02.06. No water today, probably tomorrow in the morning with nutrients start of the week: - height: 51cm max (3cm/day for the last days) - plant 1: buds fattening; bit pale on top, probably needs some nutrients. (I'll get some Epsom salt as my water doesnt contain too much magnesium) - plant 2: starting to flower - plant 3 not quite in flower, but catching up I think that the second ventilator was a good idea. Humidity stays high 60%+, still very moderate temperatures, around 25°C in the box I will reduce the light cycle to 18/6 for a test and probably increase the light to 80% (212W) later this week xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 03.06. I did mix 9L of light nutrient solution PH 6.8 and did add 12g of Epsom salt to add a bit of magnesium However, the epsom did push the EC to 1.22 and I was too scared and unsure about the right amount of Epsom salt, so I only did apply half of the solution (1L per plant) and then did add 1L of tap water PH:6.2 - will see how the plant react and then there will be the other half in the next watering or another light nutrients without the Epsom The longer night time looks good. When the lighhts went on the plants already did look pretty good. Usually they were quite a bit droopy and had to wake up first plant 2 is stretching a lot. She easily did outgrow plant 1 in height: 53cm atm. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 04.06. No water today plant 2 is still growing, plant 1 more or less stopped xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 05.06 Did mix another nutrient solution without the epsom salt and fed 2L to plant 1+2 without drain in the morning PH: 6.6 EC: 0.68 Coming back from work plant 3 was very thirsty and I gave her 2L of that solution with a few ml of drain... probably have to water her together with the other two now. Plant 1 had a few sick leaves. Brown spots, leaves felt like dry paper. One leaf somehow had a single finger completely dry and crisp. Mostly old leaves at the bottom/sticking to the wall were affected, so I am not overly concerned and just did remove those leaves. The tops of plant 1+2 still are very light greenish. Not sure whether it is because of the fast growth or whether something is missing/off. Lets see how they react to the nutrients and I also did order some real cal/mag... dont trust that epsom salt stuff, mainly because it also contains quite a bit of sulphur and I am very unsure about the dosage as it does push EC a lot... I also finally did increase the light to 80% (212W). This will be the final power. According to the SANLight data sheets more would only make sense with CO2 supplement on 80x80... xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 06.06. no water today the two sick leaves at plant 2 got worse, i did remove them, Made a picture of them together with the leaves that I did remove yesterday besides that, plants did not get worse at least. Buds of plant 1 get thicker, maybe even a hint of trichomes, but not sure about that. plant 2 "only" grew 2cm today, still not a lot of bud development plant 3 had some bud development, maybe trying to catch up to plant 2? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 07.06. I gave 3L of nutrient solution to plant 1+2 and 2L to plant 3. PH:6.3 runoff plant 1: 250ml EC: 1.26 PH: 5.7 runoff plant 2: 200ml EC 1.16 PH: 5.7 - I think my soil PH is too low. I will water with higher PH next time(s) - EC doesnt look too bad I guess? plant 2 does show magnesium deficiency. For short term treatment I will use a epsom salt foliar spray trying to avoid bud sites in the next dark cycle. But in general I guess I have to fix my PH plant 1 did start with trichome production. At least one good development. welkl besides the fact that I did not get new sick/dieing leaves besides the yellowing xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 08.06. No water today I did mix 0.5L tapwater with 1tsp epsom salt and did use it as a foliar spray at beginning of the dark cycle. Only did spray a little at a few leaves. Not sure whether it had an effect considering how little of the 0.5L I used, but it did leave some residue on the leaves after drying, No fan of epsom salt as foliar spray. Luckily my CalMag did arrive today. next watering probably will be just tap water with calMag and high PH. At least not more signs of deficiencies. I also did rearrange the fans a bit to add some variation in the airflow and to match the growth week closure: some problems with plant 1+2... still didnt really figured out what the problem is. Current assumption: soil a bit too acidic and mag deficiency plant 1 slowly develops her buds and also started to produce trichomes. plant 2 did grow 20cm this week! If she keeps growing I'll get a height problem too... However, her bud sites start to swell a bit, so I hope she is done stretching soon. plant 3 was a weak mutant in the beginning, but now she is my best looking plant - even though she is still lacking behind a bit overall not a very good week. The crazy growth of plant 2 made my canopy uneven and I worry about the yellowing of plant 1 and 2.

Grow Questions

Hi, first grow here. My automatics are at their 16th day above ground. I think I have to top one of my plants to keep her height in check. Where and when should I top her? should I rather only do LST or maybe even wait for now (but they are automatics, so I should be quick?)?

With Autoflowers you want to avoide as much stress to the plant as possible because you are on a set time of growth before its flower. Topping is considered stressful to the plant. However, some people do this and have good success. Personally I always LST my Autoflowers and they turn out amazing. If I were you, I would simply pull down the plant to level out the canopy and keep pulling down the branches as they grow. This will open it up and cause more branches to get better light and in return produce amazing colas all over. You can check out my Banana Purple Punch Diary to see how I LST my plants and then what they grew up to be. I hope this helps.

Looks like my plants are growing towards the wall and not towards the middle where the light should be the best. Why do the plants behave like that and what should I do? Raise the net, rotate some of the plants, then redo the net? Remove the net completely? leave it as it is?

Actually plants tend to be taller when there is lack of light... If in the middle you have the brightest light that's normal that branches remain shorter. Plant in the right corner stretched the most in the grow tent corner area. Wild guess - she receives less light because of the fan. Just measure PPFD in different parts of your grow tent and you'll see. You have to rotate plants. Try alternate position of the fan.

what should I do? history: 21.05. Water with full dose of fertilizer ... 26.05. Soil really dry - Water with half dose of fertilizer 27.05. Plants look super healthy (24°C 55-60%RLF) 28.05. started to droop (27°C 40-45%RLF) 29.05. even worse, (25°C 45%RLF), surface still moist

Make sure to get 10-20% run off each time you irrigate too, this is essential for plant/soil health.

2 of my 3 plants are a bit yellow-ish at the top since about a week. Plant 1 also had a couple of sick leaves at the bottom that I did remove. Those leaves had brown/dark spots, felt dry like paper, had very purple stems and did smell more like hay. More info in my report.

Your plants are showing over feeding and deficiency symptoms. You probably have nutrients lock out due to salt build up. Check your run off EC and pH to confirm, flash the medium, adjust feeding.

Your watering seems good. The plants will handle way much better Dry period then overwatering. That's exactly what Im doing with mine flowers since I was overwatering my first-grow. When the leaves wilt/drops then they are just thirsty and it's time for watering. I do this like that with my grow now because of the fungus gnats (so I want dry period all the time tbh) and plants (now in flowering) sucking the water out of the soil like crazy. I water everyday now, around 0.5L water. Maybe bit more, maybe bit less. The pots are light like feathers every second day, completely dry.

@emanresU, I am not sure about that. Sure, I wont kill my plants.. But the day where they were extremely drooping, they had almost no growth and then they did need half a day to fully recover. After that, they did grow 3 cm yesterday. So to me it feels like I lost around 1 day of development drying them out like that. You are true that dry is better than overwatering and I am still scared of that, but on the other hand I want to find that sweetspot where they are just able to develop with full power

yo, lookin good. I have just noticed you are using plastic pots (very similar to mine) and the problem with them is that they hold water/humidity/wetness for weeks... I thought Im watering a little bit every 3-4 days but it turns out it's all wet soil under the first 1-2cm of dried soil. I got Fungus Gnats because of that.
taprootArmy
taprootArmy
@emanresU, but isnt that the point to keep the water? If it is evaporating, then it is just increasing humidity. Maybe good in veg, but in flower I'd rather have the water in the pots and not in the air. I dont have any problems with my plastic pots no pests and no soil temp or overwatering issues and watering once a week also saves quite a bit of time fabric pots lying around too, probably will try them in the next grow, but my first impression is that I prefer plastic btw. I have nematodes and neem oil lying around too, so I am prepared IF fungus gnats show up, but in fact I think plastic pots are indeed better against fungus gnats, because you can have a dry surface for much longer as the bottom half stays moist longer = less frequent watering

Best of luck with the grow🌱🌱 The first one is usually the most stressful but also the most memorable ✌️😎💨

Looks nice, I hope #3 will also be a succes, maybe she's just a lil bit shy and needs more time. Good Luck!

@Elyxion, Thanks, but plant 3 is not only late. She shows a lot of mutations. Leafs are really deformed, the whole plant is not symmetrical and kinda looks sick. It already started at germination with her strange asymmetrical cotyledons. I might give her a few additional days, but probably will remove her out of fear that the weak plant attracts pests that could also affect the two healthy plants.

Your plants are looking nice and healthy. Barely any leaf tip "burn" either, which everyone seems to have at least a little. I think you are watering fine. You keep great track of everything and seems to have everything dialed and are on point. A prolonged dryback could have negative effects but it doesn't look like your plants got at a dangerously dry level that would affect your yield or anything. Sometimes a little stress will produce larger and better quality buds. Have fun growing!

@Kosyjuana1, thank you for your kind words. 😘 One thing I did notice yesterday is that the drooping starts a few hours before their night time. The whole day the leaves were flat and stiff and around 3-4h before night time the drooping did start. I'll try reducing the amount of light to 18/6.. maybe 4h of recovering isnt enough for the plants and they just become tired before their night time?

Sick LST bruh! I'm curious how your grow is gonna turn out a the end tbh :)
taprootArmy
taprootArmy
@emanresU, thanks 😘 Canopy could by more flat/even... currently trying to fill the middle without having to remove the net. I already did damage one or two small shoots while weaving plants into the net, so I'd rather not un- and redo the whole thing. I'd be more gentle at first with my LST next time, but be more harsh later on. Plant 1 (lower amount of LST at first) did react MUCH better than plant 2 (as much LST as I could without having to fear a break) Besides that, pretty pleased with my grow so far.
