~ GERMiNATION ~
This winter i'll be growing four varieties - two automatic and two photoperiod.
Autos :
· Purple Haze Automatic - by Zamnesia
· Auto Afghan Kush - by Seed Mafia
Photos :
· Red Banana Pudding - by Anesia Seeds
· Pink Matcha Slush - by Anesia Seeds
Two seeds of each variety - a total of eight (i will also make a separate diary for each of them).
The seeds were sown directly into the substrate (coir rings) and moistened daily with a small amount of water (about 10ml each).
They all sprouted on day seven.
The next day they were planted into the target 20-liter breathable pots.
I reused the substrate from my previous grow (it was half & half mixture of two BioBizz products: Light-Mix & Coco-Mix) by adding a bit of BioBizz All-Mix.
As a fertilizer this season i decided to try the PLAGRON set.
I also have plenty of natural compost, nettle manure and reliable HESI soil kit on hand - in case something goes wrong.
The seedlings are lit 20/4 with MIGRO LED-lamps set to 20% power for now.
~ 1st week ~
In that first week the plants were watered twice (0.25 l of water each) and they developed their first true leaves.
At present, the humidity in the room is about 70% and the temperature - around 22°C.
The large Blaupunkt fan oscillates a strong breeze and the lamps run 20/4 with a low power of 20%.
Plants are about 10 cm tall and doing fine.
~ 2nd week ~
This week (just like in the previous one) the plants were watered twice (0.25 l of water each).
They developed second deck of true leaves.
Banana-1 is 8 cm, and Banana-2 is 6 cm tall.
Pinky-1 is 10 cm, and Pinky-2 is 8 cm tall.
Afghan-1 is 11 cm, and Afghan-2 is 12 cm tall.
Haze-1 is 9 cm, and Haze-2 is 8 cm tall.
At present, the humidity in the room is about 70% and the temperature - around 22°C.
At the end of the week i increased the power of lamps to 60 %.
Plants are doing fine.
~ 3rd week ~
The next (third) week passed without any interruptions.
The plants have developed a third layer of leaves and side shoots are emerging.
Halfway through the week the plants were measuring:
Afghan-1 - 17 cm tall, Afghan-2 - 18 cm tall.
Haze-1 - 13 cm tall, Haze-2 - 10 cm tall.
Banana-1 - 12 cm tall, Banana-2 - 10 cm tall.
Both Pinkies - 13 cm tall.
The humidity in the room is currently about 60% and the temperature - around 22°C.
The plants are fine.
~ 4th week ~
Another (fourth) week went smoothly.
The plants have already developed five levels of leaves, and the side branches are developing nicely too.
Halfway through the week the plants were measuring:
Banana-1 - 20 cm tall,
Banana-2 - 17 cm tall.
Pinky-1 - 18 cm tall,
Pinky-2 - 22 cm tall.
Haze-1 - 23 cm tall,
Haze-2 - 16 cm tall
both Afghans - 30 cm tall.
I still water the plants twice a week, but i have increased the water amount to 0,5 liters per plant.
At the end of the week i also increased power of lamps to 80 %.
The humidity in the room is still about 60% and the temperature - around 22°C.
The plants are doing well.
~ 5th week ~
Afghans started to flower at the beginning of this week.
They are the tallest of all so far (about half meter).
Hazes (just like Afghans) started to flower at the beginning of this week.
They are two phenotypes - one taller sativa-type, and other shorter and bushy (indica-type).
From now on, both Afghans & Hazes will receive nutrients for the flowering phase.
Pinkies are developing wonderfully - they have large leaves and many new branches.
The leaves are intensely green and have purple stripes on the stems.
The same goes to Bananas, but opposite to Pinkies they don't have purple stripes on the stems.
I rearranged the plants a bit for better lighting and increased power of lamps to 100 %.
All plants are fine.
~ 6th week ~
I had a lot of work this week renovating my house and little time and conditions for photography. I also had some business to do in the city, so i wasn't home for a few days (the plants were thirsty and yearning). So, not many photos this time - sorry.
All plants develop elegantly:
Pinkies & Bananas are sturdy and have many side shoots.
Afghans & Hazes bloom profusely - distinct, densely spaced buds with long hairs are formed. Long side shoots with multiple buds.
The leaves are a healthy dark green with slightly purple veins and stems. They have drooped slightly, and the largest leaves in the lower parts have turned slightly yellow (due to water shortage - i will compensate them for it soon).
A delicate perfume scent appears in the air. Nice.
~ 7th week ~
Afghans dominate in growth over the rest of the crop.
They are 75 and 68 cm high, respectively.
Hazes are getting more purple.
Two phenotypes - one tall and slim, the other short and stocky.
They are 58 and 44 cm high, respectively.
Both (Afghans & Hazes) have many side branches and bloom profusely.
They emit a perfume and lemon smell and look beautiful.
Bananas and Pinkies develop very nicely.
Not much upwards for now, but more sideways - more and more new branches.
Pinkies are 38 and 51 cm high, respectively.
Both Bananas are 43 cm high.
They all look beautiful.
~ 8th week ~
Afghans and Hazes bloom profusely - more and more long-haired flowers appear on long branches.
Drops of resin visible to the naked eye. Nice view :)
They have a lot of appetite now, so i water them every day, half a liter.
Look healthy.
Pinkies began to grow higher - catching up with the Afghans in height.
Bananas are a bit smaller than Pinkies, but also began to grow higher rapidly.
They all have healthy dark green leaves and many long side branches.
Look fresh and healthy.
~ 9th week ~
Afghans and Pinkies have stopped growing taller, but are developing wider and sideways.
Afghans are 78 and 71 cm high, and Hazes are 60 and 45 cm high - smaller than Afghans (which surprises me a bit).
The flower hairs are turning red, but new flowers keep coming.
The larger leaves began to turn yellow with the addition of purple - a sign of autumn.
Pinkies and Bananas are dense, have long stems and lots of branches.
Leaves are dark green with purple veins and stems.
Pinkies are 57 and 73 cm tall.
Bananas are 70 and 65 cm tall.
They both already begging to bloom, so i fulfilled their request and changed the lighting time to 12/12.
All plants are beautiful and healthy.
~ 10th week ~
Actually, nothing special happened this week - when it comes to Afghans & Hazes.
Except that the buds drastically gained mass, and with it more shiny resin drops appeared.
But Pinkies & Bananas are different story :
Last week i changed the lighting time to 12/12.
During this time, the plants grew significantly - both in height and width.
Flower buds are forming on the nodes - you can see them clearly and there are plenty of them.
Pinky-1 is 72 cm, and Pinky-2 - 90 cm tall.
Both Bananas are 80 cm tall.
All plants look excellent.
~ 11th week ~
Afghans and Hazes ripen beautifully - the buds are large, abundant and full of resin.
There are also many colors - green, yellow, white, red, brown, purple and pink.
Rainbow garden :)
From what i see, the harvest will be coming soon (probably next week), so i stopped fertilizing and only give water (in small amounts).
The plants are doing great.
Pinkies & Bananas bloom lushly.
More and more flower buds form on the top and branches.
No resin is visible on them yet, and the leaves are a healthy dark green color.
Appear to be happy :)
~ 12th week ~
Afghans & Hazes (autos) are already hanging in the drying room, but there are still Pinkies and Bananas left in the field.
Both Pinkies and Bananas bloom profusely - full of long-haired buds on long stems.
Pinky-1 has particularly long side stems - reaching almost to the very top of the plant so that from a distance it resembles a ball. She is 78 cm tall.
Pinky-2 looks more traditional - like a Christmas tree, but is taller - she's 92 cm.
Both Bananas are 86 cm tall.
The leaves are broad - Indica style, dark green with purple veins.
The resin drops are already very visible on all plants.
They look nice and healthy.
~ 12th week - HARVEST (autos) ~
Afghans and Hazes seem to be very ripe - they have large, dense and hard buds covered with a thick layer of resin.
Most of the large leaves fell off on their own. The ones that remain are multi-colored, with purple predominating - they are also full of resin.
Plants emit an intense citrus-musky scent.
Cut close to the ground and hung whole on strings in a dark and well-ventilated drying room.
They will hang like this for 2-3 weeks, and then I will probably make hash out of them.
Growing was trouble-free, easy and very pleasant.
Seems that smoking will be similar :)

~ 15th week ~
The leaves are starting to take on their fall colors - they are completely purple on the underside.
Bananas even have some leaves purple from the upper side as well.
The buds are becoming more massive and there is more and more resin on them.
They release an intense floral & fruit aroma when moved.
~ 18th week - HARVEST ~
Note:
I accidentally deleted photos from the last two weeks of growing - while transferring them from the camera to the computer :(
This has never happened to me before, and i've done it thousands of times - i don't know what's going on, but just in case, i have now replaced the memory card with a new one.
And today - the harvest.
The plants seem to be at the peak of maturity.
For the last two weeks, they were no longer fertilized, but watered only with water - and only to a minimal extent.
Most of the leaves fell off by themselves last week, and those that remain are dark purple and navy blue (in natural light).
Flowers are covered with a thick layer of resin. The buds are medium in size, but hard as a rock and heavy as lead.
I had to use supports because the branches were bending dangerously under the weight of the flowers (despite the lack of leaves) and were at risk of breaking.
The plants emit very intense, sweet fruity and floral aroma. You can get high from the smell alone - without smoking ;)
All in all, there's quite a lot of good stuff. Exactly how much - i will know after drying and weighing. But i'm satisfied already.
The growing itself was light, easy and pleasant.
I'll write more after smoking - soon ;)
