I've started another Sweet Gelato grow from Sweet Seeds. My first grow with this strain was amazing; quick, easy, and it packed a punch. I'm hoping to improve on my yield with this round. I'm using Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil, so no need for nutrients any time soon. And we're off and running.......

I've noticed an odd thing with my new Sweet Gelato plant. The leaves aren't curling as much as they're twisting. I'm not sure if this is a genetic thing or something else. I've never experienced this before. Any ideas?

Yikes Thats some serious twisting Could be 1 of 2 things. Your ph is way to acidic. (Too high) But your plant as a whole looks fine I do notice the same twisted leafs are under the same node set. My guess..as that's all it is Is just a mutation. Hold firm and watch her grow make sure you ph compliments your substrate. But, wait & c is all I can say Not like you can grab an iron.

We're at the 2 week mark and I made some adjustments this week. As the pictures show, the bottom fan leaves "twisted." The feedback I've received pointed to a PH imbalance or simply a genetic defect. I've only been giving her water, as the soil has plenty of nutrients already. The soil PH is 6.2 and I noticed my water's PH has edged up a bit and is currently at 6.9. I've been bringing it down to 6.0, as it was on the high end. The good news is that it's only the bottom fan leaves that are twisting. All the leaves above look perfect and overall the plant seems very healthy. We'll see how the next week goes before thinking about how I want to train them.

It looks like I forgot to update the diary last week. We've just made it to 4 weeks and she's getting ready to transition into the flowering stage. I had a glitch with another plant this week, so have been extra cautious with this plant. I have branches tied down and have been defoliating this week to open up the airflow. She's short and bushy, and I'm going to let her grow naturally for the remainder of the week with minimal defoliation. I have a tendency to push things too hard resulting in stupid mistakes. I'm trying to have self-discipline and let the plant do the work. I did use vegetative nutrients this week to help the recovery after defoliation and she seems extremely healthy and sturdy. We'll let her run and see how she does this week.

The growth really starting exploding this past week. She grew over a foot and is now standing at 20" tall. The buds are really starting to develop and I've started giving her flowering nutrients. I'm continuing to lightly defoliate but am otherwise leaving her alone. She seems very healthy and has a beautiful green color.

This Sweet Gelato plant's growth has really started to pick up steam. It grew another half foot this past week and the buds are starting to develop very nicely. This is actually my 3rd grow with this strain. In the first 2 grows I aggressively used LST and had the plant essentially growing sideways, but for this grow I've left it alone to see how this yield compares to previous grows. It's in the fun part of the growth cycle and I'm really excited to see this plant flourish and the buds to fatten up over the next few weeks!

Another week in the books and this Sweet Gelato plant continues to impress. The bud growth is exploding and she's giving off an incredible smell. She's fattening up quickly and evenly. She has a nice green, healthy color, and the central stalk is like a tree trunk. She's very sturdy. I'm continuing with the Botanicare Pro Bloom and am defoliating sparingly. For the most part I'm leaving her alone to do her thing.

This Sweet Gelato strain is very impressive. The buds are filling out nicely and gaining weight each week. I've been defoliating lightly and letting her do her thing. This is such a fun strain to grow and I'm excited to see how the next few weeks play out.

She continues to put on weight and has some big buds forming. She seems extremely healthy and I'm simply feeding and watering, and doing minimal defoliation. The central cola is really filling out nicely. I figure I still have a couple of weeks before harvest, but am getting excited to see how this does over that time. It was a nice and easy week!

I've started a flush with this Sweet Gelato plant and plan on harvesting this upcoming week. The buds have formed beautifully and the plant is exceptionally healthy. This is my 3rd time growing SG and it's by far the best grow of the 3. She's packed on a lot of weight and her trichomes are becoming cloudy. I'll continue flushing for the next 48 hours before placing her in the dark for another 48. Afterwards she'll be coming down to dry and cure. I'm very curious to see what the final dry weight of this plant comes out to.

This Sweet Gelato plant has been harvested. The majority of the trichomes were cloudy, so I decided to take her down. At day 72, I placed her into total darkness and didn't water for 48 hours. On day 74 I harvested and began drying. The buds have been drying for 72 hours and it looks like they need another day or two before going into jars with a Boveda pack to cure for the next month. This plant was very easy to grow and she really packed on weight over the final few weeks. After harvesting, the smell was very pungent with the smell of chlorophyll breaking down within the plant. Overall I'm very happy with this grow. The next and final update in this diary will be in about a month and I can get a final weight and provide a smoke test!

I've grown Sweet Gelato before and am familiar with this strain. It's a very smooth smoke with an earthy, woody taste. It also has a hint of citrus which is very pleasant. It's definitely potent and produces a very relaxed body high. Overall a great strain!

After a week of drying and 5 weeks of curing, it's finally time for a final review. This plant was very easy to grow and produced beautiful buds. The final dry weight came out to 90 grams even.
