Mycrobe Complete, 1 tsp Dry Aminos, 1/4 tsp Big 6 Micros + Humic Acid, and 1/4 tsp of horticultural Aloe Vera. (All measurements are per 1 gallon of water).
Should get the rest planted into the 30s from the cups in the next couple of days. Have an Eco Witt moisture meter in each container to monitor moisture pretty accurately. Trying to stay around 35% moisture, will water when it dips into the 25-30% range.
Got the humidifier running and am in the process of increasing the temperature. Target is around 75F-85F and 75%-85% humidity so VPD between .5 and 1. Should make it real easy on the young seedlings if can get into that target range. Sitting around .9-1 right now so looking good.
Thanks for following along!! All comments, questions, and follows/likes are greatly appreciated!!
Nice steady growth through week 2. The WW and BK that were planted into the 30 gallon containers already are looking very healthy. The remaining few are still in solo cups but will be transplanted soon. Only one WW has still remained somewhat contained in its seed husk. Going to see if it comes through and breaks free but decided against removing it by hand. If it does not make it, then it wasn't meant to. Will also make more room for the Covert Genetics seeds that just came in.
Using the EcoWitt moisture meter, every other day seems to be the watering schedule. Wait for the moisture to dip between 25%-30% then water up to around 35% in each 30 gallon container. The 2 that are unoccupied yet are still showing good cover crop growth and have been keeping them moist and inoculated with microbes to get them cycling nutrients and get that whole process going so that when the sprouts are planted, they will have an even easier time.
Every other watering adding the Therm X70, Aloe, and Rootwise Mycrobe Complete.
Thanks for following along!
Both plants are looking very healthy and growing strong
WW #1 in the 30 gallon has a unique leaf structure. Instead of like the Bubba Kush that has a more standard leaf structure, this White Widow has leaves coming in with only 1 "limb" if that makes sense. Not sure the scientific name for each part of the leaf but if you view the photos you can see what is being referred to. Wonder what effect this will have on the rest of the grow. Don't think I have seen that before.
BK #2 in the 30 gallon is looking the best out of them all. Very bushy and lots of leaves.
Have one more Bubba and one more Widow still in solo cups that I am going to be giving to my friend since I am using the remaining 2 thirty gallon containers for some Big Body Gelati from Covert Genetics. Waiting to sex those before putting into the 30s. Will most likely do a diary of those, have been keeping a journal but want to wait til they are sexed before starting a diary in case they are males. The 2 plants in solo cups are looking healthy albeit suffering from a little stretching.
Every other watering they receive the 2.5 mL/gal Therm X70, 1/2 tsp Rootwise Mycrobe Complete, and the 1/4 tsp Aloe Vera. Plain water on the other waterings. Usually water them every other day or 2 days at most. This seems to be the rate at which they require water according to the Eco Witt.
Once per week topdressing around the base of each plant in the 30 gallons with 1/8 cup of the Craft Blend and 1 TBSP of Kashi Blend. Also adding a 1/4 tsp of Big 6 Micros + Humic Acid and 1 tsp of Dry Aminos into the water along with the Therm X70, Rootwise Mycrobe Complete, and the Aloe Vera.
Cover crop is coming in really strong and looks great. Definitely aids in fixating Nitrogen, getting the microbial process started, as well as helping establish the Mycorrhizal connection with the roots. Chopping and dropping can create a living mulch as well especially when its green and the Nitrogen to Carbon ratio is high. Helps keep top of soil moist and shaded as well.
All the plants are showing lots of healthy new growth every week!
The Bubba Kush #2 is exploding with growth every day! She is 9 inches tall now and has some massive fan leaves. Definitely looking forward to seeing how this girl turns out since she has raced to the front this quickly.
The White Widows are looking healthy and growing steady but not as quick or as much as the Bubba Kush. White Widow #1 which had the more odd structure is starting to look a little more normal. That initial branch that shot up that only had 1 section per leaf is starting to get caught up to by the more normal looking shoots on the sides. Bent this first branch set of leaves lower almost like a super crop so that it is lower than the 2 other shoots that will produce flowers to help them get more light. WW #3 which was planted in the 30 gallon a little later seems to really like its new home. Looks a lot more stable with multiple new sets of leaves and getting a little bushier vs tall which is good to see.
Cover crop in each container is growing like crazy and it looks like a jungle in there! Really cool to see, but chopped some of the taller cover crop plants that were on the verge of shading any cannabis plants. Probably will leave most of it growing the entire cycle just managing it by cutting back some of the taller plants and turning them into mulch.
Each container got a good watering with the Therm X70, Aloe, Rootwise Mycrobe Complete, Dry Aminos, and the Big 6 Micros + Humic Acid.
Some of the photos that look a little droopy are right after watering, then the photos where they have more turgor and are more upright are a few hours after watering and are looking happy and well fed/watered.
Can't wait to see how much theyll grow in the next week!
Thanks again for following along and adding any input!
These girls are really exploding with growth and everyone is looking healthy! Sticking with the watering schedule. Alternating plain water and Therm X70, Aloe, Rootwise Mycrobe Complete in water every watering. Once a week adding the Big 6 Micros + Humic Acid, and Dry Aminos to the water.
A few days after feeding, mixed up a few gallons with some EM5 in order to try and get some of these fungus gnats. They aren't a major problem right now but definitely would like to cut them back if not eliminate them. Thankfully they really pose no harm to the plant and are just more of a nuisance. Plan on getting some Neem oil and possibly some Dr. Bronner's Castile soap to really attack them before flower.
Originally wanted to veg for only 1 month but now that the Big Body Gelati from Covert is underway, gonna wait until those are sexed and flip everything to flower at once so the White Widow and the Bubba Kush will have been vegging for a couple weeks longer than the Big Body Gelati. Have been keeping a journal and taking photos of the BBG but waiting to sex them to start the diary in case they are male. Only popped 2 seeds of the BBG to stay under plant limits otherwise would have popped more and had better chances. If any are male, gonna move them to another room in a separate tent and attempt to collect pollen.
The Bubba Kush in the 30 gallon is continuing to be the most impressive. The most vigorous grower of the bunch and seems to have new leaves and a new node every day or two. Very large, fat fan leaves, some of the largest I have ever seen. Even though its still in veg, this one reeks already! Definitely has a bubba, fruity smell to it which is very pleasant. Super cropped the tallest node on this one versus topping like I normally do. Haven't supercropped before so giving it a shot on this girl. One leaf had a couple spots on it but that was the side that was getting hit with the most direct wind from the fan. The fan is oscillating but this side of the plant was getting constantly hit so it seems the spots are from stress and not deficiency related. Turned that fan off for a few days which is fine as its still getting more indirect wind from the other mounted fan. Going to turn the first fan back on but change the angle of it to hopefully avoid this again. Need to get another mounted fan for the wall, these are definitely superior and save space.
The White Widows are also looking great in the 30 gallon. Have 2 plants in there so need to manage/train them a little better to manage space as best as possible. The larger White Widow #1 that had the odd looking first set of leaves (can look back a few weeks and see) kind of naturally was topped as this first node was just a leaf and not a typical node that produces 2 sets of leaves if that makes sense. So it kind of naturally had 2 areas that are now growing similar to if it was topped. Proceeded to then actually top both of these areas at the top node of each. Trying to bush it out more and it also almost knocked it down to the same height as #3 which is in the same container right next to it but was planted a little later so it wasn't as big. Gonna top the other one in the next few days.
Hopefully can sex the BBG in the next 2 weeks as they will be around 1 month old by then. At that point we will prep for flower and flip everything over a week later. Cant wait!
Thanks again for following along!!
Everything is looking and growing great! Preparing to head out of town for a few weeks so going into a "pre-bloom" phase this first week which will be lowering the light from 18/6 to 16/8 and then doing the Build A Soil pre-bloom feeding schedule which uses both the Aloe and Rootwise Mycrobe Complete from the Veg phase and combines these with the Coconut Water Powder and Rootwise Bio-Phos as kind of a prep for flower and a transitional feeding using both. Lack of photos is due to being busy prepping to go out of town and making sure everything is set up for the people watching over the girls while gone.
They are really growing even faster now that the pre bloom phase has kicked in. Was able to make it back for a few hours before leaving town again which explains the lack of photos. Was not able to measure anything or do any defoliation/training due to being in a rush. The only change from last week is lowering the light to 14/10. Will go full 12/12 next week when back in town. Again fed them a combo of the BAS veg and flowering feedings to keep that transition into flower going good. Will cut out the Aloe and the Mycrobe Complete next week and have a much better update.
Finally back!
Wow! The garden has absolutely exploded with growth these past 2 weeks. Everything is looking really healthy still and growing rapidly all over. They all got the Build A Soil Bloom Transition Stretch phase on their feeding schedule. With water Therm X70, Rootwise Bio-Phos, Big 6 Micros + Humic Acid, Dry Aminos, and Freeze Dried Coconut Water Powder. The following were applied as a top dressed around the base of each plant: Craft Blend (1/8 cup), Kashi Blend (2 TBSP), and Build A Flower Top Dress (1/2 Cup). Changed the light the final time so they are officially on 12/12 flowering cycle.
The BK #2 in the back is only about 6 or 7 inches from the light now so raised the light as high as it could go. It shouldn't have to much more vertical growth so this should suffice for the remainder of the grow. This girl is the fastest grower and biggest in every facet. The leaves are some of the biggest fan leaves I have ever seen, the stalk at the base is probably 1.5 inches in diameter, and it seems to grow a few inches every day or two. Did a massive defoliation and cleaned up all the lowest fan leaves as well as any inferior or smaller branches that wouldn't produce much in terms of good quality flower and were mostly just taking energy the plant can devote to the large higher up colas. Basically lollipopped them and then super cropped some of the highest cola areas to get a more even canopy. Can really see her "legs" now after the defoliation which will be good for airflow once she starts stacking flowers.
The BK #1 that was originally going to be given away has now found a home in the final 30 gallon container. Was able to sex the 2 Big Body Gelati plants from Covert Genetics and had one female and one male. The Female was transplanted into the other 30 gallon and this last Bubba got the other 30 gallon that was going to be for the Big Body Gelati had they both turned out female. This girl was definitely getting close to outgrowing her smaller container and should be really happy and show a lot more growth now that she is in her final home in the 30 gallon. Very healthy looking although not as large as the BK #2 was at this stage. Super cropped the very top cola area to promote the growth of the slightly lower colas. Cleaned up the very low branches and fan leaves as well.
Both of the White Widows are doing great sharing the 30 gallon. Like the rest of the plants, did a really good defoliation and cleaned them up nicely to avoid any major dead air spots and bunching up of leaves. Super cropped some of the highest colas so the canopy is more even. Had to tie some of the side branches that were drooping a bit trying to reach for more light as they were in much more indirect light versus the top colas. Kept a few of these side colas as they looked cool and just ordered another HLG light to put up which will give everything maximum coverage.
After watering and feeding, mixed up 1 gallon of water with some EM5 and gave everything a good soaking just before the light shut off. Tried to get all the leaves top and bottom, stalks, and a good soaking on the topsoil of each container. Noticed a significant decrease in fungus gnats since before leaving town for 2 weeks. Before there was quite a lot of them all over but now there are very few if any flying around the room. Could be combo of the EM5 regiment as well as while gone the topsoil of the containers definitely got drier than normal which could have also aided in them depleting.
In some of the photos there are a couple plants that look less than ideal healthwise, they were supposed to be autoflowers from the last run but turned out to be photos and have just been chilling waiting for a flower cycle to switch and try to flower them. I'm afraid its been too long in the 5 gallon bucket and the little amount of food available in the Roots Organic soil it is in has been depleted too much to really get a good flower but we are going to try! If they don't make it, it is not a big deal, They are just getting water and some of the leftover feed/water from the above plants in the larger containers.
Just finished the first full week of 12/12 light and these girls are exploding with growth! Brewed up an Aerated Compost Tea over the last 36 hours which finished up right as the light turned on today so all the plants got a good dose of this right as they woke up. The ACT was 5 gallons of water, 2 cups of KIS (Keep It Simple Organics) Fungal Compost, 1/2 cup of Blackstrap Molasses, 2.5 tsp of Fish Hydrolysate, 3.5 Tbsp of Kelp Meal, and a heavy pinch of Build A Soil Craft blend. Had a nice earthy smell to it and a big head of foam on it when finished.
This recipe and method was obtained from microbeorganics.com courtesy of Mr. Tim Wilson. His research and writing are some of the most informative stuff out there regarding soil microbes and compost teas/microbe multipliers and I HIGHLY recommend checking it out if you have any interest in compost teas and/or really anything regarding plants and how they grow. I built the 5 gallon mini-microbulator brewer design he has on his site and it works wonders! Only things I would recommend doing differently is getting the one size larger aquarium air pump. Tim recommends the Elemental 951 GPH aquarium pump but I would absolutely recommend getting the one size larger pump which is the Elemental 1157 GPH pump. The 1157 has a 3/8" hose barb that comes with it so you don't have to try and stretch the 3/8" hose over the nozzle and clamp it on there which Tim suggest doing with the 951 which comes with a 1/4" hose barb. I had tried this as suggested by Tim and could not for the life of me get the hose even clamped as tight as possible to stop vibrating off of the nozzle. It appears the actual hose barb with a clamp is necessary so that is why I highly recommend going with the larger pump (the Elemental 1157 GPH) and the extra power definitely helps as well (really hard to have too much agitation, better to have a little more than too little). I also suggest using a beer brewing 5 gallon bucket which is taller than a standard 5 gallon bucket. This helps greatly reduce all of the splashing when combined with a standard 5 gallon bucket used like a lid. After getting the brewer going I put the regular 5 gallon bucket upside down on top and bungee it to the bottom bucket (being careful not to pinch the air hose) which works really good and have had no splashing outside the bucket (put this contraption in an old plastic bin to really minimize any splashes or water/tea getting anywhere. Forgot to snap a few pictures of the process and contraption but will next time. Feel free to ask if you have any questions or need help doing this!!
BK #2 is absolutely massive and towers above the rest, really wish I took clones of this girl now as she seems like a real winner so far. She was getting really close within a foot of the light so had to super crop the tallest branches/tops pretty heavily to get the canopy even and at least a foot away from the light. After doing that a few days ago they are recovering nicely and starting to orient themselves upwards again. This girl is drinking at least 2 gallons of water every day now! Buds are coming in more and more and starting to slowly thicken up and stack. Still super early but nice to see them coming in like they are already. She measures in at 54" even after being super cropped! Already has a bubba/fruity odor that is pretty loud even if just touching the leaves/ branches. Really comes out when defoliating and cutting some of the leaves and branches.
BK #1 is a lot smaller due to being transplanted to the 30 gallon a lot later. Still looking really healthy and starting to bush out a little more. Measures 36" tall and the tallest branch/part was super cropped so would be taller if not for this.
WW #3 is slightly taller than the WW #1 it shares a 30 gallon with. Both are really healthy looking while being nice and bushy. Buds are starting to form but not as far along as the big BK #2. Super cropped the tallest branches on both of these although not as rough as the BK got since they aren't nearly as tall. Starting to recover after doing that a few days ago. WW #1 is measuring in at 45.5" tall and WW #3 is 43" so very close in height which is nice since the canopy is pretty even and they are sharing that 30 gallon container.
Going to start updating the Covert Genetics Big Body Gelati that is going in the remaining 30 gallon container. That one is 33" tall and looking really healthy with some good growth each week. Did a bending of the top tallest branch although idk if I'd consider it a true super crop. It wasn't bent nearly as much but should be alright. Keep bending it down each day or two but don't wanna stress it too much or risk breaking it. Seems to be working though as the side branches/shoots are starting to grow more and more. The main stalk/stem on this one is thicker than the others besides the huge Bubba Kush #2.
The BK #2 and the WW's need water every day while the others need it every few days. That will probably change as they mature more and catch up to the BK #2 and WW's
Thanks for following along!!
Was out of town for a week and man did these girls explode with even more growth while gone! Gave them their weekly feeding of BAS products according to the Bloom Transition column of their feed schedule (Therm X70, Big 6 Micros + Humic Acid, Dry Aminos, Rootwise Bio-Phos, and the Dried Coconut Water Powder). The BK #2 which is by far the largest plant is 58" tall even after being super cropped earlier on and then recently having some of the taller branches/buds tied to the wall to bend them a little since they were getting way too close to the light. This method seems to have worked great in evening out the canopy and getting those couple really tall branches away from the light. The buds on this girl are coming in super strong and already getting quite fat! They really are starting to smell and if brushed up against will already get you sticky like glue! This girl has been such a winner so far, really packing on the weight now.
The BK #1 is definitely the smallest but this is most likely due to being stunted in its previous container as well as being sort of overshadowed by the larger Bubba Kush and some of the White Widows. Hopefully the other light that I ordered a few weeks ago ships soon! There was a 4-5 week lead time on the lamp but it was a great Black Friday deal that I had to take advantage of despite the long shipping lead time. If this doesn't show up too late in the grow it should provide a really nice boost to this and the other plants/parts of plants that aren't getting the best light since the overall canopy is so wide its hard to reach everything really good with just 1 light. No problem though, everything still seems to be chugging along and doing just fine although it will be really nice to give them all more light here soon.
The 2 White Widow's that are sharing the 30 gallon are both doing really well! The bigger WW is 59 inches tall even after a super crop earlier on although not as much as probably should have since this is getting almost too tall now. Being out of town so much recently for work has not allowed me to do as much training as I would have liked but it doesn't seem to be having a negative effect even though some of the taller branches and buds are getting too close. Will most likely tie some of those taller ones to the wall like I did with the huge BK #2 which helped quite a bit. Buds are starting to come in and just starting to stack up. Still lots of gaps between the buds and not as far along as the BK #2 but its making great progress!
The BBG is starting to bush out more and shoot its lowers up to have a more even canopy. It is getting overshadowed a decent amount on one side by the 2 White Widows and getting that 2nd light will allow me to spread them out more which should give this girl a nice boost with more light coverage and no other plants covering it as much. Farther behind on bud development but that is to be expected as it didn't get transplanted to the 30 til a few weeks after the BK #2 and the WW's. Smell is just starting to be noticable and the top branches/colas are establishing themselves.
So exciting to see them progress into flower! Has been 2 full weeks of 12/12 light now (did 1 week of 16/8 and 1 week of 14/10 prior to switching to full 12/12 two weeks ago now). Almost halfway or about halfway if including those 2 "pre-flower" weeks which is really nice seeing how far along the BK#2 and WWs are!
Thanks as always for following along, checking out my grow, and adding any comments or questions!
A month (4 weeks) of 12/12 complete plus the 2 weeks of pre flower (1 week of 16/8 light and then 1 week of 14/10 light before switching to full 12/12). Should be entering the stacking/fruiting phase where buds really put on weight during the 2nd half of flower here. Everything seems to be looking great and going smoothly for all the plants. Switching to the Build A Soil Flowering/Fruiting section of the feeding schedule. Basically the same as the last Bloom/Stretch phase except adding 2 tsp of coconut per gallon instead of 1 tsp. Also top dressed each plant with a handful of the Build A Soil BuildAFlower Top Dress and the Kashi Blend. Feeding them once or twice per week and then plain dechlorinated water every other day. They are drinking every day now especially the big BK#2 and the WW container which makes sense because they are by far the largest plants in the space.
BK#2 is enormous and continues to pack on bud weight. Some of these top colas are already really fat and only getting fatter! Definitely the furthest along despite everything being switched to flower on the same day. The canopy is packed with nice big colas and even some of the side/lowers are looking thick. Was noticing some of the leaves most directly under the light were starting to get a little lighter green color and some discolored spots but that seems to be going away/showing less now. When I turn the light way down or off the plant looks a lot more green as well so in the photos keep that in mind. Originally noticed this about a week or a week and a half ago but it definitely has gotten more green since. Was never really a major issue just noticed the lighter color on part of the plant which seemed to be from being too close to the light. Turned the light down a little bit since these girls have grown too close to it and I have run out of room to raise it higher. Also this one being by far the furthest into flower could also be the natural fade/senescence as well. Doesn't seem to be having too much of a negative effect but would be ideal to have trained these girls more earlier so the light could be cranked higher to maximize the bud production but like I said, not a major problem at this point. Otherwise she's looking really good and the smell is really coming on strong now. Outside of the grow room reeks and then when going inside it really hits you! Buds look really nice and frosty, and are getting super fat! Did another little defoliation during the last week just trying to clean up the lower of the plant so it can devote all its energy to the big tops that will really produce. Will continue to get rid of the bigger fan leaves and promote air flow throughout the plant to eliminate the chance for bud rot since these colas are really fat.
WW's together in the 30 are also thriving! Really healthy growth from both and they are both starting to stack their buds up now. Up to this point they seemed to still be in that stretch phase but they seem to have slowed in growth in height (hopefully since they are literally right at the light, although enough to the side to not be growing directly into the lamp) and the buds are getting noticeably thicker now. Plants are really healthy throughout and no visible issues at this point. One WW is definitely a lot taller while the other is more bushy and even canopy. The taller one has 3 or 4 really tall shoots that have shot way up to the light level. The buds on the WW's are starting to get fat and stack up, smell is faint but coming in more every day. Has a more piney/sharp? type of smell compared to the BK which is straight bubba/fruity.
The smaller BK #1 is doing great despite being a lot further behind in development than the rest. This is probably mostly due to being a little overshadowed by the huge BK #2 and the WW's. Moved the container a little out of the shade a few weeks ago which seems to help a little bit. Not as many side buds/branches and the main colas are a lot smaller but they are stacking up and look great. I guess the one main positive about this girl is that she is not reaching up towards the light and is still probably 2 feet below the light so won't have to worry about light burn or managing the canopy in regards to the light like the other plants.
The Big Body Gelati has really exploded with growth over the last 2 weeks and really the last week. It still was shooting up/stretching and has reached just about light level like the WW. The stalk on this girl I would say is the 2nd thickest behind the big BK #2 and even slightly thicker than the WW's which were started sooner and are further developed in flower. Has a much more spaced out bud structure it seems which is a good comparison and contrast to the tightly packed/stacked BK #2 next to it. Has a different shade of green to the leaves as well and the bud definitely has a unique structure and look so far. Really excited to see this one stack up and how everything will come together. Has one leaf on the tallest cola that has some discoloration, but that is really the only leaf/spot with any discoloration or signs of issues. Disregarding for now since the rest of the plant looks great!
So far so good! Another healthy smooth week of growth and lots of good bud development happening. Going out of town again next week so prepping everything so they can be babysat while I'm gone. We're getting closer now! Estimating about a month left til harvest.
Thanks as always for following along and adding any likes, comments, questions or any input!!
5 weeks of 12/12 flower completed! (6 or 7 if you count 1 or two pre flower weeks).
Everything seems to be going pretty smoothly except the BK #2 has developed some serious light burn now on some leaves closest to the lamp. The buds look good still and appear undamaged which was a relief. Whipped out the lux meter and did a rough conversion to PPFD to calculate the DLI and the light was much too high for those buds that were directly underneath it and growing too close. Turned it down significantly so that the DLI is now at 53. Was just over 60 before, yikes! Also cut the light time by a half an hour so it will now be getting 11.5 hrs of light and 12.5 hours of darkness.
Watered everything pretty heavily today according to the Build A Soil Flowering/Fruiting (Therm X70, Aminos, Bio-Phos, Big 6 Micros + Humic Acid, and Coconut).
BK #2 has some FAT colas and quite a few of them. Managed to tie/bend some of the taller branches that were getting too close to the light down which gave them 3-5" more of distance between them and the lamp so combined with turning the light intensity down should ease some of the stress that has been on them. Like described earlier, the actual bud/flower seems to be undamaged and looking really good. The stalk on this girl is super fat! Gonna take a measurement of how thick she is next update (or I'll probably forget so will do it at harvest if so lol). The buds overall are really stacking if not closer to finishing stacking and look so tasty! They are starting to really dense up and the orange hairs are becoming more and more prevalent now. Had to do some bracing and tying the branches to support them as they are starting to tip over from becoming so heavy. Definitely need to trellis/scrog next run.
The WW's are looking great and have an insane amount of white hairs on the top colas, looking really cheesy. Definitely the tallest of all the plants. The WW #1 might be the healthiest looking plant in the room since its a little shorter so no light burn. The 2 plants in one 30 gallon seem to be working out great with no issues. Still primarily white hairs and a TON of them on all these buds, not many orange yet except for some of the lowers.
The Big Body Gelati is starting to stack up now and the smell is really getting apparent now. A nice fruity mixed with that fuel like scent. Can't wait to try this one! The cola/top in the most intense light has some burn on the leaves but after turning the light down it should help. Other than that the plant looks really healthy and seems to be thriving as it stacks up its buds and thickens those colas!
Going out of town again unfortunately (work related and unexpected) should have everything set up to be managed again and the people taking care of them while I am gone have done great so far. Just sucks to have to go this late into flower as they will be finishing probably at the end of this month. May be late on the next update.
Thanks as always for following along!!
Getting close now for the BK #2 in back. The fade is getting more prominent and the plant is taking less and less water every few days now. The little bit of burn on a few of the leaves seems to be getting worse so turned the light down a little bit as well. Was actually out of town for this week so don't have much of an update or photos but they were pretty well taken care of.
Everything is really starting to get close and the BK #2 (the largest plant) was harvested this week! Very prominent amber trichomes visible under the scope and probably about 30% of them were that color while the rest were cloudy/milky. Prepared a closet to dry this one alone in. Got it down to 62-63F degrees and able to keep it between 55%-60% humidity which should work out really well. Cut the plant at the base right above the soil and hung the entire plant upside down. Removed a few of the more damaged large fan leaves otherwise let the rest remain. Smell is really strong and super fruity!
After cutting the largest plant down, moved the container it was in outside of the grow room so that I could rearrange the remaining plants to maximize the space and light for their final few weeks. The two WW's that are in the one 30 gallon together got moved to the back corner that the large BK #2 used to be. Almost every cola/branch needed to be tied somewhere for support. Definitely will need to manage height/structure of the plant more next run and utilize a screen/net. This seems to be working though just took a long time and lots of work to secure every branch. Otherwise both of the WW look great and the colas are really starting to finish stacking and thickening up. Lots of milky trichomes and some clear ones remain. Hairs starting to turn more orange.
BK #1 got moved into a lot more direct light so that should really improve things as it was the one that was lacking the most light most of the cycle. Had to tie a decent amount of the colas and branches but not as tedious of a process as the WW were. This plant has some of the most appealing looking bud! Smell is really fruity and strong as well.
The BBG got rotated and moved a little more under the light. Buds are really stacking up now and the hairs are starting to get some orange but definitely the least amount of orange hairs of the room. Trichomes are some milky and a decent amount of clear still so this plant must be the furthest behind which makes sense as it was started last and sexed first. Buds definitely have a different look to them and the smell is more funky. Can't wait to try this one!
The BK #2 hanging to dry has been doing really well and is approaching a week. Still has a ways to go, hoping to last have at least a 2 week long dry. The closet has remained in the right range 99% of the time so things are going well in there.
The WW's got their last dose of the feed with its watering. After this just the coconut will be used at half the dose. Plants seem to be responding well and recovering from the move and being tied for support. More orange hairs showing and the trichomes are almost entirely milky with maybe of the smaller ones starting to turn amber. Probably another week or maybe 2 at most is my guess til harvest.
The BK #1 is definitely liking having more light and room. Buds are a little fatter and really frosting up. Was watered yesterday and still holding water so didn't get the feed or water today.
The BBG has much more orange hairs and the buds are a lot more stacked/fat. Still some clear trichomes but a lot more milky/cloudy ones than before. No amber yet though. Really funky dank smell on this girl!!
Light changed to 11 hours now for the rest of the way.
Getting really close now, maybe another week for the Bubba Kush #1 and the White Widow's. Possibly 1.5-2 weeks for the Big Body Gelati.
They are all drinking a lot less water now, maximum 1 gallon before getting runoff now.
Fade is really starting to show now on the WW. Some leaves turning yellow and others turning purple.
They got their last watering mixed with the nutrients/feed. Now they will only get plain water and maybe one time or so of water with 1 tsp of the dried coconut water per gallon depending on how much longer they go.
When checking trichomes, the BK #1 has almost all cloudy/milky colored and maybe a few amber mixed in. The WW's both have definitive amber showing and the rest cloudy/milky. Will probably chop these 2 this week. Trying to wait until the BK #2 that was chopped almost 2 weeks ago to be fully dry before chopping anything else, but will more than likely chop some time this week regardless.
The BK #2 that has been drying for almost 2 weeks is really close to being ready to trim. Some of the smaller and midsize outer branches have began to have that clear stem snap but some other small/mid size ones as well as the bigger stems are still bending. Definitely close though as they barely bend and are on the verge of being able to cleanly snap. Guessing a few more days which would line up perfectly with harvesting the White Widows.
The BBG has no amber trichomes yet but they are all cloudy/milky. They should be starting to turn in this next week or so. This is the furthest behind in terms of trichome color.
Getting really close to full harvest and should be ready to trim the Bubba Kush #2 that was harvested almost 2 weeks ago in a few days. The fact that it has made it 2 weeks is really encouraging for what the quality should turn out to be for the final product. Definitely going to wait until the larger branches/stems cleanly snap or break before pulling it out of the drying closet to trim. Super close now though.
Thanks for following along and interacting with the grow!!
We are really close now to harvesting the rest!! Estimating this week sometime to chop the remaining girls.
Bubba Kush #2 dried for 16 days then got her trimmed up and jarred. Visually looks really good, super frosty, a lot of nice orange hairs and a nice kind of lighter green color. A little disappointed with the smell, doesn't smell bad but just doesn't have a very potent odor to it. That should come back a little bit after a few weeks in the jars though hopefully. Probably could have improved had I been able to keep the dry room 5 degrees cooler throughout the entire dry. Was closer to 65 degrees most of the time (couldn't get it colder consistently) versus it should have been closer to 60 degrees. Smokes very very smooth, lots of kief, and burns nicely though. Got just over 300g off the one Bubba which was a nice surprise. Tried to get some nice close up shots of the nugs for viewing!
The White Widow's are really starting to show their fade. The trichomes have a few amber in there so she is probably ready just trying to hold out a few more days to see if a few more turn on the other Bubba Kush and the Big Body Gelati. The Bubba Kush #1 has some purple fade coming in and the trichomes are still primarily cloudy with some amber mixed in so that is probably ready as well but the Big Body Gelati is all cloudy still with only a few amber trichomes mixed in so was hoping to get a few more amber before chopping. Really would like to harvest all the rest at once as to not introduce new plants into the drying room after there were plants already drying in there as it will mess up the moisture/humidity levels.
Gave them just under 1 gallon of plain water yesterday and this might be the final watering they receive before chopping this week!!
Good old White Widow! Super easy to grow. Was not exposed to too much stress but they seemed pretty resistant and solid genetics. The 2 I grew stretched really tall and had multiple taller spread out but large colas versus one main thick top and then the sides. Definitely will grow again as I still have some seeds left from this pack. Will update once they are done drying and can get a smoke/smell report.
Well here we are! Harvest Day!
Chopped the remaining plants yesterday. Both of the White Widows, the remaining Bubba Kush #1, and the Big Body Gelati by Covert Genetics are all drying in a closet that I got dialed in pretty well for drying. Took the controller and probe out of the grow room and got those hooked up along with the humidifier in the closet and it seems to be keeping things dialed in pretty well. Did not do this when drying the BK #2 which was ready a few weeks ago and while the hygrometer was reading between 60-65F for temp and 55-60% humidity I definitely feel like I could have done a better job keeping it closer to 60/60 and the smell of those dried buds I think suffered due to it. They don't smell bad just don't really have a smell at all. Usually the smell is that hay or close to hay like/plantlike taste/smell but that Bubba Kush #2 literally has a nonexistent smell which I suppose is better than hay but still disappointed it doesn't have that odor especially given it is Bubba Kush which usually has a distinct aroma to it. Keeping it cooler in there as well as having the controller regulating when the humidifier turns on should help a lot. It has been almost 24 hours since harvest and the humidity is wanting to jump up to between 65-70% which is too high so every few hours have to crack the closet door and exchange some air which I really don't want to do but need it less humid in there. As the plants dry out more, this should start gradually getting lower. Luckily the temp has not gone above 61.5F and has mostly been sitting around 59-60F which is perfect. Definitely a lot more moisture in there with 4 plants hanging versus the 1 from before when drying the BK #2 by itself.
Unable to get a true wet weight so leaving that blank. The WW's and the BBG were heavy though and the BK #2 (harvested a few weeks ago) was by far the heaviest plant. 300g total dry weight so wet she was a few pounds.
Will update more when drying is finished. Fingers crossed for a slow cool dry and that the humidity stays in check and we get some terpy, loud, fire buds!!
Going to get the grow room cleaned and tidied up, the 2nd light installed, reamend the 30 gallons with some craft blend, Gnarly Barley, compost and EWC then plant some cover crop and start popping the next round of seeds!! Set up a worm bin and have some red wigglers on the way which should help a lot on the next run as well. Going all covert next round a few different strains so stay tuned!! Next run should be even more successful and less problems. This grow was for the most part super easy and problem free but can always improve!!
Thanks again to anyone who checked out this diary, commented, liked, or followed. Really appreciate your input/support!! Really makes growing fun sharing it like this and this platform is the best way I have found to do that.
Very easy to grow and some really nice looking buds! Grew two of these and one of them was one of if not the most vigorous and rapidly growing plant I have ever grown. She exploded with growth all throughout the run and was packed full of nice fat colas. The other one was a nice plant as well but did not receive as much light as it could have so it didn't explode nearly as much as the other one but still a nice fat frosty top and some of the nicest looking buds in the room. Buds were thick and dense with good structure.
The first plant I think dried too warm and low humidity by just a hair so the smell is pretty much gone. Smokes nice though!
The 2nd plant was a lot better smell wise. A nice fruity/bubba smell to it but not super strong. The nugs are very frosty and coated with trichomes! 2nd plant had some purple mixed in the buds too.
Overall was an easy plant to grow and was very fast growing as well. Have some seeds left over so will be doing this again eventually!

This strain is incredible!! Easy to grow and stress resistant for the most part (although fortunately she didn't get much stress), very solid sturdy structure, vigorous growth, and good spacing and structure of buds. Cannot say enough about how fire this girl smells and looks!
Very fuel/gas/diesel like smell that is very potent and strong! Some of the most gas smelling bud I have had. Very very frosty and extremely sticky and resin coated. Lots of orange hairs and trichomes! Would say consistency is pretty ideal with the nugs being pretty dense but not too dense where they are super hard. Smokes very smooth and the taste is very similar to the smell and quite flavorful. The high is really pleasant and relaxed but not the couch lock. I believe based on the lineage of the genetics that it is a more indica dominant hybrid although harvesting with 95% cloudy/milky and 5% amber versus letting it get a little more amber may have had an effect on that. Either way very good smoke and a great high.
Could not recommend Big Body Gelati and Covert Genetics enough!! His gas/fuel strains are top notch if that is what you're after.
Harvest day for the Big Body Gelati is here!
This girl had the most unique and pungent odor out of the bunch (between the Bubba Kush and White Widow both by Seedsman). Very fuel like with hints of fruitiness. Can't stress enough how strong and pleasant the odor off this girl is. The vast majority of the trichomes were cloudy/milky with a handful of amber ones so she probably could have went a little bit longer maybe but had to chop the others today and couldn't keep this girl going for another week and then introduce her into the drying room after the rest of the plants have already been in there for a week as it would mess up the moisture level in there so we cut her down with the rest of them. The fact that every single trichome I saw was at least cloudy/milky with a few amber and was good enough for me to be okay with chopping her.
Got the drying room dialed in better this time with my AC Infinity controller, probe, and humidifier. Temp is consistently within 1 degree of 60F (no lower than 59 and no higher than 61.5) and humidity is fluctuating a little more as the room is full of plants and it wants to raise the moisture to around 65-68% so every few hours I pop the door open for 30 seconds to let some of that humidity out. Typically try to not let any of that air from the drying room out or introduce a bunch of new air but can't let them sit too much over 60% for too long before I get worried about bud rot. This should go down as she dries out but fingers crossed that the drying process is a slow, cool, and consistent humidity so we can really preserve those terps and that loud gas odor she has!
Thanks for following along, commenting, interacting, following this journey! Appreciate all the love! Will update the smoke report after she's done drying but stay tuned for the next run which will be all Covert Genetics and starting soon!!
@BudBoutique, Same! Wasn't able to train them as much as I'd like due to being unexpectedly out of town quite a bit during this run so curious how theyll turn out as they are almost too tall at this point lol.
You clearly know what you're doing, but I've never seen black or grey mycelium. You sure that mass of "good mycelium" isn't dead, a fruiting body, or a mold? Myc doesn't really lift above the substrate until its trying to fruit, and we wouldn't call the fruiting body myc.
Any chance at ID?
Also, damn, we really are in sync. I grew NLA last, WW now. Happily Minnesota organic grow!
@JazzBerries, I haven't seen it like that either and it didn't even occur that it could have been something besides mycelium and possibly be a mold but you could be right. I was out of town for a week right after this last update and that little ball in the photo has disappeared and there is no sign of it anymore. Plants are thriving still and no signs of mold or anything bad spreading so that is relieving. It definitely was more in the mulch layer versus being in the soil when it was visible though. Going to keep monitoring but it has disappeared at least for now. If it returns or I start seeing the plant getting "sick" I will update more.
Wow that is quite the coincidence lol! Thanks for the comment, and pointing out the mycelium/mold in the photo. Also happy growing to you as well! Will definitely follow along and wish you nothing but positive results to a fellow MN grower!
@Herbie101, Thanks man!! I really enjoy the cover crop too. Not only does it provide a nice visual aesthetic, it helps out in a number of other areas as well. Thanks again for following along!
@CannabisFarmerGuyDude, I love the idea and philosophy begind the living soil thing! I just need to learn my basics first, but its perfect to follow people along who work with it to learn. 😊 I hope all will go well! Best of luck buddy!🌱🍀
@Herbie101, Thanks man!! Appreciate the love and you following along! First time going full "Living Soil" and using Build A Soil products so really excited to see how things turn out and share with you all.
