My first grow from Night Owl and I'm super pumped bc I've been wanting to drop some of their beans but life got in the way. Dropped 2 Pope Banner III seeds in soil today and hopefully in a few days we have sprouts.
Both seeds sprouted and are looking good. Plants already have their new sets of leafs coming in. The stem on one of my plants is really flimsy and droopy so I lowered the height on my light and turned up the intensity a little bit. Propped it up with a wooden poker stick hoping she strengthens up and stands back on her own soon.
Week 2 went pretty solid. I lowered my light and turned up the intensity a little bit that seemed to strengthen up my one stem and have the plant standing in its own now. Fed them a light dose of Recharge the other day. This week I'm going to start using RO water and CalMag for waterings, had some left over spring water I had been using.
Week 3 went great!! Lots of new veg growth and growth in height. Started using RO water w/CalMag this past week. Ordered some silica and going to start that this week along with AC Infinity self watering bases. Might have to start some LST soon so these don't get too out of control.
Another solid week of growth with these girls, they're really starting to get big. I bought a new tent on AC Infinity's 420 sale that came in the other day and finally got around to setting it up and moving everything over from my old tent. Also finally took out my old AC Infinity Gen 1 clip on fans out and put the new Gen 2 ones they sent as replacements. Seems like one plant is loving the new self watering bases and the other not so much. One is 2ft tall and drinking water like a champ and the other is 1 1/2ft tall and slowly sipping. I'm gonna give them a top dressing of Recharge tomorrow and see if that will get the one going. I see they both popped out some white hairs and are starting to flower. Really need to do some LST to them but I'm scared to snap branches and make them herm like my last grow, Guess I'll just need to be extra careful.
Another week gone by quick! Was another solid week of growth, both girls have fully transitioned to flower. After introducing the self watering bases to both plants the bigger one has loved it the little one not so much. Since the smaller one wasn't taking in water like the other I just decided to top feed it 3/4 gallon of water and put the other 1/4 in the self watering base to get some bottom feeding. Think I might have to abandon the bases all together and go back to saucers and top feeding as I'm running out of room and don't wanna burn the tops of my plants. I wanna see if there's a way to convert the bases to a system similar to the autopots, if not that will probably be my next investment. I've really got to get better at LST so my plants don't get too tall but I get nervous that I'm going to break branches and stress it out and have it herm like my last grow. Guess it's back to YouTube to learn some more.
This week unfortunately sucked bc I lost one of my plant to herm which was growing nice too. Last month I tried to put an LST clip on one of the branches and think I might have damamged it which caused too much stress and had it herm on me. Luckily I caught it early and it didn't effect my other plant. Since I only have the one plant going in a 4x4 I decided to experiment and hang one of my lights vertically to help with the undergrowth and that seems to working well. Hopefully this will give me nicer bottom buds and help them all finish around the same time. I rotate the plant everyday so that way more bottom bud sites are getting light.
Week 6 went great another solid week of growth. You can really see the buds starting to stack and get chunky. Last week I introduced some Girl Flower Power by Natures Living Soil and mixed it with the Recharge and it really seemed to like that. It's starting to get warm where I live so my tent the last week has been a few degrees higher than I would like but not too high where I need to do something about it. Although going into mid to late flower I will be putting an AC in my lung room window probably this week to get the temp and humidity down.
Another solid week of growth, buds still getting nice and dense! My one plant herming on me was kind of bitter sweet since I put my other light up vertically to get the bottom growth to grow in better. Maybe next grow I’ll look into those UV side bars. Hopefully I can get a nice yield off of this plant to last until my next harvest.
Buds are still getting bigger and denser and she's still drinking water like a champ. Thinking it might be another week or two tops and it will be finished. Trichomes are still a little clear and haven't seen any signs of amber yet.
Getting real close to the end of this grow, looking like maybe a few more days or so. Haven't been giving it anymore silica,CalMag or girl flower power just straight pH'd water. I will continue to monitor and check the trichomes daily. I should've cleaned up the dead fan leaves before I took pictures but I'll get to that later.
Been checking trichomes daily and they're not ready just yet. Still small signs of clear and little sign of any amber. Still drinking and getting a gallon of water every other day. As of today it's right in the middle of the breeders suggested harvest time. Thinking I might let it go the whole 85 days depending on how this week's goes. I'll know more tomorrow when it's time to check trichomes again and water if needed. This is my first grow that I'd actually be getting the full potential of the bud and I don't wanna mess it up.
06/18/2024 - Gave the plant its last watering before the chop. Gonna chop her down on 06/21. Everything is looking great just hoping for a near perfect dry and cure.
Overall was a great grow with awesome results. Trimming didn’t take me too long bc there really wasn’t much leaf around the buds other than the bigger sugar leafs. Will definitely be growing this again next time probably in living soil.
Curious about your experience with the ac infinity self watering bases, I just started using them for my current grow and I ran into issues due to over watering of all things. I had spoken with one of their reps who said he uses them in his grows so I followed his directions and ran into issues in short order but live and learn so I now know not to simply keep the bases full as the wicking action will suck up all the water up into the soil in less than 24hrs, I stupidly filled the bases with 1 gallon of water into each of them, then 3 days later refilled the bases with another gallon of water (without thinking to check how heavy the pots were .....) then another 3 days later when I was about to pour another gallon into each of the bases I checked the pots and realized they weighed over 20lbs and were saturated. I ended up not being able to water any of the plants for over 14 days as it took a hot minute for the plants to use what they wanted and for the fabric pots to dry out enough so that I could get them back on a regular schedule. Now I know for my next grow to start them out with 1/2 gallon at the most being poured into the bases and also to check how heavy the pots are before blindly adding more water into the bases. Thankfully this over-watering experience only seemed to have seriously effected one out of the five plants I've got growing atm, Had not expected this to happen as everyone told me it was impossible to over water the plants using these bases
@LostToFollowUp, I had one plant that loved it and one plant that hated it. One plant would drink a gallon every other day the other one took forever. I was told by a few people to every couple days or so rotate the pots so that way the wicks wouldn’t stick to the bottom of the pot, so I would always get a feel of how heavy they were. I started using them around day 23 and ditched them after a few weeks bc of the inconsistency between the two plants. Someone told me that Sativa Autoflowers were very picky with them which is probably what happened with me. Definitely willing to give them another shot just maybe implement them further down the road closer to flower.
