Germination
All 3 seeds germinated within 24h in the damp paper towel (this method ALWAYS seems to work for me). I planted all of them in roughly 20L of coco coir each. I decided to not give them any nutrients yet until the vegetative stage starts. Not having much experience yet, I have no idea if that beneficial or not. Once the seeds were placed in the pots, I activated the FC4000 grow light from Mars Hydro to 25% light intensity, at approximately 30cm height from the top of the coco coir.

Due to the rainy weather the humidity was more elevated then 55% on some days, reaching around 70%. This, though, has not had any effect on the plants growth. While it it not a big difference, one plant hasn’t grown as much as the other. But it’s not surprise, since it also surfaced later too. I probably planted it a bit deeper then the others or it just sprouted later for random reasons. Next time I’ll maybe try to plant them at the same depth depending on how the rest if this grow cycle goes.

Since plant #1 was growing slower, I decided to place her in the middle to give her the most light. Maybe she can catch up that way. I started to give more nutrients to the plants. I still haven’t figured out how much to water them. I gave them 1L and it lasted a bit more than 24h so I could have give a tad less. Apart from that nothing has changed. They are all healthy and growing.

Tried the FIMing method, but maybe I fucking missed more of the leaves then expected? They just seem to be growing in as half a leaf. The 1st and 3rd plant seem to have some kind of nutrient deficiency. Looking at the symptoms I assume it’s a magnesium deficiency. Bought some CalMag and we‘ll see how that goes.

Since I didn’t like the look of those half-cut leaves from my attempt of FIMing, I ended up topping them all. The two bigger plants have already almost filled out the space they have, so I’m considering starting the bloom cycle next after next week. Just depends how things go. Regarding the nutrient deficiency, I’m still unsure if a magnesium deficiency is really the correct diagnosis. But they don’t seem to be struggling too much, so let’s just see what happens… While doing the LST, I accidentally crumpled up a peak (last picture). I may have to cut it off since it doesn’t look like it could recover well from that.

I tried something new (for me) again this week. I defoliated the plant, mainly because it was getting too bushy and it anted enough air to circulate. I was planning on switching to bloom after this week, but since I have to go visit family and had to setup an improvised irrigation system, I’ll wait another week. Since plant #1 (the little one) wasn’t using the water up as much, I decided to just water her well before I leave and hope for the best. It should be fine though, since I’m only gone for a short amount of time.

That’s what came back to. The watering worked pretty poorly as the nutrients settled to the bottom of the container. But they all survived and that’s the only thing that matters. This wasn’t really a full week. It was only 4 days, but I’m too impatient to wait the rest of the week to flip it to bloom. Just saw that the bloom stage will take 55-60 days.

After switching to a 12:12 light schedule, new growth branches started popping up further down and I’m not sure whether cutting it will do more harm or not. It is quite a bit I’d have to cut, but then it could redirect its energy to the main tops. Apart from that, due to rainy weather the air humidity is getting very high (up to 75%) and I’m worried that this will cause any issues later in bloom. I’ll probably invest in a small dehumidifier for next time the humidity increases like that again. Every now and then I do cut some leaves to give all those tops a chance to get some light. It is getting super crowded though. Another reason getting rid of those new branches might be a good idea. I’m honestly not enjoying the flowering stage as much; really enjoyed training the plants beforehand. (Just as a side note, I’m back to watering manually. But I might hopefully switch to another automated system at some point.) Update on the last day of the week: I removed all the new growth that was too low on the plants. I maybe have removed a bit much, but let’s just see what happens.

Should I remove the newer branches that popped out on my plants? I switched it to flowering stage a week ago and I think my tent might be getting too crowded if I let them grow. But I also don’t want to stress the plant at this stage.

Doing a scrog.. Yes, 100% do it now. All will be blocked out so, u need to build the top as much as possible. Leaving bottom shoots on will sap energy from there.. Really should of been done during the stretch before preflower. But, its far from too late. No large stigmata on top (hairs) so she's still good to go imo. Really those nodes should be weaved thru and under the net, and only 1/4 or so of the top above the net. (Before pre flower).

The flowering phase continues and even though it’s plant #2 was the front-runner until now, plant #3 is really the furthest along with blooming. I’m going to have to keep an eye on that cal/mag deficiency in plant #2, but I’ve already increased her CalMag intake to 2ml/L. Maybe 1ml/L increase is not enough for a deficiency?

Plant #2 is still getting 2ml/L of CalMag with every watering. I think she’s slowly recovering from her deficiency. At least she’s not getting worse. I think the plant have also reached their max height for the tent, but i have no idea if that’s true, so we’ll see. I’ve also had to rearrange my setup; I moved the extractor fan from inside to outside the tent. That way I will have more space to move my light up if they do still grow. I did also turn the light intensity up to roughly 80%.

With help of a pH meter, I finally found out where the cal/mag deficiency came from. The pH of my watering solution was too low and was therefore not absorbed well. Everything is going fairly well except that I’ve had to move the grow light as high up as the grow tent allows. So at this point, if the plants are getting too much light, my only option will be to dim the light.

The nutrient deficiency isn’t getting better and only slowly gets worse. I think there is a good chance, that they will all survive for the next 3 weeks. I’m certain the issue is in the soil now, cause all other parameters I can control with the watering have been checked. Can’t really take the plant out at this stage to flush the coco coir, so waiting it out will have to do. I’m actually surprised cause the buds on the most deficient plant are actually pretty big. Fewer, but bigger. The healthiest plant has a lot of little nugs all over. I’m really hoping they will increase slightly in size. With some very humid weather lately, the humidity in the tent has once again fluctuated between 55% and 78%. I hope the fan can prevent mold formation with enough air circulation.

All three plants seem to be at a different stage of flowering. While two already developed fat buds, plant #3 is kinda behind. But then again, she also has the most buds on her. I’m curious to see if she will be able to stay upright by herself or if I have to help, like with plant #1. While it’s unfortunate to have to tops bleached on #1, I think it looks amazing.

Most branches started to fall over so I had to secure more of them. All three plants still seem at slightly different stages of flowering. I’m considering maybe harvesting them individually and let the rest keep growing until it’s done.

The middle plant (#1) is almost ready to be harvested. Plant #2 and #3 still have a bit to go. I think I removed too many leaves at some point during flowering, which caused them to lag a bit behind. I’ll just have to dry #1 somewhere else while the other two continue growing. Kinda sucks.

Seem like plant #1 needs another week and then I will harvest it. The bleached peaks are a loss anyways. For plant #2, I think 1-2 more weeks will be enough. While plant #3, I have no clue. Only a few pistils have started to change color. I’m actually quite surprised that the buds are maturing from the bottom of the plant to the top. I thought the light would cause the top buds to mature first. Maybe the light is just too bright, so that the stressed out peaks are lagging behind. Whatever it is, I’m growing pretty impatient at this point.
