Not sure if this is a normal reduction in weight during drying? The flavour is very mild and fruity, sweet and earthy. We vaped not smoked... and it was AMAZING fun. This is my new favourite variety. I shared a bunch with friends and family and the feedback has been "spectacular." Our friends say it's perfect.

Does she look ready for harvest??? I don't want total couchlock, but I also don't want headaches.

Looks fine but not ready yet. Do you have a magnifier ? If so then the effect you want is the effect of a 100% cloudy trichomes ratio. If you don't have a magnifier you will not have the desired effect or only with a bit of luck or if you are growing a clone and know exactly when to cut to get the desired effect. So magnifier + trichomes check + 90% cloudy = ready to harvest for a perfect effect

I'm reading this: https://www.growweedeasy.com/harvest "Want more of an ‘in-your-head’ effect? Harvest your buds earlier, when only 40% of hairs have darkened and curled in and more than half of the trichomes are part clear/ part milky or mostly cloudy/milky. For the “strongest” marijuana buds with the most psychoactive effects, and the highest levels of THC, harvest when almost all trichomes are cloudy/milky. For more relaxing, anti-anxiety buds, wait until at least some of the milky / cloudy trichomes have darkened to amber. More amber = more relaxing, though the effects may be somewhat less psychoactive. Remember, curing your buds properly for at least 2 weeks to a month will also give them more of an anti-anxiety effect." I want to get as close to option #2 as possible :)

So, she's still a tiny bit spindly but those colas are heavy and fat.

@Njanne wrote; “... it’s drying and curing at the moment. I will try a small toke in my vape this week...” Vaping doesn’t requiring a cure like smoking does. I pop fresh flowers in the vape wand. It’s delish! Like a tomato straight off the vine! Your flowers look grown by an all pro! But they do not look anywhere near ready to harvest to me. I would say two weeks at least and likely more. Don’t be impatient now that you’ve invested all this work. Trichome maturation is a personal decision, very much like an ice cream flavor. And can be strain dependent, so a specific percentage amber may or may not be a correct indicator. Until you know your tastes and strain proclivities, you’re guessing a little. I never had headaches from immature weed, but some immature hits me full in the face, and I have a reaction similar to when there’s MSG in Chinese food - unpleasant but short lived. You need a loupe or better yet a digital microscope. At $40 they constitute little of our growing budget, and deliver a lot of science we can use. I like about 50% amber trichs. I used to prefer a more ‘uppy’ stone. Now I like to be truly stoned. Great job. Enjoy your harvest!

@growdoctordc, can you recommend a good digital microscope... maybe send an amazon link? I have a cheap one but it doesn't work very well.

I paid $40 for a lesser model that is now $70, so the $76 one below looks good to me. The stand being stable and the ability to focus without it moving around is the key to a good one. I made mine work but it’s not ideal. You have to remove a bit of veg matter. Don’t expect to take pics off the living plant. I hook it up to a laptop and shoot stills and video. Extremely handy for looking at trichs and many more things! https://www.amazon.com/Celestron-Handheld-Digital-Microscope-Pro/dp/B00CMJ1I08/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1GZNT7YGLHONF&keywords=celestron+digital+microscope&qid=1551044656&s=gateway&sprefix=celestron+digital+&sr=8-3

Option #2 is the way to go. I try to harvest at 30% amber. Seems to be the right time. Any longer than that you’ll be stuck to the couch.

@ArcticGrowGuy, based on the photos, would you say she looks ready?

@ArcticGrowGuy, good to know! I harvested my Super Silver Haze a bit too early last time and that shit gives me a headache and keeps me up all night long LOL...

Looking good. When is it expected to finish ? - I have a PK growing right now- it’s in its 3ish week of flower. I’m hoping to finish March 1st

Njanne
@ArcticGrowGuy, I think I'll need around 9 - 10 weeks of flowering... at the very least. I want nice fat buds and I'm willing to wait for them :)

dense is good , less shrinkage on the dry too. very slow dry with no trim or chopping until smokable dry , can also help reduce shrinkage too. Killer to see our hard work and that huge ,sweet smelling, crispy sugared bud , become a shrivelled nug that would soon become ash. lol gutting. I think this fact of growing and drying alone can give a new respect for how much goes into producing what we do now. how many times i have moaned about someones weed not being bone dry when i am buying in. lol

This was one of the first strains I ever tried growing... and since then I have grown quite a few. Crop King Purple Kush remains my very favourite. It starts off with a super fun euphoric buzz and mellows out to a relaxing body buzz. It's perfect for the evening, before bed :)

I harvested her... and it's like a fucking dream. Purple Kush is my new favourite. I have a few more seeds and I am starting them this weekend. I can never run out of it or I will be a sad person.

Njanneweek 11
Yup, she is filling out now. Could end up being a fat yield. Need to feed these buds.

That's some crazy stretch! Hope she fills out :)

I'm starting to wonder if Crop King Seeds tend to be spindly. Even with intense LED (900W) flowering lights she is not dense. Compared with the Sun West Genetics plant (GSC), and all else being equal across the plants, the Purple Kush seems like a sparse, spindly plant.
