New to growdiaries and mostly through my current grow.
Strain details:
One of the most beloved classics has been given a modern makeover in White Widow Express Auto. When it comes to resin production and potency, nobody does it better than the original White Widow. The enormous buds are so covered in resin that they resemble snow because of their white appearance. A citrusy aroma and flavour follow suit. The effect is substantial, and the strain is remarkably low-maintenance. That makes it ideal for both novice and seasoned growers. The yields from these plants are incredible, despite their size. This makes them ideal for both home cultivation and industrial production. This variety takes 7 weeks to complete its flowering cycle and thrives in a variety of environments, including indoors, outdoors, and greenhouses.
When I popped this bean I thought this was a 7 week turnaround. Nope! It's 7 weeks in flower! I do wish there was some sort of standardization to quote seed to harvest time. That would be useful.
Where I'm at: The girls looking good. Starting to get a few orange pistils now.
Week 12. Day 85. Trichomes cloudy but no amber yet. Hopefully they will arrive by next weekend and I can start the flush. Looking forward to the home straight. The bud colors are beautiful. I love the flowering phase.
Day 92: Finally invested in an in-line fan. Wish I'd done so sooner, the climate is so much easier to control. Also have a new larger tent 80x80x160 (currently: 60x60x140) which I'll use on the next grow.
Everything is ready. Just waiting on the trichomes. They are still a mix of clear and cloudy. About two thirds cloudy. Still no amber yet. Hopefully another week and then ready to flush 🙏
Update: Day 95: Yay! A few ambers have appeared. I will start the flush today.
Week 13, Day 99.
I'm now on day 5 of flush. Still no amber. I can't even find the 2 I saw the other day.
This strain is strange. All the pistils turned orange weeks ago. I usually expect amber trichomes to start appearing when about 75% of the pistils change.
New growths have appeared on the buds. I'm assuming this is the remaining nutes being used up. Bottom leaves are nicely yellowing, to be expected again due to no nutes. Overall the plant is starting to lack the luster it had. Going to flush with PHd water for another 4/5 days and see where she's at.
Week 15, Day 106 of grow. Day 12 of ph water only flush. Still no amber trichomes visible. Been waiting so long for them my eyes are trying to trick me. I think I see a couple to discover there is a pistil behind. Buds are now a deep purple and have really swelled over the past week.
Never come across this before. Normally very clear through my loupe. Hopefully tomorrow my digital microscope will arrive and I'll decide whether to water for a couple more days, choke for 2 days (no water, only lights) or harvest depending upon what I see with the microscope.
Update: Digital microscope arrived. Confirms my observations with my loupe, little to no amber. I'm going to give her a few more days on ph water, then choke for 2 days before harvest.
Damn those elusive amber trichomes!
Not come across the late amber trichomes before, however a great strain to grow. Other than a little LST to maximize light exposure, an easy plant to take care of. Smooth smoke with an uplifting high. More of a daytime, late afternoon strain. Without wishing to sound like an Amazon review......Highly recommended.
Finally got amber trichomes on day 18 of flush!!! Starved for the girl for 24 hours simply on light. Day 114 - Harvest!.
Summary of Grow: Normal with one exception. Trichomes refusing to amber til the last minute. Not something I've encountered before. A good lesson in patience.
4oz!! I'm extremely happy!
I love this to start the evening. chatty and chilled without the couchlock,
