- One Seed Papaya Cookies Auto from Fast Buds
- Started in a Jiffy, which I moved to a mini greenhouse
- After three days I moved the Jiffy into the final 9l, filled with the bottom 2/3 Plagron Royalmix and top 1/3 CANNA Terra Seed Mix
- Temperature 22-23 Celsuis
- Humidity ~70%
- PPFD 280
One week after putting the seed into the Jiffy.
I am using a 9L pot, filled with the bottom 2/3 with Plagron Royalmix and the top 1/3 with Canna Terra Seedmix.
So far it is planned to top the plant pretty early (if it looks healthy) and do a bit of LST.
The pot will be watered from the top with 3L per pouring, everytime it is dry. As Nutrients I will use the Plagron lineup, with an adjusted grow schedule: power roots, alga bloom, sugar royal, green sensation).
UPDATE:
I made a little update to the tent. Highered the LED to 100 cm and turned it from 25% to 75%. Helps with the temperatur.
Day 11 to Day 17. I am trying to do a daily pic update.
Temperature and humidity is stable, but I can't get the temperature higher than 22°C. So far the Papaya doesn't seem to mind and is growing beautifuly.
This week will decide how I am going to proceed with her. If she looks healty around day 14-16, I might do an early topping.
Update: She looked fine, so I topped her.
Update Day 17: After topping, the Papaya is growing just fine. Spotted a couple of yellow spots on the tips of the leaves. Might be the stress from toppiong and watering.
From Day 18 to Day 24. I aim to provide regular updates throughout the week.
Following last week's topping, I plan to implement Low Stress Training (LST) this week.
On the first day of this week, the plant appears unaffected by the previous topping and continues to grow steadily. However, there are slight signs of nutrient burn on the tips of the older leaves.
Day 19: The plant remains healthy and vigorous. I conducted LST to maintain even growth and maximize space within the tent.
Day 22: She is growing just fine. Did some pruning and LST.
Week 5: Day 32 to 38.
As I was sick most of last week, I couldn't stick to my training plan.
As flowering already started I will simply let her grow for a bit.
Week 6 / Flower week 2: Day 39 to 45.
Flower week 2, total disaster: This morning, unfortunately, I noticed that the main stem of the papaya has split. I probably overdid the LST and at the same time let the plant become too dry. Immediate actions taken include fixing the main stem with plant wire, flipping the LST pegs and now using them to support and relieve the arms, and inserting a SCROG net to further support the arms.
I really hope that will help, as otherwise the Papaya looks really awesome.
Additionally I added some Vitamin C (Ascorbid acid) to lower the ph value.
Week 7 / Flower Week 3: Day 46 to 52
Seems like the topping, training and stem split took their toll. She is staying somewhat flat. But the flowering looks beautiful and is building some very nice buds.
Stopped giving here the Plagron Sugar Royal and started with Plagron Green Sensation. That should give her a bit less N for the final flowering time.
Week 8 / Flower Week 4: Day 53 to 59
Vacation time! i left last week Friday until Saturday this week. Watering was done by a Rainpoint Wifi pump and a DIY drip ring. I programmed it to irrigate 3L on Tuesday and Friday. It worked like a charm. Didn't use any fertilizer to not clog the system.
On saturday I did open the tent for the first time after nine days and was pretty nervous. But the Papaya did pretty well (see pictures attached). The plant has little yellow spots on the tip of the leaves, but otherwise it looks really nice.
Week 9 / Flower Week 5: Day 60 to 66
Day 64:
The buds on Papaya are developing beautifully, showing significant increase in volume. Despite this growth, the trichomes still appear mostly clear, indicating that harvest time is not quite yet.
At this stage, I’ve switched to watering only, with the addition of a small amount of Plagron Green Sensation. This should provide the necessary nutrients to support the final stages of bud development.
Week 10 / Flower Week 6: Day 67 to 73
In the past few weeks, I have made a few changes:
-Lowered the day/night temperature from 24.5/23 to 22/19 degrees Celsius
-Instead of using Plagron Alga Bloom, I now only use Plagron Green Sensation. Green Sensation does not contain nitrogen, so eventually, the nitrogen should run out.
-I am gradually removing all the fan leaves.
Background:
-Temperature: According to various studies, higher temperatures may increase growth but at the cost of terpenes. ~22 degrees Celsius seems to be the sweet spot for preserving most terpenes while maintaining growth.
-Nitrogen deficiency/defoliation: Terpenes/THC are partially byproducts of the cannabis plant's defense mechanism. Targeted stress can promote this.
Day 67: I am quite happy with the bud formation. In my opinion, the terpenes still look quite clear, so I will wait a bit longer before harvesting.
Week 12 / Flower Week 8: Day 81 to 84 / HARVEST
Finally it is time for the harvest. Trichomes look spledid, with ~10% amber. I did a little trimming to remove some of the yellow and easy to reach leaves. I will do a final trim after drying.
