📆 Germination Week, 16-22 January 2024 16 January - Placed a single seed in a cup of RO water, put in grow tent under a ViperSpectra XS2000 at 25%, light cycle 24hrs, temp 74 degrees F. 19 January - Seed cracked, root appeared. Placed seed into Root Riot starter cube. (see picture). 21 January - Seed sprouted from starter cube (see picture). 📑 This seed was in long term storage for over 2 years, a deep freeze temperature consistantly below freezing. I felt she deserved a chance, it is in fact a great strain. She eargerly abliged and sprouted with anticipation of her potential future. So here we go. 🌊 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🍽️ Root Riot starter cubes 💡 ViperSpectra XS2000 Light power at 25% That is it for this week. Thanks for the look, read and stopping by.

📆 Week 1, 23-29 January 2024 23 January - Placed sprout into permanent 5 gal Deep Water Culture home. Main tap root showing and will hit the water immediately. Placed clear dome over top to control VPD until outside weather conditions return to normal, that influence the indoor humidity levels. Currently the temperature is 0-5 degrees F. 25 January - Removed dome from plant, outside normal humidity levels have returned to 40-50%. This helps to provide a more favorable tent RH. Ventalation and temperature can control VPD without additional moisture for the most part without too much stress to the seedling. Filled the bottom of plant basket with expanded clay pebbles. 29 January - Checked the seedling roots (see picture). Satisfied with the growth and development. 📑 I’m very transparent with my grows from start to finish. Genetics tell half the story, the other half is simply environmental conditions that influence the plant throughout its life cycle. During the first couple of weeks it is roots that must develope to support plant mass. Not much top growth will take take place. This is nothing to worry about. As long as all conditions are met for rapid growth it is doing its thing developing deep roots to find water and expanding its reach to support leaf matter. It will grow slowly, roots and leaf simultaneously, but until that root structure has developed sufficently, growth will not explode and this usually takes a couple of weeks. I guess what I’m saying is comparative success at this stage is very premature. 🍽️ 23 January Initial nutrient solution made 🐲 23 January feeding schedule posted 🌊 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient Solution EC 1.1 at 65 degree F 💡 Light power at 25% That is it for this week. 📆 Week 2, 30 January - 5 February 2024 30 January - The VPD is averaging about 1.90 kPa, not the idea conditions of 1.0 kPa. So the seedling is under a little stress. But not to the point where its development is jeopardized, maybe some minor leaf curling. I’ll continue to monitor and check for any other signs of growth issues. 📑 To truely get into VPD you need to get very accurate readings at the proper locations within your grow. The more you learn about it the more you can drive yourself crazy being a perfectionist. The amount of control indoor growing has given growers is incredible. With the introduction of superior tents, it has given growers the opportunity to take plants to their genetic potential. 📑 Cannabis has about reached its peak in development. The real possibility of going beyond 35% THC potency naturally is nearly impossible. This is because cannabis can only produce so many trichomes and resin glands. It cannot stack trichomes on top of trichomes. Any further developement would require direct genetic editing. Why do that expense when we have extracts and hashes available. This is plant research science engineering fundamentals. 1 February - Seedling is growing steady in a stable environment. 5 February - Seedling is well on its way to progressing into a young healthy plant. 📑 During the winter months when freezing ground and cold air surround some of us, solving VPD solutions long term tend to be problematic. You can introduce cold vapor, adjust heat, ventalation, monitor and chase that number all day long. Eventually get it right, but then that plant will grow out of it in a few days. Until the plant takes up a good amount of space in your grow room anyway and helps stabilize conditions. VPD is a tool, and actually works. If your experiencing sudden issues with your plant, it should be one of the 1st things to check because it is easy and immediately correctable. But should you chase it daily? Well, I certainly do not, so it’s a matter of climate conditions, severe fluctuations, plant reactions, and personal preferences as to how and if you even use it at all. I use it more than I mention it in my notes, although it is not noteworthy unless it is in the stressful range. 🍽️ 30 January no change of initial nutrient solution 🐲 30 January no change to feeding schedule 🌊 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient Solution EC .9 at 65 degree F 💡 Light power = 1 at 25%, 1 at 50% That is it for this week. The VPD numbers keep getting better and closer to what is considered ideal for a vegetive state between .8-1.1kPa. The best thing to do is nothing, let this plant grow and develop its root structure without intervention. 📆 Week 5, 20-26 February 2024 20 February - Removed upper leaves to expose lower branches (see picture). 21 February - Removed shoots from lower branches to direct energy up and out. 22-26 February - Vacation time for a week. Handed off to trusted grower. 📑 Pictures are fewer this week because of vacation. But will be on time again next week. Growth has been going well so far. 📆 Week 8, 12-18 March 2024 12-18 March - Let the plant grow and observed. 📑 The end of this week, the start of next week she will be flipped into the 12hr cycle. I look at the beginning of the period a little different than most. This transition can take up to 2 weeks before pistil formations can be seen - a true sign of flowering, and during this time it has the potential to gain substantial mass. So I continue to consider it in a vegetative state until flowers start forming. It’s easier for me to keep up with actual flowering weeks this way. 🍽️ 12 March changed nutrient solution 🐲 12 March updated feeding schedule 🌊 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient Solution EC 2.5 at 63 degree F 💡 Light power at 50%, DLI 35 canopy coverage at 18hrs That is it for this week. I expect the outer branches will stretch a bit more this coming week. There will be a few branches cut off due to the inability to keep up and being shaded out. 📆 Week 10, 26-31 March and 1 April 2024 27 March - Defoliated large leaves, cut off branches that were shaded out and not able to keep up with plant growth, shaped and repositioned bud points to get even light. 28-31 March - Let the plant grow and observed. 1 April - Obvious signs of budding started with the formation of pistil clusters. 📑 This is the second week of pre-flower, or transition. She has grown and stretched very well. I expect she will continue to stretch a bit more this coming week. The later of this week she definitely showed early pistil clusters, so next week is what I consider the first true week of flower. 🍶 26 March changed nutrient solution 🍽️ 26 March updated feeding schedule 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient Solution EC 2.6 at 62 degree F 🔆 Light power at 75%, DLI 40-45 canopy coverage at 12hrs 😤 Using General Hydroponics, HGC728040, Dual Diaphragm Air Pump, 320 GPH That is it for this week. 📆 Week 13, 16-22 April 2024 16-20 April - Let the plant grow. 21 April - Increased light power to 100%. 22 April - Let grow and observe for signs of light stress. This week her bud began to grow in length, so I decided it was time to turn up the light intensity to help manage this process. This will bring the DLI to 60. Understanding this is a high level I do closely watch and observe. Because the light has increased the heat will raise some, so there may be a chance of burn to look out for. I dont expect either one because of the distance from plant to light, but am aware. Her water consumption will also increase. 🍶 16 April changed nutrient solution 🍽️ 16 April updated feeding schedule 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient Solution EC 2.6 at 69 degree F 🔆 Light power at 100%, DLI 55-60 canopy coverage at 12hrs 😤 Using General Hydroponics, HGC728040, Dual Diaphragm Air Pump, 320 GPH That is it for this week. 📆 Week 15, 30 April - 6 May 2024 30 April - Turned light power to 75%. 1 May - Did a significant defoliation. 2-6 May - Observed and let the plant grow. 📑 I was debating on keeping the lights at 100%, or defoliating the plant. Defoliating won this time. There just wasnt enough light penetration getting to the lower buds (half the plant) to mature them for maximum growth and quality yield. So leaving the lights that bright did not achieve my expectations. It is a tricky situation when you start taking leaves away from a plant in flower, but when shadows are blocking bud developement you have to balance your grow and open it up. My method is to start with the lowest leaves and work your way up, use common sense, discard yellowing and damaged ones first, leaving the healthy green leaf on the plant. Then strategically remove the few that shadow the buds you want more focus on. This will help ensure the plant continues processing energy while avoiding possible shock by removing too much leaf. 🍶 30 April changed nutrient solution 🍽️ 30 April updated feeding schedule 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient Solution EC 2.2 at 72 degree F 🔆 Light power at 75%, DLI 45-50 canopy coverage at 12hrs 😤 Using General Hydroponics, HGC728040, Dual Diaphragm Air Pump, 320 GPH That is it for this week. 📆 Week 16, 7-13 May 2024 7-12 May - Observed and let the plant grow. 13 May - Checked trichomes for maturity level (see pictures). 📑 The pistil hairs have darkened. Flowers continue to swell. It was time the trichomes were checked from the top buds to the bottom, and they are where I expected them to be right now. The top heads show about 5% or more amber, a good 80% are milky and the rest clear. While the lower heads show no amber at all. So another 2 weeks before harvest. 📆 Week 17, 14-20 May 2024 14 May - Defoliated yellowing and older leaves. 15-16 May - Observed and let the plant mature. 17 May - Decreased DLI to help mature buds. 📑 Another decision was made to defoliate more yellowing and older leaves. There are plenty of green leaves left and the light now penetrates to the bottom buds. With about 2 weeks left in flower, this gives her ample time to get as close to matureing as a whole plant as possible. Although the bud size is somewhat smaller than anticipated, they appear tight and very uniform. The trichomes overall are 80% milky/10% amber/10% clear. Almost all pistil hairs are dark, and her smell has peaked with a sweet pine, gas, fruity scent. This was the last week of flower and she’s ready for the final week of flush and harvest. 🍶 21 May changed nutrient solution 🍽️ 21 May updated feeding schedule 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Nutrient Solution EC .9 at 70 degree F 🔆 Light power: one at 75%, and one at 50%, DLI 35-40 canopy coverage at 12hrs 😤 Using General Hydroponics, HGC728040, Dual Diaphragm Air Pump, 320 GPH That is it for this week. Thanks for the look, read and stopping by.

📆 Harvest Week, 28 May - 4 June 2024 28-29 May - Observed and let the plant mature. 30 May- 3 Jun - Flushed plant. 4 Jun - Harvest (see pictures). 📑 The final week. Harvest time. Although I have destroyed my netting getting her cut the way I want to hang, it was well worth it. Larger limbs take a little longer to dry and that is what I need, a slower dry. For this reason I’m only removing larger and yellowing leaves. I’m hoping on 14 days in a closet controlled environment at 55% RH and 70 degrees F. Then it will be trimmed and placed into 1 quart mason jars with Boveda 62% TerpShield, and burped daily until a RH of 62% is maintained for long term storage. Overall Grow Review: With all environmental conditions met, this plant can get as big as you want it to. But to get big buds you have to carefully balance your nutrients to get maximum production. Reflecting back over the weeks, this is what ultimately caused the buds to be smaller than anticipated. I do not believe she was adequately feed during flower. This is a much bigger plant than I am normally use to growing, and I did not get into the habit of checking the solution PPM in-between scheduled weekly feeding changes. So when she started flowering I suspect she became a more heavy feeder, nutrients should have been changed twice per week or every 5 days depending. Only a guess. Would I grow it again? This is not my first Wedding Cake grow - so absolutely! Smoq Report: The smoke has a very strong effect that comes on slow and stays for a while! A nice head and body buzz that brings out talk and laughter. Nice for recreational or medicinal use. Will not couch lock at all, quite the opposite in fact! 🍶 30 May changed nutrient solution to flush solution 💧 Using reverse osmosis water with EC/TDS at 0 🐉 Flush Solution EC .0 at 70 degree F 🔆 Light power: one at 25%, and one at 50%, DLI 35 canopy coverage at 12hrs 😤 Using General Hydroponics, HGC728040, Dual Diaphragm Air Pump, 320 GPH That is it for this week.
