Let's give this another go, I've started and deleted multiple diaries for this strain, as I've had a hell of a time getting healthy plants. So I have a few seeds left and will document each one if there are failures, or just this one if it works out, I'm having issues I haven't had with any other strain, and being that I also partake...I need to document it. I will note that these seeds are about 1/2 the size of all the other seeds in my inventory from various breeders, though I have no idea if that matters. The plant that I did get to harvest smelled incredible and was very frosty. It did not turn purple though. So, in my quest for purple bud, I push on. The setup for this grow... 3x3 tent - but may get moved to a 4x4 later 2 - Viparspectra PAR450 (200W actual ea)- if it gets moved, it will be under 600W HPS 3 gallon nursery pot Promix HP GH Flora Series 10/28 - Seed placed in moist Rapid Rooter. 10/31 - Day 1 we have a sprout, she looks jaundiced though. 11/2 - Day 3, she was dry so I gave her some water pH to 5.8 11/5 - Day 6, dry again, gave her approx 1 1/2 cups of water with 2.5 ml/gal calimagic pH set to 5.8 11/6 - Day 7, moved her to auto tent under HPS.

11/30 - Day 31, she is stretching, and has almost doubled in size in the last week. She will fed according to Transition week on GH DTW schedule at her next feeding. 12/2 - Day 33, fed at 740 ppm, and pH set to 5.8 12/4 - Day 35, stretching like mad, 6 inches since her last measurement. Baby bud sites are forming, but growth nutes will continue until her vertical growth stops.

12/6 - Day 37, she is still stretching and is up to 22 inches now, Baby bud sites are developing, and I will probably give her one more transition feed before switching to bloom nutes. 12/7 - Day 38, fed transition feed again at 715 ppm and pH set to 5.8. She has grown another 1.5 inches since the other day. Final runoff numbers are 1020 ppm and pH was 6.2.

12/12 - Day 43, fed her at 750 ppm and pH set to 5.8, mixed according to early bloom 2 of GH DTW schedule, base nutes used at full strength. She has stretched another 3.5 inches to a height of 27 inches. Her 1st node side branches are the same height now as the main. She is already putting on trichomes and that beautiful smell has begun. Final runoff numbers were 920 ppm and pH was 5.9. 12/16 - Day 47, fed at 860 ppm with pH set to 5.8, mixed according to mid bloom wk 1 of GH DTW schedule to carry her into wk 8. Her height is now 28 inches. She is laying on the frost heavy early on, from sugar leaves to fan leaves and even the stalks, if you can zoom in on the last couple of pictures. Final runoff numbers are 1140 ppm and pH was 5.8.

12/20 - Day 51, she has an issue that is progressing from the bottom of the plant up affecting older leaves first, which is leading me to think mobile nutrient deficiency. Her upper leaves are also standing so upright that they are blocking light to the budsites. 12/21 - Day 52 fed her at 880 ppm and pH set to 5.8 according to mid bloom2 of GH DTW schedule. Calimagic was bumped to 4 ml/gal to help with the cal/mag deficiencies. Final runoff number were 1040 ppm and pH was 5.9.

As you already know the mobile nutrients in plants are able to be pulled from lower/older growth to be given to the Fresh top growth as a survival mechanism. Identifying that you problem started at the bottom is a huge help! I was also very smart of you to leave some fan leaves at the bottom when you lollipopped to leave 'detection leafs'. The primary mobile nutrients are: Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium. Magnesium is the only secondary nutrient that is mobile . In Micronutrients Chlorine, Molybdenum, and Nickel are mobile. These are the 7 Mobile nutrients in cannabis and one of them is responsible for your plant! --- After eliminating all the choices that do not cause Chlorosis(yellowing) in the leaves and the micro nutrients that comes in most tap water. That leaves us with Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium, and magnesium to explain The lower leaf Chlorosis. Phosphorous and Potassium deficiencies comes with signs of Necrosis(death) on the leaf edges so we can eliminate those. This leaves us with Nitrogen and magnesium both of these explain the lower growth leaves that are fading however Nitrogen is very abundant in GH Flora micro and you are feeding plenty of it. Magnesium also causes the Chlorosis to bleed from the leaf tip edges exactly like you are seeing that Is why I am confident in saying Magnesium is the source of your MOBILE deficiency. --------------- Now about that immobile deficiency you have there! If yo look at those leafs showing Chlorosis AND Necrosis Dots all over this is from a textbook Calcium deficiency! Its an immobile nutrient show its showing symptoms directly on the growing leaves that need Calcium. This one always looks mobile because it doesn't effect the new-growth leave. The solution is to give more CaliMagic as it contains both of these deficient nutrients! You are in the normal .5-1tsp per gallon range so you can safely go up to 1tsp of calimagic per gallon! Hope this helps man! 😎

12/26 - Day 57, playing Christmas Catch-up on all my diaries, She is not responding to the increase in calmag, and her issue is continuing. she will be leached with several gallons of a full strength solution at her next feeding to try to regain proper balance of nutrients for the current stage of growth. 12/30 - Day 61, fed with mid bloom nutes according to GH DTW schedule at 1050 ppm and pH adjusted to 6.0

1/3 - Day 65, she is going to get flushed and chopped early to make space for healthier plants. This will be the last run of this for awhile or possibly for good. Very finicky plants, and only 1 purple pheno out a 7 pack. All the seeds were very small too, much smaller than any of my other seeds ( genetic trait?). The flowers they do produce are always very frosty, but also small, I'm sure due to the state of the plant. 1/8 - Day 70, snipped her to make room in the HPS tent. Harvest report will be up in a week or so.

The taste and effects are pretty good, but I cant give it a great rating. It's just a finicky girl. I rate it 5 because the effects are ok, but she's a pain in the ass to grow.

This plant took off great and quickly went down the tubes. 1 out a 7 pack turned purple, the yield was terrible on every plant from the pack. I will not likely run this again. She is not forgiving of mistakes in any way, she will show you her ugly side very quickly if not happy.

It’s got to be the hardest part for me, In terms of mentally straining worrying about seedlings and small plants. Once they get big I could snap a branch off by accused and forget about it a day later. With seedlings I’m always on edge. They literally are like babies. Just smell better 👍🏼

@PharmaZ, bahahahahaha...agreed, and some of the genetics ive grown so far can be real diva's.
HighTV
HighTVcommentedweek 86 years ago
@fingers Its pretty evident that you lack these 2 specific nutrients and PH isn't blocking anything else so fluctuations don't explain this at all. If you were experiencing a PH problems you would see more deficiencies than just these 2 like the other Primary nutrients that require the same PH values as Calcium/Magnesium. Not to mention a lack of necrosis appearing on the lower growth from PH fluctuation eliminates that idea. Simply put: PH fluctuations don't deny 2 nutrients - they deny a wide range so that isn't your issue!

One of the tricks is to keep the medium moist, but not saturated. I usually keep them in rockwool under a small cfl, and in a seeding tray, until they pop out and grow to 2 inches or so and have multiple roots coming out the bottom before I put them into their next home (either a solo cup sized cup or into basin). Its a lot easier to control the watering/humidity that way. Right, so she looks like overwatering or possibly too hot of a soil, but I'm a newb so take that for what it's worth. It just looks like the area around her is completely soaked. Hope she pulls through for you, good luck!
Fingers
Fingerscommented6 years ago
@BeefWellingtons, i use a pump sprayer to water so the medium looks wet all over but its not very deep. she got maybe half a solo cup of water applied with a sprayer around her, so hopefully not too soaked, and the medium should be relatively inert as its just peat moss, perlite, myco and some lime for pH buffering. she does look a little greener today..lol

@Sweet_Seeds, yes, this strain seems to be very heavy cal mag feeders. 5ml/gal seems to be about the minimum.
Sweet_Seeds
Sweet_Seedscommented6 years ago
@@Fingers, ok thanks, in that case, I think she needs a higher EC or more CAL MAG.
Fingers
Fingerscommented6 years ago
@Sweet_Seeds, promix hp is a non fertilized soilless medium. The bloom nutes that were used are part of the GH 3 part, that are used throughout the cycle. you can see bloom increased once flowering began.

@MaryJaneUSA, yup her next feed is mixed to 575 ppm, I would rather underfeed than overfeed, so if next week, she still needs more ill bump it higher. The other upside is i have 2 more of these that just broke ground that I can apply what I learned on this one.

@@Fingers, I see... You are using GH nutes; I’ve not used them so I couldn’t really give you advice there.. I’m sorry about that. I use AN and For me, by week 4 I raise my ppm up to 600-800 and then it’s smoothe sailing from there. I keep my ppm for seedlings at around 300 around first 2 weeks. I used to raise my ppm up to 1100 for photoperiod flowers by week 4 but realized by week 4 of flowering, I’m having to bring the nutes down because I ended up getting slight to moderate nute burn.

The flowering of your plants looks to be progressing very well. There not much better than watching the flowering nodes begin to take shape and form beautiful buds. I'm eager to see how your grow finishes up and I wish you all the best in the rest of growing these girls. Cheers :D

@SensiSmellYahLater, thanks for the kind words! There is 2 more of these about 3-4 weeks behind this one, one looks to be a similar pheno, and the other a little different. And I couldnt agree more about watching your buds finally start to grow, save for maybe partaking once they finish!
