Ended up accidentally torching the two previous Gold Leaf plants, so we start over. Seedling is currently in a rapid rooter under a humidity dome with the light at 30" at 30% intensity. Once she's established she's going into a Solo Cup with Happy Frog only. Previous soil mix was too hot for the seedlings, I ended up losing both of them.
3 Granddaddy Purple Autos will be along for the ride in this grow, currently germinating in paper towel underneath the plates. All 3 seeds are popped, just waiting on the taproots to grow out a little more before they also go into Rapid Rooters.
Day 2 - Nothing notable to report, just staying out of the Gold Leafs way and making sure her cube has enough water to stay moist. GDP auto seeds had nice looking long taproots under the plates, so they went into their Rapid Rooters 15 minutes before lights went off for the night.
Day 3 - Gold Leaf appears to be doing well, looking much greener than yesterday and happy in the dome. Little yellowing on one of the seed leaves, but I'm not too concerned as she struggled a little bit to find her way out from below the surface.
The 3 GDP autos are looking good, one is already starting to peek out above the Rapid Rooter. All 4 will get more water as needed when the cubes are looking like they need it, probably in the PM.
Day 4 - All the seedlings appear to be doing okay, noticed a white-ish substance on one of the Gold Leafs seedling leaves. Mold maybe? Leaves are dark green otherwise, so I'm going to lay off on watering it for today. 3 autos got a few squirts of water from the sprayer as their rooters were drier than the Gold Leaf rooter.
Day 5 - Gold Leaf is recovering from a bit of overwatering, but seems to be doing okay. GDP Autos are all doing well, but are starting to stretch a bit towards the light. I bumped the intensity of the light from 30% to just under 40% to see if that helps them out. No water/feed for now, as the plugs still look moist and according to General Hydroponics, the plugs are fortified with nutrients already. Height extender went on the dome today to allow for more vertical space/air in the dome.
Gold leaf #1 has developed a white substance on one of its seed leaves. Can anyone tell me what this is, and if I need to do anything to combat it it necessary? Going to let the Gold Leaf dry a little bit (no water) over the next 24 hours and see if that helps.
if that is a peat plug or anything like it, it is void of nutrients and plants need them to grow.
It also looks to wet and waterlogged that's not good for the baby roots.
Double check you feed concentrations and watering habits. less is more in terms of water in seedlings and a week feed should be good for mediums void of nutrients.
Best Of Luck!
For people who use Blumat systems, what's the procedure for mixing in nutrients/supplemental things for growth? The Blumat system pulls water when the soil dries past a certain point, so what's the best rule for feeding in that case? Shut the system "off" a few days pre feed?
Your plants look really good. My grow setup is very similar to yours. My plants are in day 15 starting wk3. Keep up the good work. GDP is a great strain. One of my wife’s favorites. We love the purple strains the best.
