I'm REALLY excited to share this cross with you guys!
This is my very first time making my own seeds.
I used a BobBitchen Chernobyl S1 female, and an Archive Seed Bank Slurricane F1 male. The Chernobyl used I had flowered out a couple times, very nice fresh lime/cucumber/tennis ball vibe. SUPER frosty, low yield size. The Slurricane male was only used to pollinate a single run, so the outcome of these seeds are a potential mystery, although I trust Archive enough as a breeder for it to still be a stable enough plant to use.
So, take a ride with me and let's see what these plants do!! Stay tuned for my future "SLURRICANE F2" run!!
An easy week, just waiting for the leaves to get big enough to cut a sample for sex testing. I was able to get 5 out of 6 seeds to pop. Ignore the PBB flag, that seed damped off anyway LOL
After test results, we only have one female. Bummer. I'm hoping for 3-4, I'd even settle for two. But with only one female, there's no way to compare phenotypes.
Time to drop a couple more seeds
Alright alright alright!!! We have three total females, that's good enough for me. Let's rock & roll!. Also increased the feed from "seedling" to a standard veg formula.
FLIPPITY DOO DAH!! I decided to flip them into flower a little sooner than I initially planned. All good. They're responding very well. I'll continue to give them "Grow" food until next week then switch to "Bloom" mix.
Week two flower. Nothing crazy happening, except the older plant is getting huge and is just now starting to show flower tips. The two smaller plants, nothing yet and don't even really look like they're stretching.
The largest plant is absolutely zooming into flower. The two smaller plants are slow to catch up. Just the slightest lime-cucumber kind of freshness to the trimmed off flowers.
Everything is going well. No intersex traits on any of the plants. The two small ones are still further behind in flower than I'd like, but the shortest one is catching up quickly.
The largest plant has a really nice lime fwd smell to it.
Things are developing nicely, but I still wish the two smaller plants were closer in bloom to the largest plant.
It really goes to show you what a proper veg time can do for your plants in flower 👍
The largest plant is PERFECTLY exhibiting the traits I was looking for in this cross. ... Leans mostly Chernobyl, but has the heavy flower stacking of the Chernobyl 👌 has an amazing cucumber Sprite type smell to it
The medium sized plant has a really weird metallic mushroom smell to it. The smallest plant has a sort of breakfast sausage sage-y vibe to it.
The two small plants REALLY stacked up this week. The big girl is pretty much just ripening, the flowers are super heavy and dense.
I fully dropped the cal mag, and will only add it back if anything exhibits that it needs it. So far so good 👍
The largest plant is finally starting to show signs of ripening. I didn't want to risk a calcium deficiency with such heavy flowers, so I added 2.5ml/gal Cal Mag back into the nutrients. Reduced the Bloom as well.
The medium plant which was kind of "mushroomy" is starting to gain back some of the bright citrus. Maybe it was overfed for too long, not sure.
WOW-WEEEE! The very first seed dropped of this cross, is an absolute STUNNER. And, like an idiot, I didn't keep any cuts so we'll have to hunt for another keeper at some point.
Overall terpene profile is heavily Chernobyl with the tennis ball/lime citrus zing, but with the added heft and beauty of the Slurricane. Largest plant to date!! --9.1 oz on this single plant!! *I'm not even going to include the smallest two plants because I didn't even weigh them.
Flowering for the choice pheno went 72 days but probably could have pushed it to 77 days. Let's call her 10-11 weeks.
Overall smoke, after some cure time (about 25 days) FANTASTIC and SMOOTH, beautiful bag appeal. Taste isn't as prominent as the smell but IMO most lime strains don't come thru super bright like lemons and oranges do, so that's to be expected. Has this awesome tennis ball/spray glue adhesive vibe to it, not gassy at all. Has the slightest "funk" similar to the Slurricane. Very bright, very fragrant when you grind a nug.
High is spacey and stacks really well, not couch-lock unless you chain-smoke it, then it's lights-out for sure. GREAT day-smoke, but take breaks.
Harvest was a BREEZE, mostly because I didn't trim the small two plants, I just ground them up for dry sift & kept a couple wispy top buds.
The choice pheno though, OMG flower bulking turned out PERFECT. Not too rock-dense but not airy whatsoever, just beautifully clumped flowers 👌
I really can't speak much on the Athena Fade whether it helps or not, but as stated I like what it's aiming for, so I'll keep using it at the end of flower until i see a reason not to.
