A little late starting for my outdoor run. This will be my second ever outdoor grow. Running 2x Pink Runtz and 2x Amnesia Haze photoperiods by RQS. Last year pre-flower was around the end of July and in full flower mid August. ~2 months veg should be good. All will be getting topped and I might try main-lining one.
Soaked seeds (2x Pink Runtz + 2x Amnesia Haze) in a glass of water for ~24 hours starting - 5/20/24. All seeds had sunk ~12 hours later.
5/21/24 - All 4 tap roots have broken free. I moved them from the glass of water to paper towels.
5/22/24 - Tap roots aren't very long, ~1/4". I went ahead and placed them in solo cups w/bags for a little humidity control.
5/23/24 - Moved them inside the tent with the LSD-25 until it warms up outside some more. All 4 have almost broke the surface of the soil. They're only 6 hours into their day so I think they'll have all emerged by the end of their day (late morning of 5/24/24).
5/24/24 - Almost all have emerged. One of the Amnesia Haze has helmet head. Hopefully it opens itself, I don't wanna have to in fear of hurting it.
5/25/24 - Had to pull the seed shell off one of the Amnesia's. All looking good so far.
6/2/24 - Very light feeding only because I think the soil isn't very good, kinda old.
6/3/24 - No burn so I think I might have been right. It's about time to start taking them outside for a while.
6/4/24 - The Pink Runtz are really growing, soon they'll have doubled the Amnesia Haze.
6/5/24 - Watered all ~45ml each.
6/9/24 - Start of 3rd week. Fed about ~150ml with mix of Fox Farm Big Bloom and Grow Big. One of the Amnesia Haze(2) doesn't look too happy. Leaves curling down and I noticed what looks like almost like a very light sprinkle of white powder on the soil. Not sure if it's just from being dry. The rest don't have it and its same soil from same bag.
6/12/24 - Checking the roots of the one Amnesia Haze, they looked kinda rotted.
6/13/24 - I let them dry back more before watering and the sick Amnesia Hazes' roots are looking better. Once again I fuck up with watering.
6/15/24 - Watered one of the Pink Runtz as it was droopy.
6/16/24 - Start of Week 4 - Had already transplanted the two Pink Runtz to their final homes in 5 gallon pots. The two Amnesia Haze are now outside but I decided to put them in the ground instead of in a pot. Last year, two of the bag seeds I was growing I transplanted into the ground and they did very well. Only fed by making teas with Dr.Earth dry amendments and using water from the hose without pH-ing. One of the Pink Runtz has 5 nodes so I may top it tomorrow to get the manifold started.
Fed both the Amnesia Haze: To 1 gallon of water, added: 4 tablespoons-Big Bloom + 3 teaspoons-Grow Big + 3 ml-Cal-Mag. Fed ~1L per plant.
6/17/24 - Wasn't able to get any pics today of the Amnesia Haze that are outside before it got dark. I checked on them and it looks like maybe our dog stepped on one. Most of the stem was laid flat on the ground with the top part growing vertical back towards the light. I'm gonna need to put a cage around them.
I started the manifold with Pink Runtz-2. I'm gonna follow the guide from CocoForCannabis. So to start it, I waited until she was working on the 6th node and topped back to the 3rd node. Then removed the growth from the 1st and 2nd nodes, leaving only the fan leaves from each node and the 2 new main branches. I'll wait to see how she recovers and for the 2 new branches to get to at least their 4th nodes before taking the next steps.
6/23/24 - 5 weeks in veg, all seem to be doing pretty well being outside. There was no hardening off time, they went straight outside. They get good direct morning sun and then towards late-ish afternnoon they're under some shade with indirect sun light.
7/7/24 Start of week 7. They're being plagued by leaf hoppers and eaten by inch worms. Sprayed them with some stuff that should help with that though.
7/13/24 Last day of week 7. I don't like when most of my plants' life has sucked. I feel like the two Amnesia Haze have really had it rough ever since I moved them outside. They seem to be doing alright and I think I'm getting ahold of the bugs. I don't think there's new worm damage but some spidermites, also dealt with them last year. Never got completely rid of them but it never got even close to being infested. They just hung out under some fan leaves. Still going to treat with the Dr Earth stuff.
7/14/24 - Beginning of 8th week.
7/19/24 - Accidentally split the stalk on of of the Amnesia Haze. No grafting tape but it's tied up. They don't look like much, kinda all over the place which they kinda are as I've got the branches tied down. Definitely
planted them too close to each other. The Pink Runtz especially the manifold is looking good, probably the best looking out of the 4. My main focus has been on the tent inside. I like indoor much better.
In photos, the amnesia haze looks quite odd but that because I'm not letting them grow vertical too much. The stalks are very thin but the leaves are massive. Thin stalks is probably something I did wrong. I cant remember if I said in last weeks entry, a caterpillar ate one of the main branches. Down to 7 main tops, I found and dispatched the bastard though. He was wreaking havoc on all of the plants.
7/21/24 - Start of 9th week
7/24/24 - The Pink Runtz are definitely in pre-flower/showing maturity with pistils. The Amnesia Haze apparently isn't ready yet.
8/24/24 - Last day of week 13. One of the Amnesia Haze is turning red and leaves yellowing, definitely a deficiency. Both really starting to flower now. The two Pink Runtz are doing great though, buds stacking up nicely. Not worried about those two.
9/1/24 - Start of Week 15.
9/3/24 - In the 7th week of flower, for the Pink Runtz. The Amnesia Haze might be a week behind. Pink Runtz is advertised as 8-9 weeks flower time and going by trichomes it looks like it'll be 8 weeks at least. I'm not sure how the Amnesia Haze are gonna do, weather hasn't been good and it's just getting colder. They still have another 4 weeks at the earliest.
Smells strongly of pepper or some kind of spice and a slight hint of mint, it's different but not in a bad way. Buds are a little airy but they could've went longer.
Nothing bad to say about the smoke. Not completely smooth doesn't burn. Gives your throat more of a cold feeling which I don't mind.
It's quite a bit leafy. I suspect there's been some re-veg happening. My neighbor has a motion sensor spotlight on his shed and a lot of animals that hang around his yard causing the light to come on. My best theory anyway.
After some time in a jar the smells are amazing. Almost candy-ish, a very tart-citrus-y scent. The buds turned out quite nice, not real real dense but they're not airy. Smokes wonderfully. It's smooth and it's quite potent and I'm a all day every day kind of smoker.
Harvested just in time for the hurricane that I didn't even know was coming. Early harvest once again but that the way I do. Might be my last outdoor grow for a while or maybe just one or two next time. Too much to juggle with what I got inside too.
