Went into glass of water on April 11th ... into the soil on April 13th ... and sprouted on April 15th. That's a nice quick pace so far ... serrated leaves already visible. Leaving her in a humidity dome for another day or two - just to see if it has any effect on the rate of growth (tent stays at around 50% RH, so a dome will keep this sprout nice and steamy).
Not much to say at this point ... the game is afoot! I'm hopeful ... this strain has some "cookies" in it ... she germinated and sprouted quickly, so I'm optimistic - for now.
It's been all good so far ... she popped, she's growing ... color looks good ... size/height look on par ... might even be a bit faster than average. I think she'll be ready to top around day ~15. The other two Mephisto plants I have going right now took really well to topping, so I hope this girl does as well.
Holy Hanna! Came back from vacation to an absolute monster .... this would have been a pretty busy week with LST during that "stretch" phase (preflower) ... but I wasn't there to do it, and she flourished! Maybe I'll try a bit less LST on my next girl as well - just to compare.
I had to lower the table she was on - getting too close to the light ... and then she shot up another few inches almost overnight - crazy growth. I just harvested my first Mephisto strain - 4-ass Monkey - which is by far the chunkiest/fullest plant I've grown ... but putting it next to Ghost Toof - wow ... Ghost Toof is ridiculous! Can't wait to see these buds fill in!
Update 2024-06-01 ... Had to edit the diary, because I'd added an extra week incorrectly ... I was looking at my actual grow calendar (by my tent) and realized this girl was only 6 weeks old as of a few days ago.
I had to remove one of my other plants early due to finding seeds ... I've found ONE seed on this girl ... only one. I'm checking every day and I haven't seen any more forming - and no nanners on this girl that I can see anywhere.
Oh noooo .... this was a shitty week. It started with one of my other plants turning hermie (partially). I panicked and removed that plant immediately and started looking this girl over as thoroughly as I could ... found ONE seed. Have not found any seeds since (over a week) ... and I do not see any hermies.
However .... with one plant removed early - this girl had more room to stretch out ... I thought, SWEET - I can just pull some of these branches out a bit to expose every beautiful node on this girl.
Then ... SNAP .... as I was tying it down - I snapped a branch. One of the big ass lower branches :(
I immediately started triage ... normally I just grab some of my soft plant ties and connect that branch back to the main branch - tie it off and let it heal ... but ... since this girl is so huge - the branch was over 3 feet long - and already getting a bit top-heavy. I could not keep the branch straight while trying to tie it back on. It kept twisting every time I tried to tie it.
I was getting a bit frustrated ... and because of that, I was being too hasty and what would you guess happens next???!!! ....... I BROKE ANOTHER BRANCH. This time, it came CLEAN OFF. And, again ... it was another 3 foot long, top-heavy branch.
So, I stopped my efforts to save the first branch - chalk them both up as loses and just step away from the plant before I do more harm.
I would bet money I lost about 2 ounces of potential harvest weight. She's still huge - and is still going to give me a huge yield ... but I'm so pissed at myself. A very valuable lesson learnt!
Week 10 ... switched over to Advanced Nutes (ph Perfect sensi) for the remainder of the grow. I decided to run one of my other plants using Advanced - when I was getting low on my FFOF Trio nutes ... those were almost gone this week, so I switched this plant over as well.
Had some foxtailing on the top-most buds ... mainly due to glitchy lights that don't stay at the 70% setting I put them at. Lowered the plants another 1/2 foot ... distance to light was around 12" ... now it's around 18".
Buds are starting to get decently frosty ... not as much as some of the plants I've grown, but this girl still has a couple weeks left.
I don't think she's going to pack on a lot more weight at this point .. starting to lean as the branches get heavier. I was hoping to see a little extra sugar coating in the last couple weeks, I guess it's as good as it's going to get. Trikes look like they're about ready ... I'll probably harvest in about a week or so.
