So i had the itch to pop some autos and i want to get two outdoor harvests in this season. Its a bit early, but because i have no drying space other than my tent i kinda need to align harvest with my photos.
I had some soil left from repotting my photos and some beans i want to try. Not enough soil to plant them in their final home, but enough for setting up some startercups. So i did and we'll see how it goes.
I'm gonna take them inside the tent for their first weeks. I should be able to squeeze them in there and as soon as i plant them in their real pots, they'll stay outside. We'll see 🌱🌞🍀
Week 1/Day 1: All three have germinated. The are still chilling in the tent and are gonna stay there as long as i don't need to repot. The weather looks bad for the next two weeks and way to cold to put them outside.
I plan to switch my photos to flower this weekend, so not the best timing for bad weather. I think if its the worst case, i'll repot them in a 1 or 2l pot and let them stay in the flowertent and hope they'll get by.
Forecast says we'll get nighttemps of 2-3° the next week, so no chance i'll throw them out freezing to death. I'd rather loose a bit of growth. We'll see 🌱🌞🍀
Week 2/ Day 8: The weather still sucks. Temps are low as fuck and there is no way to put these young gals outside. So i repotted them to a 1 liter pot and they stay inside another week.
Week 3, Day 16: Soooo weather is still not perfect, but we got two sunny days with temps over 20° ahead (and some rainy days after that) but there are some reasons why i think i needed to place them in their final containers. The main two reasons being that i have a little hope that they'll grab some fresh soil for bigger roots if i repot them this week and the second being that i run out of space inside the tent.
So they'd not only have 12 hours of light, they would be in constant shade because of the other plants in the tent. Aaand because the temps are on the rise, maybe now is the best time to give it a try with putting them outside during the day.
Everything setup and timing wise was not optimal, so we take what we get. :) Otherwise they still look very happy. And thats the most important part. 🌱🌞🍀
The poor plants had their first week "outdoor"! They had one wonderful day outside and after that it went downhill fast. They were doomed sitting on the inside and go with the little light they get in my kitchen, because it was raining all week.
But there is hope, by the end of the week it looks like sun is back on the menu! But yeah, thats why all of the girls got pretty long legs, but beside that they look fine. So thats good! 🌱🌞🍀
Week 5 on this low effort outdoor run. We had a very sunny weekend and the plants absolutely loved it. They took in every ray of sunlight they could, but his week is gonna be all rain, so they are pretty much stuck inside again.
But despite the shitty environmental conditions and light starvation, they look fine and happy overall. Still chasing the summer! 🌱🌞🍀
Well here we are at week 6!
And the plants are trucking along just fine. They were not able to develop much foliage and branches due to the lack of sun, the repotting and general cold and bad weather but they seem healthy and do their thing.
I still have to take them in at night and some days the temps are even too low to have them outside. But all things considered, they are doing great. They started to smell a bit during the last week and thats really nice.
The upcoming week *surprise surprise* is gonna be all rain again! So the first part of the outdoor seasons really sucks in terms of weather. But we got some really robust plants here that seem to care less than i do. 😁 Happy growing! May the weather be with you! 🌱🌞🍀
Here we are at week 7 and welcome to the summer waiting room! This run has transitioned to a windowsill-grow, because sun really is a rare sight in the last weeks.
I still have to take them in at night, because the temps drop too low to let them stay outside. And because it is raining on most of the days i have to keep them also inside during the daytime.
BUT despite this run seems cursed in terms of the weather, the plants are just doing their thing and they start to do some budding. And especially the radical juice auto is starting to smell absolutely delicious! I'm really wondering how much they'll yield in the end.
Week 8 from seed for the grounded teenagers club. They had to be inside all week because of bad weather. So they could not make much progress at all. I renamed the grow title because it would not be fair to call it an outdoor run. 😂😂
But hey, they seem healthy and still have a way to go. So we still find out what they have to offer when they're done. Its heartbreaking that there is no summer in sight, but its a good experiment at the very least. And i'm still hoping for some sunny days to nurture them. We'll see 😊
Here we are at week 10 from seed on my windowsill-"outdoor"-run. This week was better than last week. They had two days outside and they enjoyed the heck out of it.
They still look lush and healthy. Its really impressive how much more they drink as soon as they got some sun. But for the next week it looks like all rain again. *sigh*
The girls are doing great despite the bad environment and the lack of sun. Under these circumstances the Auto Critical Orange Punch is doing exceptionally well and got pretty fat up to now. It seems like she's maturing a bit slower than the other two, but its perfect in thia situation. With adequate lighting (and not repotting two times) i'm convinced she'd be monstrous now!
The gorilla girl is pulling up second. She has fattened up quite a bit and is looking pretty loaded. The Radical Juice Auto is rather disappointing in comparison to her sisters. But i guess its still fine for the subpar conditions.
So overall i'm very happy with this run, but i'd love to have a sunny week to really get the sugarproduction going for these ladies. But we take what we get and i'm really looking forward to get a taste of these strains. 🌱🌞🍀
Week 10 for these three girls and the harvest window is opening! We got lucky and they had some sunny days and stayed outside. So they got some sunrays in the bag for this week!
Trichs are looking good on the upper parts of the plants, the lower branches need a few days more. The radical juice auto would be perfect for harvesting now, the gorilla girl is almost ready and the critical orange punch needs a few days more.
Thats perfect, because of the budrot incident in the indoor tent, i need to wait until the indoor plants are dry. Then i got to do a full cleaning before i can hang these ladies to dry.
So i think next weekend is chopping time! I'm very happy with this run considering the miserable circumstances and i can't wait for the tasting. Happy times! 🌱🌞🍀😁
Because the indoor plants dried faster than expected these plants got chopped down today. Timing for Radical Juice and Gorilla Girl was pretty much on point, the Critical Orange Punch could and maybe should have gone a few days longer.
But it should be raining for the next week anyway, and because of that i don't want to waste time and plan to fill the tent for a new run at the end of next week if all goes well. I hope we got some better weather for the next outdoor run. So far i am delighted with the results of this outdoor/windowsill run.
I'm very curious how much they'll yield. I don't expect much, but i hope for 25-30g. We'll see 😊🌱🌞🍀
Well the scale has spoken: 15g of okayish buds. The smell is great and i'm looking forward to taste them. I'm still very happy with the result. For sure it was worth it to get an idea of the strain. I'd love to grow her again in better conditions. 🌱🌞🍀
So here we got the smallest yielder of the pack. Not even 10g of very airy popcorny buds. They smell good and i think i'll have a good time smoking it. We'll see 😁🌱🌞🍀
The most leavy plant of the bunch. Looked like it wpuld yield the most out of the three but she was mainly popcorn buds. The main cola was okay in structure. I chopped her too early, results would have been better if i waited.
But for the circumstances, i think she did great. I like the smell, not very special up to this point. I'll see when i smoke her if i'd grow it again. 😊 But a very nice performance under these conditions. A hardy plant!
