Mom’s second indoor dutch passion grow!

Momgrowsthechronic So, just to start, everything in my tent is the same strain- Dutch Passion AutoUltimate. This is my 2nd attempt at growing this stain. As you can see in the photos above, my 1st attempt is finishing up on the left side of my tent. She is in her 10th week, 50/50 cloudy/clear trichs with no amber as of yet. The seedlings have done well this week and everything seems healthy so far! I have been watering the babies every other day with air bubbled, ph’d (6-6.2) tap water- about 250ml (half of a standard disposable plastic water bottle) per plant per watering. No nutrients as of yet. 🇨🇦 420 forever!

Momgrowsthechronic So, some big changes in the tent this week! My first attempt Dutch Passion AutoUltimate was harvested in her 11th week on day 75. She went from 50/50 clear/cloudy trichomes to almost all cloudy with small patches of amber showing up throughout the entire plant. I felt that she had reached peak potentcy so I decided to chop her down. I have posted some pictures above of the finished plant and I will post the final weight in future once I have it. The buds are dense and frosty and have an overwhelmingly floral smell. Looks and smells ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and I can’t wait to try it! ***UPDATE ON FINAL CURE WEIGHT is 75 grams of deliciously, tight buds that taste like pine, diesel and a hint of citrus too! I love this strain for at home, daytime smoking as it provides an uplifting, energetic high that lasts for hours. I have included some pictures above of the finished product/buds for you to check out.*** As for the seedlings, they are doing great! I started with nutrients on day 10 and they seem to be loving it. I am still watering every other day but have increased the amount to 500 ml (a standard disposable plastic water bottle) per feeding. Now that the big girl is out of the tent, I have increased the temperature to 78-80 degrees fahrenhuit. The seedlings should respond well to the warmer environment and hopefully it will promote vigorous vegetative growth over the next 2-3 weeks!

Momgrowsthechronic 🎄 Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄 Just a quick post this week as I am busy with the usual holiday obligations... Both plants A & B are thriving in the tent under the current conditions. Plant B seems to have taken the lead over plant A with bigger leaves and thicker stems. Both plants are showing sex with healthy white hairs as of day 19-20. I am still watering at a rate of 1ml/litre every second day but I have increased the amount of water being given per feeding. The plants seem to be experiencing a growth spurt right now and are drinking considerably more water over the past week. Both plants A & B are drinking about 1500 ml or 1.5 lires each per feeding.

Momgrowsthechronic Happy New Years everyone! 🥂 🍺 🍻 Wishing all of the grower’s out there a successful and abundant year this 2019! So, day #28 and the end of week 4. It’s been a slightly more challenging week than I had hoped for. Plant A has begun showing some sort of deficiency ( I think ??? ) that has affected it’s bottom 2 sets of leaves ( so far... ). I have posted some pictures above of what literally happened over 2-3 days. I began noticing that the leaves were shriveling up, almost dehydrating and then yellowing with brown spots. Almost completely dead within days and it appeared to be moving up the plant quite quickly. NOT GOOD! I’m no expert and I’m still not quite sure what’s going on but I had some CalMag on hand from my last grow and I’ve been using it! I’ve been adding it to my nutrient mix at a rate of 5 ml per gallon and it seems to be working. Plant A’s leaves have stopped yellowing/dying and otherwise looks pretty healthy- fingers crossed! Plant B is growing beautifully and is currently the larger of the two ladies. Both plants are about the same height but plant B seems thicker and bushier somehow. Both plants have begun branching out like crazy so I’ve started some LST (low stress training) as well as some ponytailing to help out that new lower growth. I’m still watering every other day, about 1.5-2 litres per plant and I’ve increased my nutrients to a rate of 1.5 ml/litre or 6 mls to a gallon + the 5 mls of CalMag per feeding. Hopefully things hold out in the tent as I am hoping for bigger plants than my first attempt with this strain. 🙏

Momgrowsthechronic So, the end of week 5, day #35 and it’s been a stable, pretty uneventful (in a good way) week in the tent. Both plants have almost doubled in height so I guess this is what other growers refer to as the "flowering stretch"? The ladies have been averaging 1-1.5 inches of vertical growth per day and it’s been really exciting to watch! Plant A has grown the tallest the fastest (22 inches) but she is still struggling a little with older fan leaf issues. I cut back on the CalMag to 2.5 mls per gallon (approx. half strength) and within 3-4 days had yellowing bottom leaves again. So, I’m back up to 4-5 mls per gallon (almost full strength) in an effort to keep plant A satisfied and healthy. So far, she has stopped yellowing again but there are some tiny rust coloured spots on a few leaves still :( I just haven’t had any extra time to foliar feed the CalMag this week. Plant A seems to need a heavy dose of CalMag to survive at this point so I guess I will continue using it for now. Plant B is about 1.5-2 inches shorter than her sister (20 inches) but SO beautiful! She has large, fat leaves and is much bushier and fuller throughout. Plant B has lost a couple of leaves right near the bottom and has a tiny patch of rusty spots on one leaf. Overall she is the healthier of the two plants and seems to be tolerating the high dose of CalMag as well. I am watering every second day at a solid 2 litres per plant and have increased my nutes to 2mls/litre or 8mls/gallon. I am now feeding at full strength (for autoflowers) according to the feeding schedule that I have been following but I will be watching both plants closely and increasing the nutes if necessary. I have now stopped ponytailing the upper growth and removed most of the stakes that I use for LST (light stress training) as I have spread the lower branches out to my satisfaction. I simply try to get those bottom branches out far enough that they clear the upper canopy allowing more light in all around. I will be starting with a bud booster at the beginning of week 6 and this should give the extra boost of P & K (Phosphorus/Potassium) needed for great bud formation and development! Overall, no major issues this past week but things can change so quickly that it’s still fingers crossed and hoping for the best... thanks. 🙏🏼

Momgrowsthechronic So, some really great changes in the tent this week! I upgraded my two blurple Amazon light fixtures for an Electric Sky 180. My eyes are much happier when working in the tent and I like that I can now view the plants in almost natural colour. Both plants seem to be responding well to the change of light and have continued to stretch all week long. Not only have they continued to grow up but out as well becoming nice little plants! Plant A is now 33 inches tall and developing bud sites throughout the entire plant. The yellowing bottom leaves and rust spots have completely stopped for now but she is still quite dark green. I know she’s getting the extra Nitrogen with the CalMag so I think it’s time to slowly remove that from my feeding schedule. I believe that most people stop using it once their plants are fully into flower? I will wean both plants off of it over the next week or two and watch for any issues as a result. Plant B is 32 inches tall and just fully into flower now. She seems to be almost a full week behind her sister as far as bud development goes. Her overall colour is lighter but she has continued to really widen/fill out all week. I am still watering every other day using 1 gallon between both plants. I am concerned that I am not wetting the entire pot when watering and I never have any runoff. The plants don’t appear dry but I’m thinking about increasing the amount of water per feeding as the current amount just doesn’t seem like enough. I upped my nutes a bit more just the other day to 10 mls per gallon as well as adding in the bloom booster this past week. I will be using AN Big Bud, 4-5 mls per gallon for weeks 6-8 maybe 9 depending on how long this grow plays out. It’s been really cold here this past week so I’ve had a hard time keeping the tent temperature above 72F but they seem to be tolerating these fluctuations. Overall, another calm & stable week for both plants as we hit the halfway point of this grow and head into week #7. 🇨🇦 😻 🙏🏼

Momgrowsthechronic It’s the end of week 7, day #49 and things are progressing nicely in the tent. The plants have continued to stretch a little more this week but I believe the "flowering stretch" is pretty much over for these girls. Budding has gone into full swing and the smell has become much more noticeable when opening and working inside the tent. Resin production has begun on Plant A on the upper buds and that’s probably contributing to the increase in odor. I’ve removed a few leaves from the bottom of both plants to make watering easier and I’ve been tucking the large fan leaves to allow for better light penetration. Plant A~ has completely stopped all vertical growth at this point and achieved a final height of 37". She is still darker green with less overall foliage and about one week ahead of plant B in the budding process. I’ve noticed that her branches have hardened up over the past week- I think this is in preparation for supporting future bud weight? Plant B~ has surpassed her sister and is currently measuring in at a fabulous 39.5" tall! I’m not sure if she’s totally done stretching yet but things are definitely slowing down. She is lighter in colour and seems to have a few more bud sites than plant A but this could be because she’s bigger overall. As far as nutes go, I’m still adjusting as needed. I have had some light leaf tips for weeks now, which I’m okay with. But after increasing the Sensi Bloom parts A&B to 10 mls/gallon, I noticed 2-3 slightly brown tips. So, I’m backing off to the 8 mls/gal again and I’m satisfied that these plants are being fully fed at this amount. This has been the second week using the Big Bud at 4-5 mls/gal and I’m happy with what I see so far. I am going to continue to use it through to the end of week 8. I am phasing out the CalMag and I’m down to 2.5 mls/gal with no negative effects so far. I am still watering every other day using 1 gallon between both plants- 2 litres per plant per feeding. Momgrowsthechronic Well, all and all, a decent week in the grow tent. Not super exciting as the plants have pretty much stopped stretching now and are simply putting on bud. It’s been REALLY cold here all week long and I’ve had a hard time getting the tent up to 70 degrees fahrenhuit. I’ve had a few days down around 68 degrees and I don’t think they like it! ☹️ They are surviving but I feel they’ve slowed down a bit to cope with the extremely cold temps. I am looking at some fire safe options for heating my tent moving forward without much success so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thx. Plant A decided to give me another inch this week and is currently measuring in at 38" tall. I’ve had to raise her up a little (placing something beneath the bottom of the pot) in order to compensate for the height difference between the two plants. This way both plants are receiving the same amount of light from above without having to tilt/angle the light itself. Plant A is bulking up nicely and her resin production is off the charts! Might be the cold causing the plant to crystal up like crazy? Curious. Plant B has grown a little more this week coming in at 41.5" tall. I’m super pleased with this as she actually surpasses Dutch Passion’s average height recommendation of 80-100 cms. Unfortunately, there is something going on with Plant B that seems to be affecting her upper leaves. The fan leaves are somewhat blotchy (yellow/green) and they are covered with tiny rust coloured dots. I have posted pics above and any advice would be greatly appreciated. After doing some research online, I came across some info suggesting that cold temperatures can cause/worsen Calcium/Magnesium deficiencies? Even though I had almost completely weaned both of these plants off of the CalMag, I have added it back in to the feeding schedule in the hopes that it solves the problem. So, as far as watering and nutrients go, a few changes this week. I am still watering every other day but have increased the amount to 3-3.5 litres per plant per feed. So about 1.5-1.75 litres per day for each and they seem to be lovin it. I’m wondering if they are requiring more water now because they are fully into flower or if it’s simply because they are bigger plants now? I’ve maintained the base nutes at a rate of 8 mls per gallon while increasing the CalMag once again from 1 ml per gallon to 4 mls per gallon in an attempt to deal with the rust spotting issues affecting Plant B. No matter what, every time I try to remove the CalMag from these girl’s diet- they complain. CalMag hogs these ladies be! This was my final week using the Big Bud as it seems to have done it’s job creating more bud sites with larger buds. Going into week 9, I will be using just the base nutes and the CalMag as I don’t feel these ladies are quite ready for a bud ripener yet. Possibly in week 10 perhaps 11, I will be starting with the Advanced Nutrients Overdrive. Momgrowsthechronic Well it’s the end of week 9, day 63 for both plants and it’s still been exceptionally cold here! I’ve been able to maintain temperatures around the 70 degree mark but I’m concerned that the extreme cold is affecting the bud density of Plant A. Unfortunately, the Calcium deficiency that was only affecting Plant B is now ravaging the top of Plant A as well :( But despite the chilly temps and the deficiency, both plants are continuing to build buds and put on weight. Go girls go! Plant A- I have concerns that the cold temps in my tent are causing her buds to form loose, light and airy. It almost looks like foxtailing but it’s my understanding that this is usually caused by extremely high temperatures. I’m wondering if this foxtailing effect can happen due to overly cold temperatures as well? She is also miles ahead of her sister in terms of trichomes, orange pistols and suspected harvest date. When I checked her trichs earlier this week, I was surprised to find a few clear but mostly cloudy trichomes already! So, needless to say I have started her on the Advanced Nutrients Overdrive! Slightly earlier than I had planned on but I’m hoping to push this plant a few weeks further and thicken up her buds significantly. Plant A has also been affected by the Calcium deficiency first noticed last week in her sister. It really hit the fan leaves at the top of the plant quickly and severely but doesn’t seem to spreading much lower after adding the CalMag back into the feeding schedule. Plant B- I am super happy with this special little lady! She is budding up nicely and is much more like my 1st attempt at growing this strain (harvested in week #2 of this grow diary, pics are there if you’d like to compare). Her buds are dense, heavy and thankfully no where near ready for harvest! She’s still showing all white pistols, all clear trichomes and the buds are fattening up by the day. I will NOT be adding the Overdrive into Plant B’s feeding schedule quite yet as as she is just not ready... soon though! The Calcium deficiency that I discovered last week seems to be under control after adding the CalMag back into the mix. I am really hoping to push this girl to the 90-100 day range for harvest, fully possible from what I’ve seen other growers achieve with this strain- fingers crossed. 😜 So, as for water and nutes... I have increased the amount of water being given per feeding in exchange for watering every third day instead of every second. With the really cold temps, the plants don’t seem to be drinking the water as fast through thier root systems? I’ve been using a moisture meter to check the soil this past week. It’s still wet towards the bottom of the pot by the end of the second day (my usual watering/feed day throughout this entire grow). But by the third day the soil is almost dry and the plants appear ready to be watered again- so I’m just goin with it. I’m at 4 litres/1 gallon per plant, per watering every third day. The nutrients are the same as usual with the exception/addition of the Overdrive for Plant A. So the base nutes are Sensi Bloom parts A&B- 4mls of each per gallon, CalMag- 4mls per gallon and for Plant A only at this time- the Overdrive at 4mls per gallon. Both plants seem to be happy and healthy with the feeding schedule I’ve been following and tweeking as we work our way through this grow. That’s pretty much it for week 9. Thanks to all of the growers who responded to last week’s grow question, always appreciated! I’m learning as I go and maybe someday I’ll be able to help other newbies such as myself. Momgrowsthechronic Week 10 has been a great week all around! I couldn’t handle the continued cold temperatures as I felt it was negatively affecting the plants. So I hung one of my Amazon blurples back in the tent and it is helping out immensely! I have been able to raise the temps from a chilly 68-70 degrees back up to 76-80 degrees depending on the day. The Electric Sky is 180 true watts and although the blurple is advertised as 300 watts it only puts out 135 true watts. I am currently using 315 true watts between the two lights and both plants seem to be responding well to the warmth as well as the extra bump of red light emitted by the inexpensive blurple. Looking back- I should have done this weeks ago. Plant A- is still about the same as last week. Lots of cloudy trichs, orange hairs and disappointing buds. I truly feel that because of the extremely cold temps this plant had gone into survival mode and almost completely stopped drinking/eating nutrients through her root system. It’s almost like Plant A was stalled out, therefore producing light/airy/foxtailing type buds of no density- not quality bud as far as looks and squeezability go! But since raising the temps significantly- she seems to be fattening up just a little. There might be hope for this gal yet if I can push her a few more weeks... Plant B- is looking better than ever! Mostly clear trichchomes still with just a few orange hairs and really dense bud. She has always been the healthier of the two plants and it really shows coming through this recent cold spell. It didn’t slow her down all that much and she’s absolutely gorgeous! I still don’t feel that Plant B is quite ready for the Advanced Nutrients Overdrive yet as she’s still building bud daily with only a handful of cloudy trichs. If everything stays on track for the next few weeks, I wouldn’t be surprised if Plant B easily makes it to the 90-100 day harvest window. Water and nutes- I’m still watering every 3rd day using 1 gallon/4 litres per plant per feed. The water is air bubbled for 3 days and brought up to just below room temperature prior to use. I’m still feeding at a rate of- Base nutes parts A&B 8mls of each per gallon, CalMag 4mls/gallon and the Overdrive for plant A only 5mls/gallon. That’s the update for week 10, it’s day 70 and according to Dutch Passion these ladies should be almost ready to harvest. So I figure anything from this point on is a bonus! Hopefully more time means bigger buds/more weight and a better harvest than I had originally hoped for. Thx for reading, happy growing and I’ll check in again next week. Momgrowsthechronic So it’s day 77 and the end of week 11 for these lovely ladies. I’m still unhappy with the bud development of Plant A and although Plant B looks better- she’s not what she could be either. I’ve been researching the various causes of light, airy, underdeveloped bud and I’ve come up with 3 main concerns. Temperatures- too high/too low, Light- too little/too much or Nutrients- usually not enough/occasionally too much. I’ve brought my temps up from the low 70’s to an acceptable average of 78 most days. I’ve added in the extra blurple to help with raising those temps and as a bonus, it’s increased the light to the plants as well. The only other thing I can factor in at this time is the nutes? So, I’ve upped them to 12 mls/gallon as a last minute effort to try and fatten these buds up! Unfortunately the Calcium deficiency that showed up a few weeks ago has ruined many of the larger leaves at the top of both plants. It has stopped progressing down the plants and this coming week I’m going to remove the damaged foliage in preparation for harvest. Plant A- is what she is... she’s tolerating the increase in nutes but she’s just not thickening up the way she should have. She’s not really pushing new calayxes, all cloudy trichs and mostly orange hairs are telling me that she’s almost done now. I’m just waiting for the amber trichs to show up and I can begin the flush. Based on my last grow of this strain, I wouldn’t be surprised if I see some amber by the end of next week. Unfortunately Plant A is a big disappointment so far :( I’m not quite sure what happened/went wrong and if there is anything I could have done differently? Plant B- is finally ready for the AN Overdrive! The trichomes are about 50/50 cloudy/clear, 25% of her hairs have gone orange and she’s slowing down a bit on the bud building. I’m hoping that the Overdrive will push this plant the extra mile and fatten her buds up a little more. Plant B has done exceptionally well considering what these ladies have been through with the recent cold snap here. She’s not quite as heavy with bud as she could have been but the quality of her buds is pretty close to what I had hoped for! Water and Nutrients- 1 gallon each plant every 3rd day, this past week- base nutes parts A&B at 12 mls/gallon, Overdrive at 5 mls/gallon and the CalMag at 5 mls/gallon. Since the increase in nutes is not helping to fatten up the buds on Plant A, I will be tapering off on her food from 12 mls to 10, 8, 6, 4 mls etc. in preparation to the flush with simple PH’d, air bubbled water. I will keep Plant B at the full dose of nutes (12 mls) for now as she’s doing great! Thanks for checkin out my grow and see y’all at the end of next week! Happy growing everyone, everywhere! 🙏

Momgrowsthechronic End of week 12, day #84 and the girls are on cruise control at this point. Temperatures/humidity are stable and I only have to open the tent every third day to water/feed the plants. My tent has windows in the front doors so I am able to check in on them daily but if all is well- there’s not much to do besides watch and wait! Plant A- is a right off at this point! Her buds are still light/airy/underdeveloped and she seems to be going down hill. The Calcium deficiency really ravaged this plant and only the bottom half of her foliage remains green. She’s not building any new bud/thickening up at all and I also discovered the first few amber trichs on day 84. She’s just taking up valuable space in the garden at this point so I’ve begun the flush! Possible harvest by the end of next week depending on how fast Plant A ambers up. I’m looking for more of a “couch lock", narcotic type of high this harvest as I find this strain to be quite energetic and uplifting. I’m hoping that more amber will mean more of a nighttime/end of day type of smoke. Plant B- is responding really well to the AN Overdrive! She continues to put on weight and I feel that she is a solid representation of Dutch Passion’s incredibly strong genetics. She is still 50/50 cloudy/clear trichomes, approx 25% orange hairs and no real signs of slowing down anytime soon! I’m pretty sure that Plant B is going to make the 100 day mark and she’s on track to be an absolute beauty/beast! Hopefully high quality smoke and a heavy yielder too... Water and nutrients- I am still watering every third day with 1 gallon/4 litres per plant. As far as nutes go, this past week Plant A was being weaned down off the feed in preparation for harvest. She was back down to 8mls/gallon but now, we’re straight into the flush! So, moving forward it’s air bubbled, PH’d tap water for this gal for 7-14 days depending on how fast she ambers. Plant B is still being fed at a rate of 12 mls (base nutes parts A&B) per gallon, CalMag 5 mls per gallon and the Overdrive 5 mls per gallon. Momgrowsthechronic And then there was one... harvest day for Plant A at the end of week 13 on day 91. She was ambering out much faster than I expected with rapidly deteriorating trichome stocks/heads so I made the call to chop. She had been flushed for 7 days prior with air bubbled, PH’d tap water daily. I simply pour anywhere from half to one full gallon of water through the plant everyday for a period of 7-14 days. Enough water each time so that a little bit drains out the bottom of the pot into the tray beneath. This lady only made it through one week of flush and she seemed ready to go! I am unhappy with Plant A as her buds are small and underdeveloped yet the bud that is there is covered in golden resin! The yield is disappointing as well weighing in at 374 grams wet. I usually lose about 80% once fully dried/cured so I’ll be lucky if I end up with 70-80 grams dry/finished product. I was able to scrape off .63 of a gram of golden, soft scissor hash and the buds smell sweet, flowery, fruity and somewhat gassy/diesel like too. All in all, a disappointing harvest for Plant A but a harvest none the less... ***UPDATE-Plant A yielded 93 grams dry. It moves into the cure now for 6-8 weeks and we’ll see what it’s true, final weight is once done.*** Plant B will continue on in the tent alone for another week or two but I am starting to flush her in preparation for harvest. Her trichomes are still 50/50 cloudy/clear with a slight golden hue and no amber as of yet. I’d already cut her back this past week to just 4 mls of base nutes- parts A & B and the Overdrive yet she has put on more weight and a few of her branches have fallen over sideways. So, I’ve tied these branches off to the main/centre stem and hopefully it’s enough to support this plant through to harvest. Something strange is happening with the main cola and a few of the large apex bud tops. I have included some pictures above to demonstrate what I’m talking about- it’s like a surge of new/weird bud growth with fresh, all white pistols. It looks like foxtailing again but the temps are no where near high enough in the tent to cause this. Any thought/ideas on this strange new growth would be greatly appreciated, thank you. Overall, Plant B is the star of this show and is steadily creeping towards my personal 100 day goal. I continue to be amazed by what a super auto can achieve! Momgrowsthechronic First off, a shout out to Grow Diaries and the GD community- thanks for a cool place to show off our grows and thanks to all my fellow growers that helped out along the way! The Strain- Auto Ultimate by Dutch Passion: this strain grows strong and steady from the very beginning producing medium to large plants. My plants experienced their flowering stretch from weeks 5-8 ending up at around 40-45 inches tall. I found this strain to be quite tolerant/resilient to the minor deficiencies common to indoor growing. I will note however that this strain seems to need a constant supplement of CalMag from about week 3 through to harvest to maintain healthy, green plants. I tweeked an easy feed nutrient schedule that I found online and fed these plants from day 10 through until flush- no mid grow flush. The Auto Ultimate is quite happy with about half the nutes (maxing out at about 8-10 mls/gallon) that you would feed a photo period plant and can easily tolerate being fed every second to third day with no worries of nutrient burn. This strain takes a little longer to mature than some of the other Autoflower varieties but it is well worth the wait as harvest will reward you with quality and quantity. This is a "must have" strain for newbies to indoor growing like myself as it consistently produces high quality herb with great yields and it’s fairly easy to grow! So, it’s the end of the road for this grow as Plant B was harvested on day #98 at the end of week 14. She had been flushed for 1 week, her trichs were almost all cloudy and most of her pistols were orange and receding back into the calayxes- aka: the pineapple/pinecone effect. I am confident that this gal had reached her peak potentcy and I needed the space for my next grow so I decided to chop. This lovely lady took 5-6 hours to fully manicure and produced an astonishing 732 grams of wet bud (hopefully 140-150 grams dry!) I will update in a few days with the official dry weight but I’m pretty sure she’s given me over a quarter pound of dense, mid-high quality herb with gorgeous bag appeal. Between both plants A & B, these Auto Ultimates have produced around a half pound in 3.5 months and I am really happy with these results! ***UPDATE ON FINAL DRY/PRE CURE WEIGHT- is 169 grams from Plant B for a total of 262 grams from both plants A & B.*** FYI: pics of harvest for plant A are found in week 13 for anyone interested. Super autos such as these are definitely the way to go if you are after maximum bang for ur buck and I look forward to growing this strain again and again. Although I had a few minor issues throughout this grow, it turned out to be a great learning experience with a successful harvest!
