Azospirillum Bacteria is a Gram negative motile bacteria belonging to the order Rhodospirillales, associated with roots of monocots, including important crops, such as wheat, corn and rice. Azospirillum contains 109/gm spores of Azospirillum species. This Azospirillum bacterium fixes the atmospheric nitrogen and makes it available to plants in non-symbiotic manner that can replace 50-90% of the nitrogen fertilizer required by plants.
