I have 2 Tangerine Dream Auto seeds from Growers Choice seeds that I soaked in a glass of water for 24 hours. After they were directly planted into Coco Loco Potting Mix. One seed sprouted on 11/4/23 and the other sprouted on 11/10/23. The light cycle was on 24/0 for the first 2 weeks.
The plants were transplanted into 5 gallon fabric pots in my 2x4 with a 70/30 Coco Loco/Perlite mix after spending their first 2 weeks in solo cups in my 2x2 tent. I used mykos when transplanting and was happy to see that the girls experienced little to no transplant shock. The new lighting schedule was changed to 18/6 around end of first week/mid 2nd week.
Week 2 they really started to take off and got used to their new home. at this point I was only waterings every couple of days as I had no experience with Coco Loco and wasnt sure how to treat it, whether i water and feed like coco or like soil. Nevertheless, whatever I was doing they loved it!
Plant growth is explosive at this point and I topped both the plants as well as LST. I'm- writing this journal after the whole grow so I'm going off my written grow journal and trying to remember the order to which I explain it. Also a big thing with this grow, i bought auto seeds and this is my second run of these seeds and none of them flowered on their own on my previous grow or this one.
I put up trellis at end of week 3 and they started to fill out the trellis in under a week. I've been feeding them relatively heavy on the nutrients for a sativa but they love it! I was waiting for these plants to flower on their own, thinking my last grow got a dud auto seed. All 3 seeds I got ended up working like a photoperiod. No complaints from me though as I prefer photos to autos.
I lolly popped these gals to try and get little to no popcorn nugs but I vegged these ladies for a bit longer then I should have for the size of this tent. They are humming along so far and i havent had any issues. Only thing that tricked me this grow was ppm of runoff with it being preamended to i couldnt gauge much off that when feeding because my runoff numbers were through the roof. anyways, onward and upward!
Starting to see bud sites forming and growth is still explosive but this is where i started having some issues. Lightly burned tips but nothing terrible but being as this was preamended, I couldnt treat it like it is straight coco coir.
At this point my trellis is rendered useless, it just helped me with horizontal growth. The fact that this strains parent is a haze, i knew that id overgrown these ladies for this tent. Resin and smell are starting to increase quite quickly. Around this time i started flushing the medium because i was concerned about runoff numbers. After countless hours of looking for info on how to treat Coco Loco, whether to treat like soil or coco, is still and unanswered question in my book. Ive found the best way to learn how the medium is best used is to just keep growing! Although the internet is a great source of info, nothing beats hands on growing of the sweet leaf!
