hey man yes, basically for defoliation people over do it on the leaves which leaves the plant with less tools to absorb the light energy for photosynthesis. bad leaf defoliation can hurt yield, increase time to harvest, that sort of thing.... however pruning the flower nodes especially the little flower nodes that are located down the branch that will stay small, the so called popcorn bud, if you remove them early enough in flower , then this will force the plant to send the energy to the upper flower sites and these will get fatter, actually improving the yield.
