Quick Update:
Mixed some soil to start off diary Veg Week 2. Basic stuff (pick-a-soil mix, perlite, bag of worm castings). Planning on moving the seedlings early, but not too young to avoid the pests in my garden. My guess is maybe Veg Week 3 -- starting to look like Veg Week 4. The goal is to have 2 females per 30 gallon pot. Tried it before and it helps with keeping the plant height low -- just remember to train the plants (LST) to give them both room to grow and defoliate to allow air flow since humidity does become an issue when you grow the plants close to each other.
Whats up with the plants?:
The second set of seedlings is catching up in height to the first set. They're only a week apart-- it shouldn't make much difference by the end of the season. T.O.2 (just numbering to identify) is showing the curly leaf tip trait. I'm not sure where I first saw or read about this, but it's a genetic trait of the plant--and not a nutrient deficiency or watering issue (see picture).
Watering?
Honestly. I'm just checking the plants and soil. I'm allowing the soil to dry -- not entirely, but I'm practicing my patience to wait for the plant to start to droop slightly before giving it a good shower. Usually watering about every 2 to 3 days (normal for seedlings). Slowly increasing amount as ambient temperature starts to go up. Eventually I will be watering every day and placing plants near a pop-up canopy for partial shade.
I think you might want to start planning out how to do some LST on your 4 plants in the 30gl pot. 1 plant can become a monster and you have 4 that are sativa dominant. Good luck!
@Big_Rade_SCLA, I'd wait till they show their sex before doing anything drastic. That way you can really go all out on what type of training you do. My 2¢
@Kritkl, my guess is that they won't all be girls and I'll end up pulling one or two out, but LST has been on my mind. I'll take your advice for these four.
@Kritkl, you can smell it from like 15 to 20 feet away. Real sweet dank smell. Close up you smell citrus-mint-orange or mandarin. The tallest one has a hint of purple on the nugs and smells a little like mango. Bomb stuff from Equilibrium.
