CaptainJimmyStoned Hi everyone,This is my first time I grow anything. I chose to start with northern light automatic from Royal Queen Seeds. I use 4 3L airpots that I saw in a diary that worked for the white widow auto, and I experimented with 1L Airpot to see the results in the yield. Fingers crossed , I will not burn the plants and I will manage to have a quality yield from them. Regarding the nutrients I use, I preferred organic for my first grow, thus , I use some bacterial which are suitable for auto strains, called Bactomatic.

CaptainJimmyStoned This week I put some bamboo sticks to hold the plants in position. I didn’t yet lowered the lamp cause I read that grow sometimes gets slower when they cahanfe the distance. So I let it as it was.

CaptainJimmyStoned Minor changes had been made in order to ensure same level grow to every plant. Positions in the tent frequently changes in order to speedboat up the grow in some plants that were on the back and they were growing in slower rate.

CaptainJimmyStoned I increased the biogrow to 4ml/l in order to taken more nutrients. Since it’s organic, hopefully, the roots will not block the income of the nutes. Roots are visible now in the trays inside the water that remains there. Therefore , I increased the light schedule to 24hours, adding some biogrow until the end of the week cause the girls started the blooming phase and I see some very small pistils. In this way, I will try to add some more growth to the plants before the changeover to Bio-Bloom and top max.

CaptainJimmyStoned After reading some comments, I installed some adjustable attachments for the light and I reduced the distance between the lamp and the ladies. After consulting my local grow shop, they recommended to reduce the light From 20h to 18h, in order for the plant to rest. I saw great improvements and more bud sites . I started using topmax 2ml, biogrow 4ml and biobloom 2ml /lt.

CaptainJimmyStoned This week I introduced to My plants bio heaven and alg a mic. I also bought a pair of glasses with lenses 25x. I apologize for the last week because I forgot to adjust the height of my plants. Thus, the height for the previous week is innacurrate. IM planning in 3 weeks to harvest. 1 More week with nuts, and after I’m planning to flush them with distilled water for 2 weeks

CaptainJimmyStoned This week I started by changing a) the humidity inside ( changed to 40-45% RH )
b) changing the nutrients schedule so below
- biogrow 1ml /Lt
- biobloom 4ml /Lt
- top max 4ml /Lt
- alg a mic 4ml /Lt
- bio heaven 5ml /Lt.
I reduced the watering to 3 times per week together with the above nuts and increased the water to 2Lts per watering . I’m planning to stick with the above for the next week too sincerely I don’t see anybody see nutrient burn or lockout yet.

CaptainJimmyStoned On week 9, was the last week that I wasn’t using nutrients as per stated quantity. Starting from today the flushing with distilled water, in order to maximize the effect of the flushing. 50-60% of the trichromes are getting cloudy, so I am trying to catch the harvest window for the uplifting high. Today I’m going to flush each pot with 1lt of distilled water in order to take out most of the bytes on th the soil. After that, normal watering with distilled water
Northern Lights were very easy to grow, and the yield was satisfactory, and could be greater if I had the know how from the beginning. My plants responded perfectly to all the nutrients that I gave, all the experiments on them, and the flushing with distilled water. I’m sure that now that I have some knowledge about this strain, I can achieve double or triple yield next time. Thank you very much RQS. It was an awesome 3month journey, and I gained a lot during Rhiannon time:)

CaptainJimmyStoned I harvested on week 10, after I flushed for 2 days with water. The low yield is only my fault that I put too many plants in such a confined space. I learned a lot about growing this strain, and umm happy I achieved to make a high quality yield. Half of my yield was water cured for a week with 2-3cwater changes per day, and the other half, is in progress of air curing. All the trimmings were turned to edibles. Thank you GrowDiaries for the assistance you provide me and of course all the members whine assisted me in so many ways, and reached me a lot !! My first grow ever, and I’m very happy with the results :)
Don’t cut even yellowing leaves. Bend her over and pin her double. Cut wire coat hangers and form a long U. Look at my current NL 5 grow. I bent her over somewhere around your time.
hey there, cutting leaves in half will harm not help. Very few HST techniques have positive effects on autos yield. Basically by now it's impossible to increase the number of flower nodes, but what you can do is increase the yield by removing lower flower nodes so the upper ones get much bigger. You'll often hear that "it's never too late to lst" well yes and no, you can LST but it will harm your yield if you start it too late. Honestly i would clean up the bud sites, make sure the colas are nice and straight and enjoy the show ! the best thing for you to increase your yield is to get a stronger light. Hope this helps ! 🚀
@CaptainJimmyStoned, I see no necessity to flush your plant if you do watercuring. All nutrients are salt, and the Carbs/,molasses you gave are sugar. Salts and sugars are watersoluble. So you can get rid of all disturbing stuff while watercuring.. short version: no flush, and nutes are watersoluble. Happy curing. Its agreat method toboost everything until the last day. Happy curing
Dont agree to Mr. Lothbrock, your Nutrients are good, your Plants still inTransition and stretchin, in this case they will need the NItrogen ( Biogrow) maybe 1 or 2 times more . BUUUUUT not so much Of Biogrow....8ml is way to much !!!!If the Stretch is over you should skip the Biogrow and just giving Blooming fertiliser in a low dosage. When you see nice Responds you can get a higher Dosage in P+K. ( Blooming Fertiliser)
And I wont Defoilate an Automatic Plant.... the Lifecircle is too short for defoilatiing. She gets stressed and want to grow all the leaves again and the energy goes into leaves and not Flowers But you can do some Leaf-Tucking, Look if flowers arrive, which leaves are blocking the Light to the Flowers. and you can pick every time just a few leaves. More additions in the Comments.
Ok here comes the Additions
You can do badly things with Nutrients, and yes less is always more, A plant can handle Nutrient def very well , but to much makes her sick
@CaptainJimmyStoned,yes you are right. Lets talk that per pm...pls right corner down the screen is a paperplane, click on it and aprivate section opens
@CaptainJimmyStoned, Your plants are well on track to giving you kick ass medicine . No matter what at the end of the day you need to PK spike because your starting flower and any grower will tell you that and they will tell you the reasons why just like I done :)
I have to say, check the scope out again. It does not look like you have very many cloudy tricomes, it looks like most are clear. This is kid of a trick played with lighting as when light hits the tricome just right it looks white, but if you look at them at the right angle you can see the round part at the top is clear. I can see this in your first pic entitled 'tricomes'. That said, I think you are pretty safe with 3 weeks before harvest.
@BeefWellingtons, hi bro ! I will cross check them again today, and with different angles and lighting. Do you know if there is a difference flushing with tap water and flushing with distilled water ?
@CaptainJimmyStoned, yes, so the idea of flushing is to remove as much ppm (parts per million) or nutrients and junk in your tap water. Basically to bring the level as low as possible. So why distilled water is better, what you really want to flush with is an even lower ppm. This can be obtained by using RO water (reverse osmosis). You can usually get this at a supermarket that dispenses water into your own jugs. Usually RO water is very low with ppm, like 5 or something. That is the preference for flushing. If you can't get RO water, distilled will work. Hope that helps!
Looking good my friend! The bamboo was a great addition as they seem to be stretching quite bad to reach the light. Check out my Auto Northern Light Grow from earlier this year I had the light as low as 18 inches but I usually kept it at about 24 inches and that was with a 600watt HID lamp which if I am not mistaken would create more heat than the Fluorescent lights
@Wiebechillin, hi bro. Unfortunately I made a mistake and I placed the lamp fixed. Will buy the adjustable strings and I will install them ASAP. The girls are started the flowering phase, and I need as many bud sites as possible. Hopefully adjusting the distance accordingly, will let me achieve that too.
@CaptainJimmyStoned, ohh true, makes sense. The distance will definitely help! Refer to what Bulbi commented, doing that is the best thing for autos because your on such a short time frame. I would do exactly what he said.
Be careful with the nutes because you growing auto's :) i use the same nutrients as you BioBizz but its easy to burn autoflowers.. rather give them a to little than to much.. its easier to fix if they need more :) peace bro
Its good that you darlings are in a smartpot, that makes it very easy to transplant, otherwise in other pots it is very risky. Give them a big pot and they will love it
