1st grow ever. Never grew anything before.
First weeks didn’t have pH up&down solutions - very hard water at home, pH ~7,5. Light schedule first weeks 18/6.
Humidifier is also still not there - therefore humidity between 37-43%. Retrospectively way too low. At the beginning not enough light and wind. Result of that - stem is way too thin and too long.
Adjusted watering pH to 6.4, light closer, more wind - the plant did a grow spurt in 3 days.
Watering when needed - around each 3-4 days, around 1-1.4l water. Light schedule changed to 20/4. Humidity - still getting hang of it, but median humidity is around 65% (still jumping from 50 to 72).
Overall the plant is healthy, stem is getting thicker.
Extreme growing this week.
Light schedule 20/4, temperature during day 29, night 20. Humidity ~64%. This week watered 2 times(1.4l each time), three days apart. T.a. tripart Micro 1,5ml/l, Grow 1ml/l, Bloom 0,5ml/l.
Started growing fast, stem is getting fat, new branches popping off. Started doing LST (before each watering). Did it 2 times. Didn’t seem to stress at all. It was pretty harsh training I think, was pushing it to the limit until it was stiff and wouldn’t bend anymore. You get a feeling like it’s going to break.
Anyways Purple Haze seems healthy, happy. Therefore I am pretty happy about how’s everything going.
Day 17: everything’s fine, maybe will water tomorrow
Day 18: watered 2 litres (2ml/l grow, 1.5ml/l micro, 0.5ml/l bloom).
Day 19: LSTed some branches again
Same conditions as 3rd week.
I think it’s starting to flower?
Grew a lot in, maybe could be a bit “bushier” when compared to other plants.
I would appreciate if someone commented on my LST. Does it look okay? Or what else should I be doing? Would love to get better at it
I somehow think she doesn’t have enough leaves?
Also I tried to make canopy a bit more even or smth like that?
Anyways, the plant looks strong and healthy, I’m watering every 2 days.
Pretty happy and excited :)
So we are into week 5, conditions as before.
It started drinking more, I have to water every 2 days 2liters. Soon maybe even every day? We’ll see
Trying to make canopy a bit more even, now I notice I should have topped as the main stem got very long
What do you guys think about the plant? Suggestions?
Now at the end of Week 5 watered after 3 dats pause - gave it 2,5l. Not training as much as before, afraid to stress it too much?
Started seeing my mistakes - next time I will top it, as the main stem got way to high, now I have to curl it to get an even canopy - no idea what will come of that when the main cola is so curled up, but anyway we’ll see. I should have been LSTing more aggressively in the beginning..
But for now looks like she’s happy, so I am happy too
P.S. I think it’s time to go down with the humidity?
Week 6
Day 36: removed humidifier, no need anymore, I think I could have removed it already a week before, but so far so good. Last watering on day 34, today the ground is still a bit wet, so I will do watering tomorrow. Last defoliation also on day 34 - today removed even more from the bottom and a lot of big fan leaves (is it okay? i guess will see). It doesn’t stretch so much as before anymore, I guess it almost reached it’s 80-90% of height. Blooming.
Plant looks happy and strong.
Day 37: watered with 2.5l, you can find the ml/l ratio above.
1 hour later humidity shot up to 70% - opened the tent door to ventilate, we’ll see how long it takes.
As you can see I’m growing more than one plant in the tent, so I guess humidity after watering wouldn’t be such an issue if I was growing only one.
Day 39: it’s flowering, I think the buds might be getting bigger? Will water on day 40 and then U have to leave for 2-3days.
Very excited to see how it will look after 3 days 😅
Day 40 : water 2.5l
Day 42: buds are getting bigger, the one on main stem is starting to look yummy. Did not get any higher. Watered again 2,5l
Day 43: after watering it got bigger - the buds are getting bigger, the height of the plant increase aswell. Today I started seeing a bit of snow on the leaves?
Day 44: watered with 1.5l
Day 46: watered again with 2l
Plant is getting sticky. And I finally saw some trichomes!!!!
Day 49: Buds are getting bigger, one the main stem huge one is forming, but just right underneath are two side buds - a bit afraid of mold..
Right now hard to keep humidity under 55, doing a lot of defoliation almost daily. LST should have been better, got unfortunately uneven
Week 9 - humidity is a real problem now, ventilation running on full speed, however humidity is still between 50-60, although I’d prefer 40-50 - for the next grow I will be needing a dehumidifier. Watering still every two days around 2Liters - I just check when the soil is dry and water it..
moved the light a bit closer, a few burn spots, moved up again, we’ll see what suits the plant
Start of the week no. 5: the colas are getting really big, no brown pistils yet, no amber trichomes, most are clear, some cloudy.. has a few weeks maybe?
Some light burns patches on leaves - I was experimenting with the light, tried moving closer, the had to back it up
In the middle of the week I realised I was completely wrong - those are not burns.
It’s CalMag deficiency. I think I gave too many nutrients, bit too low pH (I think it can take Calcium better with at least 6.5 pH - it was usually 6.1-6.2 )
Flushed it with water and calmag without nutrients, now drinking slowly. I will wait till it’s fully dry and give one more watering with only CalMag and higher pH. We’ll see how it goes
Wish me luck!!!
Week 10
So last week I had CalMag problem, you can still see it on her leaves, she was really stunted - not drinking, yellow/brown spots on leaves. Right now it seems under control.
What did I change? First of all I looked up, seems like CalMag is best absorbed with pH 6.5-7.2 or something, so one of the mistakes was pH too low - changed it to 6.5-6.8.
I think it all started, when I experimented and gave too much nutrients it got “lock out”. That’s why I then flushed it 2 times with only water + calmag at pH 6.8-7 and from then on strictly giving nutrients only according to the table that’s given by Terra Aquatica.
Seems like it picked up again, not seeing any new yellow/brown spots.
The buds are huge, smell is great, I hope I can farm soon.
Do you guys/gals have any tips? (On late flower/drying/curing)
Week 11
Since week 9-10 having calmag issues - but I now finally think it’s actually her time coming. The problem with her is that I defoliated, there are actually no fan leaves, maybe a few, but probably not enough and that’s why she is cannibalizing herself.
But all in all the buds got even bigger!
I know it’s forbidden - but I touched it, they feel also really dense, but I will have to wait after drying.
These are the final days no, so I’m flushing her right now and I think on Thursday I will cut her..
End of week 11: still not cutting her, next week maybe
So we are into week 12 already, I think this time for real she is getting ready.
I will harvest her on Wednesday - sadly I leave for five days and don’t want to leave her like this alone.
My drying room is setup and ready, so Wednesday will be her last day sadly.
It was an awesome plant, it was veeeery fun watching her grow, although at the end I overdid it with nutrients - lesson learned.
So yeah I call Purple Haze my first and I will always remember her. Somehow this grow was all about her for me (although I had other plants).
So she is drinking still well, I’m only giving water these pas few weeks, about 1,5l a day. She got better after that nutrient lockout.. the buds are swelling up again!! I take it as a good sign, it’s like our bodies emitting adrenaline just before death. So I guess she knows it’s her time too.
What else.. I think she is getting a bit purple? She was pretty white all the time, got a tone of orange for a bit and now she’s getting purple. The buds are really dense too! I know! It’s not allowed to touch, but I am still learning and that’s what how I learn stuff!
