Planted seeds directly in soil. 3 out of 4 popped. I buried one too deep and the soil was too dense I think. The seed opened up but the root never really shot out. Anyways, the Shawty R1s look healthy, I used a couple layers of plastic to diffuse the light a bit bc I have no dial on the light so it’s 100 or nothing. I planted directly in soil because I feel like it weeds out weak plants, plus I can get them in the tent and getting light on the as soon as they sprout.
All 3 plants are looking great and very uniform so far. Transplant was easy peasy with no signs of shock or slowing in growth. They are loving the Fox Farms happy frog soil that they were born in and shall continue to be transplanted in. I’m just adding kelp/humic acids and silica phd to 6.4-6-5 for now until they use up whatever is in the happy frog. I’ve read it should take them to around week 6 but I’ll probably start easing them in to the botanicare bloom soil juice next week. There’s not much info on growing/harvesting this strain
so I hope I can provide some hands on documentation for anyone else looking to grow it. It checks all the boxes for me as far as the Ethos site goes. Great looking/smelling, max thc, short flower time big yields… what more can you ask for ? 🤷♂️
trying to dial in the light and humidity in the 4x4 tent… with my exhaust fan on 1 I can keep the RH at 60, which is fine, but these plants definitely liked it better around 65-70 when they were in my 3x3. trying to find a happy balance between the light, heat, and humidity while trying to read them for nutes I should add… I have a TDS meter and a led PAR meter on the way, so hopefully that takes some of the guess work out of it.
I was planning to trellis net this tent, but unfortunately I’ve had to water these with a lot of runoff as I had a lot of buildup in the soil. The Recharge magic powder fucked my PPMs all up so I switched back to just the Pure Blend Pro and a little kelp/humic juice every 4 waterings or so. Anyways, I don’t have a convenient way to get rid of runoff right now so I need to take the plants out to water. so I can’t trellis. I have some drain trays on the way so maybe that’ll help
Super easy plants to grow, they are getting big and thirsty. I’m not thrilled about the amount of leaves and branches in these circumstances. This strain would be great to grow one or two plants per tent and scrog out, or start heavy training super early. Flipped to flower about a week ago.
This strain kicks ass so far. Chunky, frosty, hearty, smells from the buds are strong and complex. fruity, earthy, trashy, piney, skunky, sour, garlicky… getting frost lines on all the sugar leaves. If they continue to do what they’re doing this shit is gonna slap.
Getting yellowing and dying off of some big fan leaves on 1 of 3 plants, may be because it’s a little taller and closer to the light, it may need more nutrients 🤷♂️ I recently gave it a flush, and then some cal mag plus and some nitrogen rich aminas. only has 20-30 days left so I’m not too worried about it. all 3 plants are looking great. no real cray smell unless you disturb the buds. just the usual natural gas with a hint of skunk that most hybrids smell like during the first half of flower. the flowers smell very complex if you touch them.
pine fruit skunk steak… everything is frosty, down the the lower larf
