After 48 hours, all 5 of the germinated beans were put in the starter pots. 5 of the 5 sprouted.
After a couple weeks indoors under the light, the best 2 or 3 will be grown outside, or in the greenhouse depending on the weather. It rains!
Switching to organic nutrients is something I’ve been wanting to do. I didn’t know how to start. The new, JUJU ROYAL! Powered by Biobizz, is making it easy. Soil was made last week using some old indoor soil that was mixed with compost, worm castings and PRE-MIX. The grow bags were then filled and watered so they can cook a little.
Adjusting the light can be somewhat open to interpretation. Where someone might want it a little closer with less intensity, someone else might want to be further away with more watts. These are happy here @ 55cm and 420 watts. Powered by F.O.G. Next week they will be outside. The first nodes were just removed. They are eating well! The last EC reading was 1.4 with a pH of 6.8 – the pH should drop as we feed more.
Happy grows! 😎✌️
Greetings. The plants have been outside for a couple days now. All are Happy! Pistils started to appear yesterday. Thanks for looking in. Happy Grows 😎
Today is Day 30 😎
The Runtz are flowering, the two Wedding Cakes will start any day now. Next week should show some real growth!
Shortly after putting these outside I noticed a few white specks on some fan leaves. The spots gradually got larger. The environment here has a lot of critters. It looks like its Thrips, I can even see their poop. I sprayed & treated with NeemAzal, it works on most critters. Everything will get a 2nd application next week.
Its already day 37. There has been no more visible thrip damage. All the plants were given a 2nd drenching of NeemAzal. These plants are looking pretty healthy. There is a pink, pheno of the Runtz. Both of the Wedding Cakes have started to flower. Thanks for looking in. 😎
Today is Day 45. Its raining again. I'm glad to have this small greenhouse when it rains as the buds do better if they stay dryer now. The Runtz are getting sticky and starting to smell. The Wedding Cake are stacking now. It appears there are no more Thrips, at least I don't see any more bug damage. There are some random butterfly's in the garden. Soon the plants will need a regular misting of Bt, usually every 10 days until it gets close to harvest. A little prevention outside goes a long way.
It’s been a rainy week. Yesterday the sun was out, so a good time for fresh pics. I wanted to get some from the Wedding Cakes. They are finally starting to stack, they didn't show any preflowers for a good week or so after the Runtz. The un-topped version should have a large main cola, its 80cm tall from the dirt. The topped one is also growing nicely for only being in the 6 liter pot. There is also a Runtz in a 6 liter. Both are starting to fade earlier than the others. 😎
Friday was a stormy and windy night. Rain even blew through the open greenhouse windows, the buds got wet. Everything got a good shake! Its better they stay dry. The nutrients were mixed to an EC of 2.5 for the Wedding Cakes, and then the strength was dialed back a little for the Runtz. The purple Runtz is nearly ready and was just flushed. The two other Runts will be flushed any day now. Thanks for looking in. 😎
Last week the buds got wet during a thunderstorm. Water and dense maturing buds don't mix well at all. After only a few days, I was able to see some dying sugar leaves. Telling first signs of Bud Rot, or Botrytis. So far, only the two green Runtz are affected. Its a pity! They were looking so nice. It happens. Now all I can do is cut out whatever is rotting and the area around the Rot! Just trying to get a little more time to mature. Its a good thing I don't grow for quantity. These will be harvested with the smaller Red, Runtz in a few days. A Red Runtz bud was cut to inspect for rot. With the color it was hard to see. It looks good. So far, the Wedding Cake's are also looking good. Bud Rot sucks!
"Botrytis, or bud rot, requires specific conditions. More specifically, it requires water in order to develop and start creating spores. So, the most common cause of bud rot is high humidity."
"Bud rot is a type of mold that develops inside cannabis buds. The stems on the inside of the buds start with an infection that spreads to the outside, making it extremely hard to detect in the early stages. After it has infected the inside of the buds, the rot starts spreading in all directions, producing spores that can spread to the other plants in our grow space or any other plants nearby."
Attached is a picture of the dried red Pheno, the green are still hanging. As soon as the green are dry I'll post up some harvest numbers. These shots were taken just prior to harvesting.
Today these Wedding Cakes will be harvested. Unfortunately, bud rot set in after getting wet. Its been tough cutting the rot away. What is left looks nice.
