had a bunch of problems with the rockwool I purchased. I discovered that water could not penetrate the center of the rockwool.
Plants are a little stunted and behind schedule.
The plants were topped at the beginning of the week and are responing quickly. With the tight internodes it makes for a bushy plant
Res temps are holding under 70 and the roots are growing like mad
Last week of veg.
I accidentally damaged the plant in the front right. I was leaning over it to check the ph in the rez behind and managed to split the stem about 3cm from where it was topped. I used a twist tie to hold it together. It has healed nicely, but it’s quite a bit shorter than the others.
This week was half veg, half flower. They’re growing about an inch a day now and consuming a lot of nutrients. I think the smallest of the four is just a runt. It’s super healthy and has a big root mass. The nodes are still really tight and it’s showing little signs of stretching. It also formed a small hole where the stem was split. It doesn’t seem to be causing any bother.
Getting some stretch this week and I'm starting to see the beginning flowers. The two plants in the front are now significantly shorter than the two in front. They seem to be growing at the same rate as they were in veg while the other two are growing up to an inch per day. The shorter two are growing, but space between each node is very tight compared to the ones growing normally.
Lots of stretching this in two of the plants this week. Two of the plants are about 8 inches shorter than the largest one.
The root mass is getting huge in all four plants. It's difficult to hold the plant up and and take a pic so no photo of the roots. I'm starting to notice a faint smell when the tents open. I've started adding 2ml of liquid koolbloom per gallon this week.
I had friend by this weekend and we did a pretty massive pruning. You can see the difference in the first two photos. It was starting to get a bit overgrown and out of control.
So one plant has really outpaced the others this week.
I’m seeing lots of new bud sites on all plants. There’s a very faint smell, it’s not nearly as strong as I was expecting.
Things are moving along nicely this week.
Canopy is a little dense and it's a constant battle to keep good airflow going. The odor is definitely noticeable now when the tent is open. Res temperature is getting a little low with this cold snap. It was 59 degrees this morning.
Things are starting to get frosty in here. 😃
The smell is also starting to get really strong when the tent is open, stinks the whole basement out.
They are consuming about a half gallon of water now but have significantly slowed their nutrient consumption.
Plants are really starting to put out some stink now... not a pleasant smell as I expected. The hairs are starting to turn brown on top a lot sooner than I expected. The hairs underneath the canopy are not turning brown yet. Everything seems happy and healthy so I'm not going to worry about it.
I think I'm getting close to being done... maybe a couple weeks left. Plants have been bulking up nicely this week and the smell is getting really strong when the tent is open.
the largest of the four plants is almost done. I'm starting to see some cloudy trichomes now. The other three still have lots of white hairs and no cloudy trichs.
I'm going to do one more reservoir change this weekend then let them go for the remainder.
This strain was super easy for a beginner.
I was slightly disappointed by the massive variances in plant size.
It made for keeping an even canopy difficult.
Final numbers are in and I’m really happy with the grow. The smallest plant went hermi and was taken down six days before the others. Taste wasn’t very good so it wasn’t mixed in with the others. I’ll use the 71 grams from that plant to make edibles. 0
@LaughingGrass, very neat set up, i've not gone DWC myself yet ever, was looking at a british company called urban dwc https://urbandeepwaterculture.co.uk for that recirculation, but i'm still hesitating between these and a soil + autopots grow... night and day i know lol
@CRiSPrGrow, Thank you. I did a lot of research prior to starting this grow and picked a strain that would be good for a newbie like myself. For a first grow I'm really happy how smoothly this has gone so far. Knock wood! Next grow I would like to go recirculating just to make reservoir changes a little easier to manage.
Thanks @GreenHouseLab! I did try it. To be honest it wasn't great. Very green tasting but it got me high. I'm hoping it tastes better after being in the jar for a month.
looking tip tip top 👌 sorry about the split stem, had the same as you, next time duct tape it, it still works holding it together with the ties, but it doesnt work well over time as air gets in there and leads to sub optimal outcomes. split stems make stronger weed... have you thought of intentially doing it after the flower stretch ? you'll see a pretty huge difference something like 20% stronger weed...
@CRiSPrGrow, I’ve thought about supercropping, but I think I want to keep it as simple as possible for my first time around. I may try more advanced techniques in 5he future
