Day One.
Hello world.
By the time I saw her, she was already an inch tall.
Gave her a little taste of water and placed her in the grow box.
Updated 10/20/18
End of Week One
She's gaining exponentially.
Will replant her this week and prep for how I would like her to grow.
She is feminized cheese cake.
My intentions are to top her. Then pull her over.
Extend the vegetation period to allow for branch development.
Then establish her flowering cycle.
With any luck, I'll get a lot of nice flowers to stink up the place.
😁
she's really starting to grow good now
transplanted into her final home, a 7 gallon bucket
she's adjusted to the new environment and taking off
i can see the fourth node, so i'm thinking i'll start with the nutrients next week
She's doing very well. Branches have started forming. Good color. Broad leaves. Yesterday I topped her at the fifth node. Today I taped down the biggest leaf, pulling her towards the side. Started nutrients two days ago.
I'm shooting for big nugs on this grow. This one is for personal use. I've heard a lot about the cheese and I'm looking forward to the end result.
I plan on extending the veg cycle by a couple of weeks, to allow her to develop a little more. Another change I am planning is using Advanced Nutrients for the bloom phase. While I was growing in Humboldt we used enzymes and also bat guano. So I'm looking into obtaining what I can.
So far, a great start though.
She was topped a few days ago. New branches are already over a CM. The lower branches are longer and growing vertically now.
Her canopy is getting larger. Her height is deceptive due to the tie down and being topped.
Noticed she is starting smell. When I open the room, you can definitely tell there is an order in the air :-) Lovin' that scent though 😍
This week rounds out her 4th week, but I am going to give another week of veg time to ensure she is fully mature before shifting into flowering mode and changing the lighting to 12/12 w/2000k LED.
broke a branch this week, damn it
will change the time settings this weekend, start the flowering cycle
finally trimmed off the biggest leaves and cleaned up the branches being trained, i think i got them to a good point + they still have a few more days of veg
not as pretty or well manicured as some of the other plants i have seen on grow diaries
all in all though, i think the plant is doing well and should be a good flowering stage
Still in veg mode
Managed to get the branches as equally spaced as I can
I think I will leave this one alone now
Let it ride until the weekend, then start the flower cycle
Water only this week.
Starting Advanced Nutrients regiment tomorrow for the flowering. Picked up a sample pack, just enough to finish this grow :-)
Gave her one last serious cut at the beginning of the week.
I set up the grow tent for the flowering period.
Moved her to the grow tent.
Then the last two days, I turned off the lights, and forgot about the fan.
During the darkness, droplets of water formed on the leaves. I had forgotten the fan and left it off.
Once I realized that, I turned the fan back on. Little white spots appeared where the droplets were.
Sunday 12/1 is the first day of 12/12 lighting.
I'm running out of time so I've gone ahead with starting the flowering stage now.
It's going to effect the yield but I can't help that.
First full week of 12 / 12 lighting
She is starting to really grow now
Canopy has filled out nicely
Starting to see trichomes
The odor is getting stronger
The leaves are getting some stickiness to them
Overall things are developing nicely
Should start seeing some flower development pretty soon
growing really fast, branches are extending and the leaves reaching for the light
recovery and growth rates are very nice, very fast
appears very healthy
i did give her a partial trim on the branches from the lower end of the stalk
those branches are thinner and will not produce much anyway
the upper branches i left alone, just see what they will do
flowers starting forming this week
by my count, there will be 12 kolas plus more smaller flowers underneath the main canopy
i'm using advanced nutrients for this grow
i picked up a sample pack to use for the flowering period
its been only a couple of weeks but the plant is responding very nicely
Amazing growth
Flowers popping out all over
Smell is getting stronger
All but one branch grew about 5 inches this week, that branch remains about the same size as four weeks ago - it's thick and healthy, just no upward growth. It's fallen far enough behind its now starting to get blocked out from the light by the height of the other branches. Truth be told - I really do need a couple of smaller lights, pointed horizontally.
If I extrapolate the growth rate, shape and position of the flowers - the kolas are going to be quite sizeable.
Water consumption is increasing, up to 5 L per week
Because of the consumption increase, I've been alternating Advanced Nutrients and CNS17 Nutrients
About once a month I'll mix in a small amount of bat guano
Overall, I think it'll be a good productive grow.
No strings on me....
I took off all restraints, she's a free bird now...
Her flowers are developing further and the kolas are really taking shape, smell is getting stronger still.
After all the tie-downs were removed, the branches lifted a little, but for the most part they retained the turn upwards. Overall, the plant tightened up a little bit. which worked out nicely, because now, she fits perfectly under the light.
I had a little worry about the overlapping leaves and the condensation they create. So I repositioned the fan to provide the plant with an indirect flow of air. Now the leaves move slightly with the air current. I still see a little condensation, but not much at all.
right now, I'm just monitoring the nutrients and making sure she does not get thirsty
if i step back and look at everything
had i given her a full and proper vegetation period
she would have been a monster of a plant
even though she is short, her bud to branch ratio is still impressive
and she will produce a fair amount
by my count
16 kolas, ranging from 15cm to 25cm
I noticed a little bit of light stress at the beginning of the week, on a few of the leaves on the top.
My light setup is already pulled up as far it will go, so I had to lower the plant a bit.
But I think she's happier now.
Fed the girl and also added a bat guano mix.
I like adding the bat-mix a few days before the monthly water flushing.
Flower-wise, she is doing really well.
The flowers are just starting to develop some girth.
Trichomes are sparkling, and her scent will simply make you smile.
Another month and she's done cookin'.....
Gettin' bigger every day :-)
Her color is back - where the leaves had started showing some light stress.
The two branches that were left untouched, had started causing some heat and moisture issues. All that was sorted out with a little trimming and a little clean up.
Flower density is developing very nicely. Obviously the trichomes are too :-)
My intention in the upcoming week is to give her one more dose of bat guano and then finish the nutrient regiment.
Overall - at this point - The end of the tunnel is getting a bit brighter.
Will have to start planning for the harvest soon enough.
Mid-week post, more to come
Some of her hairs are starting to turn color
But her growth remains steady, getting bigger
5/18
Everyday I am amazed by the new growth on this girl
Even though I had to start her flowering cycle early (so that she'd be finished by a certain date)
She still has such amazing looking kolas
I feel or rather I know, had I allowed her to veg for another month
She would have been an absolute monster
When I get back around to growing this strain again
It's going to be scary - In a good way 👽
Oh yeah!
This girl got a very nice compliment from a High Times employee the other day
So a shout out to HT !!!
👍
Mid-week post. More to come.
1/22
Still looking amazing 😁
Trichomes are showing some action. Most are turning cloudy to milky. On a few older leaves there are a few that are starting to turn tan. No where near amber, but still turning to color. I'm thinking about 2 - 2 1/2 weeks more to grow. So I'll feed her one more time and then put her on water only.
1/26
She's in the straight away, heading for the finish line. 😎
She's had her last meal. Water only from here on out.
She's had a haircut, I've removed a large portion of an leaves. Making sure air and light can travel thru the plant.
Even though color is starting to show. All flowers are still showing significant growth.
It looks like her flower density is as it should be. They all look wonderful to me.
Walking into the room, the smell is like walking into an entire garden. She is strong with the force 💪.
I can't think of a single leaf that turned full on yellow.
Had some minor light damage, but recovered fully.
Overall, it's been a good solid grow.
👌
At this point, I'm just waiting on amber. I figure about 2 weeks -ish...
She's doing really well. Getting phatter everyday 😎 Branches are starting to lean 👌
Gave her a final super flush, and made certain she drained as much as gravity would allow.
She's on water only now ( if she gets thirsty again ).
I had to get a little drastic on the defoliation.
Because I found three spots where mold had started deep inside the flowers.
Luckily, I've been doing twice daily inspections, so the damage was minimal.
The temperature swings here lately have made things rather difficult in trying to maintain a consistent environment.
Temps have been near 0 and has caused the ground and floors to freeze or go near freezing.
I've added insulation to the floors of the tents and an extra heater for the room.
Seems to be working.
About half of the hairs are red or turning red.
Trichomes are cloudy to milky white. Some are turning to color, but not as many as I thought would be by this point.
I'm still thinking another week or so. Maybe even longer going by her current growth rate.
She's been showing a lot of amber for a few days now.
Looking good. Smelling loud. Feeling phat.
Growth rate has slowed down significantly.
I'm gonna take her down over the next day or two.
I do wish I had extended her veg period, but still, she turned out marvelous.
58cm tall, 38cm of vegetation produced some very nice flowers.
Nice density. Strong order. Very Sticky.
Smoked a few before storing.
Nice feeling. Will taste a lot better once cured properly.
The flowering of your plants looks to be progressing very well. There not much better than watching the flowering nodes begin to take shape and form beautiful buds. I'm eager to see how your grow finishes up and I wish you all the best in the rest of growing these girls. Cheers :D
The flowering nodes on your plants look to be absolutely amazing. You've done such an amazing job with this grow so far and I'm so excited to see how these plants finish up as well as to hear how they smoke. Best wishes my friend :D
@SensiSmellYahLater, Thank you very much 😎 I appreciate that. I'm looking forward to the finish as well. I figure the end of January - ish and she'll be done cookin'.
@Mrs_Larimar, Thank you and be nosey - no worries :-)
The branches from the lower end of stalk are thinner, so I trimmed those a little extra, so that they could focus on the main flower on the branch.
The branches from the upper end of the stalk, I pretty much left alone. Just to see what they would do. One is untouched from the tie string up. One has the first node past the tie string trimmed, And the last one has two nodes past the tie string trimmed.
Between the various points of where the nodes were trimmed, you can see a difference in growth rate.
((Which is what I wanted to see, that specific difference in growth rate - when related to trimmed branches.))
The next grow - I will try mainlining.
