Start of a new grow with some new toys and revised closet. Im a rookie, but Ive done my research & always trying to improve. Ive done a couple previous grows, all with cfls. This will be my 1st led grow and hoping to see some improvements in output and quality. Follow me as I will keep this documented weekly 😁

At 1st wasnt happy with LED, growth wasnt as good as previous with cfls. I added two 40w cfls to assist, and growth caught up. I have a 2nd led fixture on order that arrives tommorrow. Today is day 13, tmrw on day 14 (last day of week 2) i will transfer to bigger containers and add in that 2nd led, replacing the cfls i used this week

1st day of week 3/last day of week 2. Tmrw on day 15 i will change lighting to 18/6. I transfered to larger containers today, and like to give them 24hrs before the light adjustment to avoid shock. Running Two Maxsisun 300w units. Day 16 started nutes with a light woodering 😁

Great veg week. Its an increased nutrient week. Only issue was slightly high ph in soil, so I added a little more vinegar to my water. On previous grows, I would do my LST tie downs on approx day 31-33, but growth was really good, and over 10" on 7 of 9 plants, so tied down early on those 7, on day 28. Great color and stalk girth so far.

Great week 5, growth this week was great. Stalks are thick, and did some tie downs to spread out growth. Biggest surprise was today day 35, saw what appears to be pistils on one plant! Very surprised, as this is 10 days earlier than Ive seen in the past. Its late, so i will dig deeper and check every plant tmrw when I feed.

Sex week! Mid week i switched to 12/12 after i was able to sex 8 of 9 plants. Switched to my bloom feed mid week. Unfortunatley, i had 5 of 9 turn male. Still 1 stubborn plant that still showing no sex yet, but crossing my fingers for a 4th female. My previous grows i was averaging about 65% females, so this is the 1st time ive ever been under 50%.

Week 7: sexed the final unknown plant, and happy its a female. So out of 9 seeds, i got 4 female, 5 male. This is the 1st time in 7 grows i got more males than females, so Im not upset. These 4 will hopefully fill out better with more room and these new LED lights (2x Maxsisun 300w). Notixed my PH was not comming down to 7 with vinegar. Checked my tap water, and my ph had went up to 8 from 7.5 (last checked 4 yrs ago). Note to others: check your PH more often if you use tap. I mixed in my feed this with week with RO water (near zero TDS) from a friends set up, which was 5.5 ph, so gave them a clean water feed with approx 7.2ph to help bring my levels in check to help nutes absorb properly

Grow Questions

WooderIcestarted grow question 6 years ago
Can someone look at my newest pics? 1 of 4 plants (shortest of the 4, so its not light burn) has about 6-8 fan leaves like pics. Happened 36hrs after i did a big flush, that brought my ph down around 6.7. I think its either too much nutes, or lacking phosphorus. Help!

Don't search too long : it is a PH issue. 1st last week you PH was 7.6 in soil which is way too high , then you flush your medium and down your PH to 6.7 so almost 1 ph unit less than last week : This PH fluctuation is too high , you should have low your PH gradually than low it like that. The harm is done, just stick to that ph for your next feeding and wait for recovery 😊✌️🏼

Wk 9. the 1 shorter plant developed curling leaves and spots, which the other 3 plants dont have. they're all fed the same. Im assuming it was an overfeed of nutes? this was always the runt of my original 9 plants, and is grew funny from the start. I did 2 flushes this week on all the plants to make sure the others dont have problems. Bud growth is going great, lovin these Led's

Im a few days behind on an update, but heres week 10. Things are okay.. Ive had some PH balance issues, which I believe has effectedy nutrient intake.. Its a long story, but lesson now learned, and will help me for the next grow. I also believe, that Ive outgrown these containers, and thats effecting my bud growth. Next grow Im going to 3gal fabric pots. So what did I learn this grow? 1) 1.8 gal containers too small now that my plants are growing better w/ LEDs 2) Calibrate your electronic PH meter, and measure PH including nutrients.

wk 11 in the books. i will continue nute feed for 2-3 days into week 12, then begin my flush. my harvest will be mid week 14. nxt grow, going to larger containers. buds look great on 2 of 4.. other 2 are kinda weak, stunted or too shocked from the ph imbalance issues. these are all 'random' different strains from my previous grows and crossbreeding.. so I assume with the different strains I have, they all reacted differently to conditions of this grow. my container sizes I believe have stunted my bud growth as well. my next grow, Ill go to 3gal fabric buckets, and I have some good legit seeds for the next grow in March. Gg#4, GSC, OGKush & some others. So Im hoping with fixing my issues this go 'round, Im hoping I will be at the top of my game on my next grow. Its about learning more each time.

Week 13 in the books! was a full flush week, as I will be harvesting mid wk 14. Ive been watching tricomes, taking snipits of sugar leaves, and checking them over. These are 2nd & 3rd gen grows, from prev collected random strains.. In other words, Its always a Surprise as to what strain comes out. Ive got 3 different strains here.. a Sativa looking, a very White strain, and 2 plants of a colorful purplish strain.

Nice Minty, Citrus taste. Cured well, the 2 week flush really helped the flavor. A nice high, more Sativa-ish charactaristics. Good daytime buzz. Not the best weed Ive ever had, but better than you'd expect, considering its a random bagseed.

overall, happy with the grow. there were some small signs of stress, and I had a little bit of seeding on 2 plants, most likely due to ph stress. I bounced up and down 2 pts, had issues with my meter, and didnt realize my nutes dropped the Ph so much. by the time I fixed the problem, the damage was done. Live & Learn. Makes me more pumped to see what I can do on this next grow with some decent seeds.

Thanks. Its some Diesel variant. got original seeds through friend of a friend, so not exactly sure of specific strain. Plants were a little "stretchy" at first.. im still learning proper distance with the leds. I should have started them a little closer, but didnt want to 'light burn' them as weak lil babies. lol

Spinner & Stick - thx for the advice!! Im pretty confident my PH was all outta whack, causing either nute burn, or lack of nute uptake. I was making rookie mistakes, and lowering my PH of water, prior to adding nutes (Genhydro nutes lower ph) so my feed was too low PH. then, after frustration with PH readings, i bought calibration powders, and my new PH meter was off by .5 PH, so that caused me more issues. Now, my meter is balanced, and my nute / water feeds are around 6.5 ph. One less mistake Ill make next time!! Haha.

thanks! You gotta be delicate & take your time for sure to do it right. i water lightly between soil layers to make sure its not too heavy or light and the transfer 'absorbs' nicely

@freshwaterjellyfish - thx for the write! Ventilation is pretty good actually. I attached a pic to show in this weeks update.. inside/outside cabinet temp/humidity monitoring, deskfan in rear blowing over the space heater to dispurse better/create a breeze, and overhead in the front of the cabinet a 50cfm bathfan hardpiped in 4ft away. I put in a Y & cap, so i put air freshener in there to keep the smell down on my exhaust. 😉

Thanks Spinner. I thought maybe it was the ph change. Tried to tune in the ph, knowing it was too high, and went too extreme! Thx again

i will do some tie downs (LST) and remove a couple lower branches that arent recieving light. id like to try to FIM, but nervous about attempting it haha
