Germination

Soaked seeds overnight and then used the paper towel method. Put the paper towel in a baggie then in a blanket near a heat register. Tried to get the cat to sit on it like a mother goose, but he wouldn’t. Got antsy and after 48 hours in the paper towel, I moved the seeds directly into the final 5 gal pot in my tent. The seeds showed a small sign of the white stem when moved to soil. After in soil I kept my tent at 65-70% humidity and between 75-85 degrees during the day (lights on 80%) and about 68 degrees at night (lights off, just how warm my basement is). After about 60 hours (day 3) in final pot I got my first action. Both plants poked out of the soil, one looked great and the other has started with a helmet head.

Watered both about a cup of water every two days. Beginning of the week watered 2x a day and started getting algae on the soil, so backed off the water until soil dry. Keeping at 70 RH all day and 78 - 80f temp during day and drops to about 65f at night. All of this scheduled/monitored on vivosun app and smart humidifier. Left Plant - Looking great. Seemed like a normal seedling stage. Slowly grew vertical and toward end of the week got wide. Right plant - Looks good but growing slower than the other plant. This is the one that had helmet head. Eventually took the helmet head off. Next week will plan to switch to a higher light intensity and start a slow fan for air movement. Won’t feed anything until start of week 3 and will be top dressing with down to earth nutes.

Left Plant: This plant seems to be doing very well. I top dressed with dry down to earth all purpose nutes just before the 4 week mark. I wasn’t prepared for how much aroma the dry nutes have. Will continue watering every other day (1.5 L) as the plant is drinking everything quickly now. Right Plant: this was the plant with helmet head and is still a ways behind the other plant. I am noticing that the plant is not drinking like the other one did, as the soil doesn’t seem to dry out. I have refrained from watering until I see the soil drying out. No nutes yet for this plant. Overall - There was certainly a bit of a scent that came through this week. Smelled great until the dry nutes took over the scent when top dressed / watered into plant. Humidifier created a white dusty residue on the tent, which I read is due to the water drying and minerals remaining in the tent. Washed off my carbon pre filter and cleaned the tent.

To end Week 3 of Veg - Left Plant - Still looking very healthy. Did some pruning at the bottom of the plant and also a lot of leaf tucking to allow sun to get to bud sites. Also have tied down some additional branches to spread plant out. Added 1 C of worm castings as a top dress. Using all of the water I give it each day. Watering every other day. Right Plant - Looks healthy but not as full as left plant. Gave nutes (Down to Earth all purpose) for the first time and also added 1 C worm castings - both top dressed. Not using water as fast as Left plant. Tied down branches but didn’t prune any. Added a scent control outside of the tent. Scent gel from Fresh Wave, and that helped a lot for smell outside the tent (mainly was from organic fertilizer at this point). Week 4 of veg will just water, leaf tuck and prune where needed. Will also likely flip lights over to flower setting mid week.

Left Plant: Still looks to be doing great. Gave it one round of Gia Green Power Bloom at the end of the week, otherwise just continued with leaf tucking and watering about 2 L every other day. Right Plant: Still looks behind in overall veg of the plant but is almost as tall now as the other plant. Given it’s a little behind I held off on Gia Green and will give tomorrow going into the new week. This plant is now drinking 1.5L of water every other day. Switched light setting over to Flowering stage and won’t run the humidifier any longer during flower, assuming the humidity now will stay around 55-60%.

The stretch in the plant over the past week has been crazy. The plants grew a lot after my last update. One mistake made - gave nutrients (top dressed) the same plant again after only 5 days of the first Gia Green application. Meant to do it in the Right plant but accidentally did it again to the Left plant. We will see what happens but all seems OK for now. Left Plant - good form and is busy and buds coming in nicely. Right Plant - Tall and ‘stringy’ but otherwise looks healthy. Just looks much different than other plant (same seeds) and not sure why. Will top dress Gia Green again soon.

Week 12. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

Missed some diary entries but pictures show history from week 6 to 12 (harvest). Harvest produced much more than expected (198 grams from one plant). Second plant had something wrong with it but harvested it and will use it for cooking. Overall reaction to first grow was it was great! Everyone that has sampled agrees that this is a joyful / energetic high to start but then creeps on you and gets you stoned after the joyful high wears off. Very strong odor in room that I’ll need to work on but may just be that I picked a very skunky/potent strain to start with.

Nice looking girls. Reason y your plant on the left got ahead a bit, is she didn't have the PH issues the left 1 did. Some phenos (strains) might be more sensitive swings in PHs as it travels through the sub. Its at to coming out of it and seems to be catching up. Good luck on your journey
