Grew out the seedlings in solo cups for ten days, keeping the light lower at about 250 PPFD 11” over canopy. Watered once, only on the edges of the cup to encourage root growth. Plants had plenty of healthy, visible roots during transplant.
Transplanted into 3 gallon pots with the same soil (CoM Stonington Blend). Added 10 g/gallon of grow dots for nutrition. Watered to runoff with water supplemented with cal mag and recharge. I experienced calcium deficiency in my first grow and read that for grows in coco, it’s good to supplement the first two weeks with some extra cal mag to try to cut off later deficiencies from the medium. I will feed with recharge weekly again, as that helped tremendously in my experience.
I plan on scroging more aggressively this grow, and will top the fifth node and use some LST following “LBH’s famous scrog” tutorial on growweedeasy.com. Since I’m using grow dots, I plan on flipping my lights in four weeks as that is when the nutrition composition changes to flowering mix. That should give me plenty of time for training and growing out some nice healthy plants.
