This grow kinda showed me the limitations of my equipment and probably would’ve had better results with a scrog. Got the plants about as high as space allowed but Light pen. Just ain’t there with this grow light and buds were a little fluffier than hoped/preferred.
My current go-to line. Not sure if the karma and hydroplex really helped things along without another cycle of this strain. I'll continue to use them regardless. The Cal-Mag is a necessity - you might as well rename it "No Worries". Exactly what you have when you use it in the regimen.😉
I guess I first have to extend a big thank you to James and the folks at RQS. The genetics of their “Northern Light” did not disappoint and this was a no fuss grow across all categories. This will be the only time you hear me refer to Northern Lights in the singular. It’s kinda like calling a “pickerel” a “walleye” - you just don’t do that up here😉.
She took well to training, showed no signs of lockout or deficiency, and we were at the top limits of botanicare’s recommended feeding schedule the whole time. I’d call this typical NL - the scent wasn’t overly powerful, she grew somewhat squat and while I’m actually very surprised at the final weigh (thought it would be much less), the whole grow was typical of the strain in my experience. Possibly her biggest limiting factor was simply space constraints. The photos pretty obviously demonstrate that she got really crowded out by the neighbouring kush and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she’d have done a little better with some more room.
That said, what isn’t “typical” are the effects. RQS touts this as a cup winner and I can see why. Had the opportunity to sample a little and WHOA! She Hits with a lasting, cerebral and euphoric effect that starts as a light, happy high. Not a crippling or dulling effect at all. Just everything you’d expect from a well rounded strain in general. Perfect. I almost wanna describe it as a classic sativa but I’ve been smoking nothing but a pure indica for so many months now that anything different is gonna feel that way 😂. Right there with ya 👊🏻 I enjoy autos for a quick turn around and a AAA+ Grade product from what I’ve seen with fastbuds. I’m very tempted to get some Royal Gorilla and do a SCRoG with that.. I built a 3.5’x3.5’ scrog net haven’t yet utilized it .. it’s a damn shame 😢 might need to set up another tent .. hmm lol. I think scrog is def the way to go for highest yield
@@TheWeedMan, I haven’t tried fast buds yet (super interesting though) but have done a number of auto runs in my cabinet previously. I’m now test running grow methods to see which yields more for my space and square footage. Leaning more towards photos for the flexibility and what I think is gonna be scrog as the most efficient (not really possible with autos). Honestly - we’re not exactly hard up for high quality ganja both in variety and quantity😉 so the extra time it takes really isn’t a consideration. That said, if my scrog diary places this month in DOTM - you better believe that the GSC from autoseeds is part of my next run for sure - and that’s saying a lot with the options I have right now.👍😉😎 oh that is so goddamn great to be able to say! Lol #stoned lol
@Black_Magic, taste is earthy/piney and the strain and effects are fantastic. Not necessarily “blow your socks off” like some indicas but a very relaxing and medicating high. I use it for chill out sessions and relief of minor aches and pains.👍

@cabinriver, oh buddy - it’s a huge topic and you’d need to be a little more specific. I usually tell people to start simple - tune out all the other shit and plant a seed, add water, harvest plants, smoke buds👍. Not being sarcastic here either - that is the baseline. Understand how the plant grows naturally and go from there. Reach out ANY time you need input on anything else as your growing. This forum is excellent for that and I’m happy to pay it forward👍. The flowering nodes on your plants look to be absolutely amazing. You've done such an amazing job with this grow so far and I'm so excited to see how these plants finish up as well as to hear how they smoke. Best wishes my friend :D

Just a curiosity: since she’s not growing that much, have you wondered what would happen if you increased light distance to 70, or even 80cm? Just my curiosity because she’s really short and it seems like she’s a bit lazy because she already has all the light she needs. But if you increase it a bit, maybe...... let me know! 😜💪
@TOTEM, cheers buddy. Tryn to keep it interesting! 👊 The stat is a little misleading as I measure based on her lst’d Height (which changes up and down each week based on what I want her to do). I’ll try to get a better view of the training on her main stalk - she’s kinda coiled like a snake around the side of the pot. Without training, she’s prob. 12-16 inches high. In my experience NL strains are typically pretty squat plants to begin with but it’s been planned like this to work in conjunction with her manifolded kush neighbour😉. She’s bushing the way I’d expect but took longer to recover than expected from the fimming. All told and if this goes to plan - she should double in height (assuming limited lst) over the next 2 weeks and I’m hoping to be left with a rough final height of about 24” total at the end of flower. That’s about the limit of my grow space in terms of height when you include for appropriate light spacing. Until I get the green light from the wife to turn half the basement into a grow tent - I’m stuck admiring everyone else’s! All good - we easily keep ourselves in the smoke with what we got here👍. When are you going to fim her? I'm asking cause I want to fim mine as well but she's a little behind your growth. Are you doing it when 4th node appears?
@BeefWellingtons, think so dude. I'm not waiting much past the 4th node. Once I get a little bit of Stem showing between the 3rd and 4th node and I have something to grab onto, she's gettn the pinch. Keep in mind I'll be doing this a little different than most people too. Read from @dudegrowsweed uses a less destructive method where u just crush the growth tip in your fingers and don't remove any of the growth at all. That's how im doing this one too in an effort to minimize stress to the plant as much as possible (and try something new). Hit me back if any questions and I'll keep an eye on yours as well homie😉👊
Congrats, my friend! Looking forward to your CK report as well. Northern Lights was one of my primary smoking strains back in the day - it's a trusty strain that you can't go wrong with.

Got me some blue dream in the lineup that I’m hoping to be similar to that (Humboldt seed co. Too👌). And I’m throwing this one for the NL in to the Feb. DOTM and leaving the kush another 10 days to next month once I have full cure details. Fields DEEP this month so doubt she’ll contend but worth a shot anyway. I’m banking on the kush though cuz I can’t put out a better explanation of a grow than that. Well see dude, thanks for the support👊
@TheBudWhisperer, that Blueberry Kush I grew is going to be a repeat for me as well, everybody here at home is like, "wow, that's some good shit." The aroma is one of a kind, even better than a standard Blueberry in my opinion. It got 6th in January's diary of the month too! 😊 Which was a complete surprise to me, they must have liked the info since I tried to be thorough. I bet you're CK journal would be a good contender for February, you do well in your descriptions throughout the grow, and I think the judges really appreciate that. I'd vote for it!
That's what I hear too about the Critical Kush - that it is a strong bushy yielder, especially for the squat size they usually tend to be. I'm not surprised it wanted to crowd out your NL.
