After a rough, although, successful 1st grow and harvest, and holiday season, we are on to our 2nd grow. This time around I'm just going to try and continue to improve as a gardener and improve the quality of my medicine. Last grow was a basic organic living soil technique. This time we are going with a super soil technique. The beans were germinated directly into their final grow bags (2-3 gallon and 4-5 gallon). We are growing 6 Green Crack, 2 West Coast OG (separate diary) and a Tangie'matic (probably won't do a diary b/c I don't think she will make it, she is stunted and way behind). I only had 1 bean of Tangie and was looking forward to harvesting her sweet buds but she just stopped growing and shriveled up a little. I just left her until she fell over. She never fell over and started growing again about a day ago. Go figure. She probably won't amount to much but since all I do from here on out is water, I'll probably she what she will do. Anyway, I had 100% germination within 96 hrs,. again, and they all look healthy. #4 and #5 both germinated with white leaf tips that died off and slowed their germination, although #5 is one of the most vigorous in growth. All of them have just shot out of the gate and I'm really looking forward to a crop of Green Crack. Thanks for tuning in everyone and happy growing. As always, keep all critique and criticism to yourself.... just kidding. All comments, questions and critiques ARE greatly appreciated. Peace. @ClubRiot @hashy @GrowGreen @cylentknight @davisgirl @Lowhelium @dalemac @HighTV @Dahoola @Tripaholic88

Started week 2 by over-watering everyone. #1 did not take it well at all and may still be feeling the effects. Her color hasn't returned and her leaves curled under, one split when I tried straightening it. But, she hasn't given up and I can see her starting to turn the corner. Other than that, they all look a healthy shade of green. Growth was stalled for a couple days but came back fast and furious gaining 2 inches and branching everywhere in the past 2 days. I may have got a good coco mixture on this grow. The girls seem happy and that makes me happy. Peace

Fast and furious buds! That is what week 3 has been like for a few (except the ones I hurt) of these Green Crack and I couldn't be happier. #1 seems to have stopped growing. The overwatering may have done her in. The pH may have gotten outta whack and killed the bacteria or the roots or both. Probably a combination of things. Anyway, I started a couple new seeds to put in a couple hempy buckets I'm going to give a try. I'll let #1 go until I need the space. #4 is recovering slowly. It also looks like I may have lowered the light a lil' too much because there is some canoeing and saw-toothing going on. I raised the light back up and I am going to let the plants grow to the light for now. #6 is showing signs of light stress too. #2, #3 and #5 are all looking awesome. #2 and #3 are 14 inches plus, doubling in size in the past 6 days. Thanks for tuning in and turning on everyone, questions and comments are always welcome and greatly appreciated. Peace and happy gardening. @cylentknight @cabinriver @Tripaholic88 @Dahoola @HighTV @Lowhelium @davisgirl @GrowGreen @hashy @ClubRiot @BlazinMomma @Momgrowsthechronic

Wow! What a difference a week makes with @FastBuds. Day 28 and the super soil seems to be living up to it's name. Hopefully it will hold out until the end without any top dressing. Growth has been explosive and it seems everyone has doubled in size. Last time I really measured, or notated, was on the 18th at 4 to 8 inches. This week the range is 18 to 27 inches. All have shown to be female except GC#3 and Tangie, nothing yet. And none have started flowering. Color is gorgeous and no signs of deficiency. I had to raise the light because they are growing so fast they were showing signs (taco and saw-toothed) of heat stress. I think I may need all 8' 6" of ceiling height for this grow. Right now the light is about 42 inches from the kolas and 46 or so from the canopy. Everybody is getting fed 1/2 gallon RO water with a little CalMag (4ml), brown sugar (1/2 tsp) and Epsom salt (1/2 tsp)/ gallon every other day. GC #3 is an impressive looking plant. Her structure is solid and symmetrical and has started putting out some 9 fingered leaves (#5 has too) but hasn't shown any signs of sex. GC #1 and #4 have pretty much been cast to the side and replaced by a couple seedlings going into hempy buckets (separate diary). I haven't been doing a whole lot with them because they basically stopped growing. I topped #1 after the 4th node just to see if anything would happen and what do ya know, she started growing a couple new tops... LOL. And #4 started back again too. But they are getting in the way and I will be removing them once I know the hempy's are going to make it going forward, couple more days. Anyway, that's about it for this week, looking forward to the next couple weeks, should be busy with the start of flowering and figuring out how I'm gonna handle this grow, it is getting large. Thanks for tuning in and turning on. All questions or comments are welcome. Peace

Wow! What a week, they've almost doubled in height again. I hope they are done, somehow I doubt it though. #2 and 5 have started flower, waiting for #3 and 6. GC #2 is 47 inches, #3 and 5 are 39 inches and #6 comes in at 31 inches. I raised my light as high as it will go (6' 9" from the floor) and it is about 28 inches from the top of #2s Kola. The only way to go higher is if I redo all the rigging for the light. I would be more inclined to super crop before I go through all that in the middle of a grow. Needless to say, they are all doing great. They are drinking 64 oz of H2O per day and I'm going to increase that to 96 next week. It's about to get exciting with the start of flowering. Thanks for tuning in everyone and feel free to comment. Peace

Green Crack; #2 in a 5 gallon bag is 64 inches, #3 in a 5 gallon bag is 51 inches, #5 and #6 in 3 gallon bags are 54 and 46 inches, respectively. End week 6 Day 42 Light: 20/ 4 cycle with 675w Perfect Sun COB and just added 4 AutoCobs (3500k, 60w each) to the mix (currently: approx. 18 inches from Kolas and 24 inches from canopy). Medium: Coco 80%, perlite 20% mixed with Nature's Living Soil concentrate (top 2/3, 1 lb/ 5 gallons medium; bottom 1/3, 1+1/2 lb/ 3 gallons medium). Feed: 1/2 gallon RO water with 4ml CaMg+, 1/2-1 tsp brown sugar and 1/2-1 tsp Epsom salt/ gallon/ day, temperature 66-73 F, pH 6.2-7.0. Room Temperature: 72-78 F Leaf surface Temperature: 68-82 F (always below 85 F). RH: 45-60% CO2: Lights On: 800-1200, Lights Out: 350-450 Holy Skyscrapers Batman! #2 just won't quit growing! She has been on a 3-4 inch/ day growth spurt since the beginning of the month (2/1) and when I started measuring every day. I'm afraid she has grown to close to the light, although, she is growing off to the side of the light. I can get another 5 inches or so if I change the light rigging, but I need them to stop stretching before I decide. Hell, #3 hasn't even started flowering yet but I think she is close. IMO, I think she will be the beast among the GC, her structure, size, color and 9 fingered leaves make her stand out from the rest. #2's height is impressive. I'm not sure why the whole garden has gotten so big. I'm sure it's a combination of factors. My first garden was malnourished from the beginning compared to this run (look at my 1st diary week to week and there is no comparison). They were under fed, nutes and water. Too much light by getting to close to soon. Not knowing any signs of stress or deficiency I can only go by what I observe and read. I was lucky to have a harvest last time. I harvested 4 plants out of 9 attempts. Not to good. I started with 2 FastBuds GC, 2 FastBuds WCOG and a SensibleSeeds OGK. They all died within the 1st five days except a WCOG. Not wanting to waste anymore FastBuds until I learned to grow from seed to harvest I reworked my medium. I added perlite and more living soil concentrate and put 2 seeds directly in the mix without a buffer just like you would sow a seed in your outside garden and I put 2 in a nutrient depleted ball of coco that was placed in the living soil. Only one of the latter survived (I'll never germinate that way again). So, now I know why only one of the first five survived. Also, during the first grow I was obsessed with getting the light as low as possible as fast as possible. I think I may have stunted the plants and actually caused them to stop growing at times. I say this only because of the research and info I read after I harvested and before this grow. And I think I under watered the garden, not wanting to over water I was overly cautious. Not knowing how to grow with coco I treated it like soil and you can't do that. I waited for the pot to get light before watering. If you do that with coco you waited too long. The bag or pot should feel heavy, just don't over do it like I did. There is a balance you can only learn by observing your plants. And by waiting to long to feed the plants were obviously deprived and could have been better. This is still the hardest thing for me. How much water do they need per day. That's one reason I'm trying the Hempy Buckets. I like the idea of being able to measure how much water the plant takes in each day by feeding them the same amount every day and measuring the runoff. eg. 1 gallon in. 3/4 gallon out. Plant took in 1/4 of a gallon. I put in 1/2 gallon a day right now and getting a little over a quart back (check out my OGKushAutomatics diary). This grow, 9 of 9 germinated and all survived until week 2 and I decided to overwater everyone and basically kill 2 of my GC. They eventually started growing again but it was to late and I had started my Hempy Buckets and replaced their space and pulled them from the grow room. Regardless of my mistake, the garden continued to grow and overflow the boundaries of the light and I was getting worried about loss of yield due to poor lighting on the edges. BTW, my grow room is 8'x8'x8'6" and my light is good for 5x5 veg and 4x4 flower realistically. And she was starting to push the 5' barrier. Well, we couldn't really afford it just yet but the wife gave me the okay to purchase some more lighting (the plan was to expand when I built the room anyway, just not this soon) so I ordered some AutoCobs to supplement my current light and actually test them as stand alone 60w COBs. I have seen some growers get amazing results with these lights. I'm using single COBs over each Hempy bucket, Tangie'matic and one combined with my current light. Everyone is happy now. BUT, my biggest issue now is height. I'm running out. I don't really want to super crop any of them but I will if I have to. So, I'm sure the way I used my light this grow had something to do with how tall these plants are (considering my first grow max height was about 29 inches for the OGK and 15 inches for WCOG). This grow I decided to be more aggressive with the watering and see how hard I could push it. I learned quick, you can over water coco, be careful. I let'em dry out a couple days and all but 2 rebounded quickly. I thought maybe I had stunted them for the rest of the grow. I was completely wrong and soon they were at a quart a day then 2 quarts. Last couple days, I'm at 3 to 4 quarts a day. I'm pushing 'em a little bit going into flower because I want them at max capacity (I think it's 3 quarts, 4 may be too much) so they can produce as many bud sites and as much flower as possible. Obviously, a more aggressive water schedule has made a big difference too. Now the biggest difference, imo, may be the Supersoil and living soil mix I used this time. Last grow I did a basic living soil mixture. This grow I used the living soil mix (which had been mixed and cooking in a tote for about 3 months before use) with a super soil mix (that was mixed 7 - 10 days prior to being placed in the bottom 1/3 of each grow bag) and the results speak for themselves. Size, structure, color are all phenomenal. No tip burn or deficiencies that I have noticed. I may have hit it out of the park with this mix, not sure, but I like the results so far. Question is, does it have enough to bring it all home? We'll see in about 5 or 6 weeks. What do y'all think? Thanks for tuning in everyone. All questions or comments are greatly appreciated. Peace 2/15 **UPDATE** GC#2 gained another 3 inches to 69 inches. I installed new rigging for the light fixture and gained 6 more inches. Maximum height for the light is now 7 foot 3 inches. It is now 18 to 24 inches from the Kolas and 24 to 30 inches above the canopy. Just about perfect if they would stop stretching. Peace

It has been a busy week in the garden. I went ahead and supercropped #2 after she hit the 71 inch mark. She got lowered by about 16 inches and she now stands at 56 inches at her highest point. It didn't seem to slow her down at all because she was reaching for the light within a few hours. I learned something new. Anyway, all the GC are in full flower. The buds are poppin' and the frost is already starting to build. #2 tops out at 56 inches, #3 at 63 inches, #5 at 62 and #6 brings up the rear at 55 inches. Thanks for stopping by and hit me up with any questions. Peace

All the Green Crack have stopped growing and are now in full flower mode. GC3 has topped out at 67 inches (and may even creep up another inch or so today), 5 feet 7 inches! GC2 has healed well from the supercrop and is putting on some buddage and frost... hee hee hee. They are all getting between 64 and 128 oz of H2O, supplemented with 4 ml CalMag+ some Epsom salt and brown sugar, depending on the weight and observed growth. I have been leaning on the heavy pot weight this grow and I think it is paying off.. except in the 2nd week when I over did it and lost 2 girls in the process. Valuable lessons learned but ones I had to figure out the hard way. Just look at all that frosty goodness... hee hee hee. Man, I can't wait to try this stuff. I hope it's as good as the name. and story behind that name, suggests. I squeezed one of the lower hanging fruits and it smelled like an orange. YUM! Thanks for tuning in and please leave a "like" or comment on your way out. Peace

Week 9, day 63 and I have to confess, I am addicted to growing Crack, Green Crack that is...…… Man, this stuff is amazing to look at, I can't wait to try it. They are all starting to yellow out, so, I am going to just give 'em straight H2O until harvest. Not sure how much longer. #2 and 5 will probably be first, a week to 10 days probably. #6, two weeks? #3 is yellowing out but it's buds are all pistils. She has only been flowering for 2 weeks, so, she may go another 4 weeks if her leaves hold out. We'll see. I'll be checking the trichomes often this week. Earlier samples show mostly cloudy. Thanks for stopping by and tuning in. Peace

A few GC are getting close to harvest. GC #3 is a different pheno than the other 3 and has abundant pistils and airy buds. I don't think she will produce much of any thing. GC2 is showing a few amber trichs so she will be pulled this weekend. Maybe another week for GC5 and 6. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the diary. Peace y'all

It is harvest week for 3 of 4. #2 was first to get pulled on day 74. She spent about 72 hrs in the dark before she got chopped on day 77. #5 and 6 got pulled on day 76 and are currently in the dark and will get chopped on day 79. More pictures next update . GC#3 is a whole different story though. First of all she is a different pheno and she flowered late. She is fading fast and her buds are all pistils, thin and wispy. Her trichomes are small and not very numerous. I am not expecting much from her. Not sure what's going on with this one. Thanks for turning on and tuning in. Peace

This is an amazing strain of cannabis. It is very hardy and easy to grow. One plant reached 70 inches and had to be super-cropped and she didn't miss a beat. Three of 4 plants were the same phenotype. The second pheno was the largest yielder, although her trichomes were not as developed nor as numerous. She still smokes well and has a good high. I think this strain would do best under a 18/ 6 light cycle. I did 20/ 4 and they seemed to droop more often than the other strains in the room. Highly recommended.

Green crack lives up to its name, she has the most amazing taste, unlike anything I've ever tasted before, smooth and fruity is all I can say because I just can't pin-point it. Maybe more of a cure will unlock it. It has been in the jars since 3/25-GC#2 (87 grams), 3/27-GC#5 & #6 (115 grams) and 3/31-#3 (112 grams). The smell is even harder for me to place, because I have a terrible sense of smell, but I get a sweet woody scent. Green Crack is in a class all its own, unlike anything I've had before. I'm sure that will change as I grow different strains. I would highly recommend growing this strain, it is such a beautiful plant and it is very potent. It is my go to medicine during the day. I can wake and bake and keep going all morning until an afternoon pick me up that will take me through the day until it's time to relax with some West Coast OG. Loving the Green Crack. Thanks for tuning in and turning on. All comments and questions are welcome. Peace y'all000

@@cylentknight, appreciate it bro. Sending positive grow vibes for the zkittlez, be sure to tag me. I have just started to really enjoy the fruits of my 1st harvest after about 3 weeks of curing "getting better all the time, better, better, better...." Anyway, I just put a couple more beans, OG Kush Autos, in some rockwool plugs today. I am going to try and do a couple Hempy Buckets with MegaCrop and see how that works. I'll give you a tag when it's up and running. If I did everything right with the seeds it won't be long. But, if I screw up germination it may take a couple try's. Don't worry too much about when they start to flower. At least yet... I'm currently running 8 diaries of Fast Bud genetics. I still have a pineapple express that is only preflowering after 53 days. Both of my Stardawgs didn't flower until after 49 days. With that said, autoflowers have been a mixed bag for me. I once had a Northern Lights auto that only grew an inch in 30 days and never flowered. Sometimes they're tall and sometimes they're short. There's a lot of randomness in what you get. Almost reminds me of collecting baseball cards. Never knew what you were going to get. All your girls look healthy!l Happy gardening. Peace!

@Smowkabowl, No worries bud! I use the pre-flower term when a photoperiod plant is in late veg and starting to show clues of it's sex. The stretch sounds better. My apologies for the misunderstanding. Peace!
Smowkabowl
Smowkabowlcommented6 years ago
@Sgtoso, yeah, probably not a good word (pre-flower) to use. I'm not sure where I read or picked up that term. We'll just call it "The Stretch". Hopefully, they're just about done stretching and will settle in to bud production. All the 44 day plants are now flowering 😀. I put up new rigging yesterday and gained another 6 inches in height. I would have lowered the light sooner but every time I did I had to back it off due to stress or what I perceived as stress (canoeing and saw-tooth). They are doing better and I'll have to do a supercrop on the 69 incher. I have been reading up on the process. Peace bro

Sgtosocommented6 years ago
@Smowkabowl, You're plants might be stretching too much because they're too far from the top canopy. I've never heard of pre-flower stretch. My photoperiods stretch during the first couple of weeks of flower. I think you'll be ok with autos as they'll stop stretching once they get closer to the light. Peace

@Sgtoso, dude, I took some cuttings a few days ago so I could check the trichomes under the microscope. I put the tray in the closet and forgot about it until I took more cuttings and the previous cuttings were dry. I tried the Green Crack 1st! For early testing it had a good cerebral buzz and the taste is unlike anything I've ever tasted and can't really describe it. It will be interesting to see how it evolves with a proper cure. The smell is sweet, lemony and a little diesel maybe, very nice overall. Oh and after breaking up the bud my fingers had a fresh orange peel smell... like heaven. I'm already addicted! Peace bro

@Smowkabowl, i tried it a few months ago and it was beautiful! Fruity flavour with a nice balanced high. The buds themselves were quite large and super dense. Gorgeous to look at and to smoke. I’ve always loved Snoop Dog! He’s old school and picked the perfect name for this strain.

@Momgrowsthechronic, appreciate it Mom. I'm really looking forward to the GC myself, it sounds like my dream plant. I hope it taste as good as, Snoop Dog said, when he named it. Peace

Nice diary, good photos and really interesting supercropping an auto. Accidentally broke off the main stem on one of my autos but the rest of the stems just charged ahead!

I just saw the week 11 cover photo and that was enough to know that this is one sick grow dude. The pic is gorgeous, the fade on the plant is dreamy and I bet the rest of this diary is straight dope. I’ll catch up when I can. Just awesome dude👍👌💪😎😳

Appreciate it @Momgrowsthechronic. It may have been the way I used the light this grow, even the West Coast OG got to be 48 and 50 inches. We'll see what happens next time. I just got some FastBuds Zkittles and Lemon AK. Oh, and I got more WCOG and Tangie autos and they sent some RQS Royal Cookies autos as freebies. 😝 I think I'm set for the next year. Peace

@Sgtoso, Thanks bro. LOL>>> I have been sampling it for a week or so now. I can't wait to try it cured. It is incredible so far. Taste like nothing I've ever tasted before and the high is strong and long lasting. Peace

Nicely done. I've never super cropped an auto.

@Sgtoso, neither have I but everything I read said they would be fine and she was and is. I figured the worst that could happen is I lose the Cola, either way. Peace

What's the plan if they keep getting closer to the light?
Smowkabowl
Smowkabowlcommented6 years ago
@cabinriver, hey man, I enacted the plan earlier this week when she went to 71 inches and I supercropped her at 56 inches. I probably should have went a little lower but I'm a newb and still learning every day. I'll be doing an update later today or tomorrow. Peace
