Hello. in the spring I traded some clones to a my buddy Jerry and I got 2 clones of 34th Street Seed Co. - Double Chocolate - and he said it was "good". Nice sativa head high.
He also said it would stretch some too, so be ready.
This strain description is Chocolate Thai OG x Choco Mellon Haze. 60% Sativa I'm hoping for "no" more than 10 weeks flowering.
Med to high Yield. Tall with a stretch.
20% - 26% THC. CBD - 1%, which is high for a sativa dom plant.
Aroma/taste - Earthy, Chocolate, Coffee, Sweet, with Fruity, Herb, and Citrus hints. Gassy but sweet.
Effect - Happy, Relaxed, Uplifted, Cerebral, Euphoric and Motivating.
High Stretch. Sounds great. I like head highs.
Grow Straight. Chuck.
Hello This is the end of week 1 and the start of week 2 of veg.
Things are doing well, and they have recovered from their transplanting stress, and have decided to grow. 😊🤗🤩
I filled up the grow room with old clones. These clones were about 8 months old in their own tent. They were growing up into the light.
I cut the tops off and stuck them in pots. These are my favorite plants/strains that made it through the selection process.
We use The White and Critical Kush for medical and Pink Kush, Dos Si Dos #33 and Amnesia Lemon to get blasted. Barney made 4 of the 5 strains.
Keep Grown Straight.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 2 and the beginning of week 3 of veg.
Was able to do some more training this week. On plant #1, I tied down a longer branch horizontal so it will give more upright shoots and cut off a branch that was growing straight down.
Plant #2, I pushed the smaller branches out around the lower ring.
On the rub test this plant smells of Plasticine, it was a modeling like clay sort of like playdough, but before playdough.
I've found this smell on very few other plants, but they have always been the extra good ones.
Grow Straight.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 3 and the beginning of week 4 of veg.
Everything in here is going well. The plants are doing good. I'm just waiting for the Pink Kush to catch up to the rest of the plants.
So I'll do a little trimming this week and let her catch up a bit more.
It was a weird week for me, I wrote about it in the other diary if you want to read about it.
Noticed the wide leaves on this sativa dom plant.
Be Great. Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 4 and the beginning of week 5 of veg.
The plants look a little wilty because my timer for the pump has reset itself, twice this week??? Set it and it works fine for a couple of days and then it doesn't??? Might have to get a new one.
Everything is going good in here. Still waiting on the Pink Kush to get going and make more branches before I start into flowering. I'll do some more LST in the mean time.
Very wide leaves for a sativa dom plant.
OK. Have Fun.
Chuck.
Hello This is the end of the veg cycle and this is week 1 of the flowering cycle.
I missed reporting last week because I was putting leaf mulch under the plants that I grow for the humming birds.
People put the free leaf mulch out on the curb for the vacuum trucks to pick up. So I help myself to them. I put leaves on my vegetable garden too. Gives the worms something to eat.
Things are going good in here. Some of the branches on the Double Chocolate were a little to high so I topped some of them.
Even the breeders' description said that there is some good stretching from the sativa side.
So, I'll flip over to flowering tomorrow, and take my clones then too. I've already set some of the lower branches to be clipped off for clones tomorrow.
OK. Have Fun.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 1 and the beginning of week 2 of flowering.
The stretch is going on now. I can see these plants getting tall. Might be thinking about super cropping a few of the taller branches. We'll see.
Big rainstorm last night. I get water traveling through, on the floor to the drain on the far side of the grow room. Got up through the night to dump the dehumidifier.
These plants have a interesting smell. They smell like the original Pink Kush. Like the one I snuck away/took from that busted grow op. in 1996. It smells just like that one. Can't wait!! Sort of a sweet vanilla, hashy, earthy type of smell. Delicious!!!
Other plants that I have in this grow room are, Pink Kush the original, The White we call Whitey, Amnesia Lemon we call Lemnesia, Dos Si Dos #33 we call Nice Cream, Critical OG sweet and funky, and the Double Chocolate.
OK. Keep Growing Straight.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 2 and the beginning of week 3 of flowering.
I need to get in here this week and do the final trim/prune and then let them heal before the resin starts being produced.
These plants are stretching now. I'll need to get out my Super Cropping clips that I've made out of copper. I'll show next week how I install them.
I'll tie them up against the tomato cages too. Right now they are drooping their branches into other plants spaces. They are crowding out the Critical OG now.
Keep Growing Straight.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 3 and the beginning of week 4 of flowering. I'm going to 10 weeks.
Got in here twice this week and I'm still not finished pruning up. I've got 1 more plant to trim up, the one in the far back corner. The one hardest to get to.
I supper cropped 5 of the taller branches on plant #1 and 2 branches on plant #2. I might have to do more if they don't stop stretching soon.
Had to tilt the light too. I think I'll grow these in the tent next time where I've got a couple of extra feet to go up.
I showed how I made some supper cropping clips, and how to install them. Careful not to split the branches, they take longer to heal and don't make as big of buds.
Ok. Be Great.
Chuck.
Hello this is the end of week 4 and the beginning of week 5 of flowering.
The resin is flowing now. I can see it on all the plants now.
Everything is going good in here. Looks like we'll see some purple on these plants. I can see it on the stem and It's just starting on some leaves.
Still 6 weeks to go. So we'll watch these buds swell.
It smell like sweet orange candy in here. Delicious. 😃
Keep growing straight.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 5 and the beginning of week 6 of flowering.
These plants of Double Chocolate are taking over that end of the grow room.
Got the lights up as high as they can go and turned up to about 65/70% now.
I've got the pump timer that turns on 3 times a day for 1/2 hour each time.
My reservoir is 10 gallons, but I make up 3 - 5 gallon water containers with nutrient. I add the last container about 1/2 way through the week.
I use the dehumidifier water to top up the reservoir in between.
The plants are smelling great now. It's a light smell sort of fruity, but I'm having a hard time pulling the chocolate out if it, but it smells delicious.
Ok. Be Great.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 6 and the beginning of week 7 of flowering.
We've got 4 weeks left in here before harvest. I like to flush for the last 2 weeks to get the best taste I can.
I like a couple of days of dark before harvest too.
Things are going good in here. I just turned down my dehumidifier 5% to help stop bud rot, now set at 45%.
Got a Bubble Magic Tumbler for making kief. It's the 150 g model. I let it tumble for 20 minutes then back to the freezer.
I tumbled the tumbler for 3 times before emptying the tumbler and cleaning the box out, making sure to put the tumbler back in the freezer each time.
I like kief because it burns with just a touch of the flame. I can also add it to a joint if I want too.
OK. Be Cool.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 7 and the beginning of week 8 of flowering.
It's been very cold for around here this week. -10 c and it going down to -21 c with the wind chill.
This week we will be going back to normal temps. The weather broke all sorts of freezing records for around here.
I worked to keep the hummingbird feeders from freezing, (they need sugar water) and checked them hourly.
This is the last week of food for these beautiful girls. I will flush with water with a bit of Hydrogen Peroxide in it.
When the pots leach out their nutrients the reservoir water still has some ppm in it. The first week it will round off at 600 ppm.
And the second week it will round off at around 300. So the plants will still get a bit of nutrients.
But not what they are use to so they start bringing in the nutrients they have in the fan leaves and the leaves turn yellow.
Have Fun.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 8 and the beginning of week 9 of flowering.
2 weeks to go and I started the flushing yesterday.
I like to add 2 oz. of Hydrogen Peroxide to 10 gallons of water for the flushing. In 3 days I'll top up the reservoir and add 2 more oz. of HP.
I've found with other strains that the HP adds some color to the leaves at the end. But there is already lots of color in here.
I took some pics with the flash last night so we can see the resin.
Ok. Be Great.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 9 and the beginning of week 10 of flowering.
Wow, What great colors these plants are producing. Even some brown, double chocolate looking leaves.
The top buds look and feel solid and hard. But there is a fair bit of loose buds under the canopy being a sativa dom plant, good for kief
The smell is interesting. It's sweet with some citrus and floral smells, but the chocolate hasn't popped out yet.
One more week of flushing. Then a couple of days of dark and I'll start harvesting.
I'm thinking it will take about 3 days to harvest 7 plants, then I've got some plants to go in here (Pinoal Kush Diary) for flowering after that.
I'll post some pics of the preharvest, next week.
OK. Keep Growing Straight.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the finish of my Double Chocolate diary.
The plants are getting 2 days of dark and then I'll start the harvest tomorrow.
These are sativa dom plants so I'm expecting some loose buds in the middle and on the bottom.
That's ok, they will be made into kief.
Look like everything's good to go for harvest tomorrow.
It should take me about 3 days to do the whole thing.
I'll post pic's in about 2 weeks of the harvest.
Have Fun.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the strain review for Double Chocolate by 34th Street Seed Co.
I traded my buddy a couple of clones for a couple of clones of this strain. He said it was very good but watch out for the stretch.
In veg they were good and healthy with no problems. I bought some nematodes for the fungus gnats and that got rid of them.
From the 2nd week of flowering till the 5th, they took off and easily out stretched the other plants. I had my lights up as high as they would go and had them turned up to 80%.
Took these plants to 10 weeks of flowering with a mostly a fruity smell but with some hints of chocolate in the background.
I wet trimmed the branches as they were cut off the plant. let them hang for 4 days and then cut off the buds into paper bags and hung them for 8 days to cure.
I got 6 1/2 mason jars of this now. It's a fruity coffee smelling strain, when I smell them now, in the jars. Nice looking buds, covered in crystals.
I gave 9 stars because it not quite as strong as I was hoping it might be. Best guess of about 22 % THC.
Even made some kief from the trim.
Check the smoke report for the effects.
Thanks for looking in. 😃
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of this diary. Double Chocolate by 34th St.
Got 383 g from 2 plants. Very good from a sativa dom plant.
This clone is not quite as strong as I would have liked, with a THC content of around 22%
It also has a bit of a body stone too. Not complaining, just saying.
It smells of fruity coffee when I smell the cured stuff in the jars. I get a baking chocolate taste when I've had a couple of breaths after taking a toke.
Over all it a nice strain.
Thanks for the likes.
Chuck.
@Grey_Wolf, Hi Brother. Good to see you. Thanks for the likes. Your a good guy, They are a Canadian co. and seem to be picking up steam as they go. It's legal here in Canada and when I'm around a different dispensary I ask about what seeds they have and this co. is always is mentioned. I traded some Mt. Baker clones for these 2 clones. They smell rather fruity though not like chocolate. Ok Be Cool My Friend. Chuck.
Your plants look great!! Wondering How’s the humic tonic? I use hydro bio humic vital for the same thing daily, I put that stuff in everything haha.
Just curious on your opinion
Hi Buddy. Sounds like you've got a green thumb. Yeah, Growing cannabis isn't hard. After all it is a weed. If you understand growing cannabis try your hand at organic vegetables. Much better than you can buy. Umm. Have you tried to grow outside in Sask yet. Did stuff finish for you? Chuck.
@Chucky324, I’m new to growing but I’ve been around growers most of my adult years and I seem to be either blessed or it’s beneficial because I have seen some great results in my grow to this point.
@Area51Sask, Hello fellow Canadian!!! I noticed that my main nutrient has fulvic acid in it, but no humic acid. I've read about it and found it is very good for the plants. I don't use a lot because it seems to coat the sides of the reservoir and pump. Comes off easily enough. I haven't noticed a hugh increase in quantity though. I'm more about quality and yes I've noticed better taste and smell after using it for the first time. The clerk at the grow store said that this company doesn't make this anymore so I got a different brand. Good Luck. Chuck.
@Traduhh, Hello. I almost named a cat TaaDaa once upon a time. because she would hid to sleep and then there she was - TaaDaa. Is it really TraDuhh? My spelling is bad. Thanks Buddy.
