Week 4 - Growth continues, color is good, LST, increase in light intensity and EC all tolerated well. Branches are beginning to develop. Humidity was slightly high last week will work on lowering, not too concerned at the moment as plants are still young.ย Very pleased no deficiencies noted with good growth, expect explosive growth this week!
Plan for the week.
1. LST adjustments and supports to spread out canopy and break apical dominance
2. Slowly increase EC (both strains can handle high feeds)
3. Increase light dimming (Veg 35-40cm/60-90%)
4. Watch for signs of pre-flowering (more likely next week)
5. Lower humidity
7-9-2024 Day 22. PH 6.01, EC 1270. 1L volume with good run-off. LST adjusted, light height 40cm, increased dimming to ~72%. Exhaust fan added and set to ~25%.
8-9-2024 Day 23. PH 5.9, EC 1270 with 1L volume to both plants. PH 6.01, EC 1310 with 1L to both plants. Run-off great. 25.6C, 66% averages over the last 24 hours, better humidity control with exhaust fan in tent and dehumidifer running in room. Dimming set to ~76%. Both plants are developing mutiple branches, LST adjusted.
9-9-2024 Day 24. PH 6.01, EC 1340, 1.5L vol both plants, great run-off. Light checked 40cm, increase dimming to 80%. Plants appear to be tolerating the slow increase in lighting and EC. Will increase EC, and end of week/next week increase lighting again. LST adjusted, leaf tucking and additional support applied, plants are developing branches that are then LST'ed. Color and growth look good with each day building on the last. Lots of improvement since the beginning of the week!
10-9-2024 Day 25. PH 6.05, EC 1400, 1.5L vol, good run-off. No changes to lighting, will verify height tomorrow. LST adjusted and more branches tied down. Plants rotated with main branches facing toward center of tent. 26.5C, 65% average over the last 24 hours, temps/humidity consistant. 3 small leaves that were shaded and touching the coco were removed from BD, this is the first bit of trimming for either plant.
11-9-2024 Day 26. PH 5.93, EC 1440, 2L vol, good run-off. No changes to lighting 40cm/80% dimming. 26.3C, 63%. Both plants showing good daily growth requiring LST adjustments and leaf tucking. Sour Diesel developing nicely loving her structure, very easy to work with; Blue Dream is crazy bushy reminding me of my Strawberry Gorilla grow from 2023, this one will have lots of branches.
12-9-2024 Day 27. PH 6.02, EC 1480, 2L vol, great run-off. Lighting height raised to 40cm/80% dimming. 25.8C 65%. ****Sour Diesel self-topped above the 5th node if I am counting correctly; and one large fan leaf was removed. My LST was too aggressive, will be more gentle, good learning experience! Was thinking of topping these plants, but with only two plants I was concerned about stunting. This does not appear to be a problem for Sour Diesel at the moment, she just keeps on rolling! Not concerned. Removed a few leaves from BD that were either touching the coco or were simply completly shaded with no hope of seeing the light...
19-9-2024 Day 28. PH 6.0, EC 1480, 1.5L vol with good run-off. LST adjusted and loads of leaf tucking. SD appears to have tolerated topping well, growth is amazing! Removed a few leaves off each and one of the first node branches from SD that was completly shaded and had chance to see the light.
Week 4 is complete. Lots of growth as anticipated (day 22 vs day 28), no signs of pre-flower this week, no deficiencies noted. Sour Diesel was topped accidently ~ day 27 and is not slowing down, shape looks great with mutiple branches developing, she is 18cm tall at her high point. Blue Dream is a monster just stacking nodes all week and is 16cm tall (both have grown fairly horizontal so height is taller).
Plan for week 5
1. Will continue to spead out and leaf tuck
2. Defoliation as needed
3. Watch for pre-flower
4. Consider supporting SD branches where she was topped as branches get heavy - (ScrOG)
Beautiful looking plants!๐๐๐ฝ They looks super healthy and the growth rate is perfect!
Was looking at your dairy since day one, love your detailed explanation!
We share similar grow style๐ฝ
Was wondering how do you like the dualpart series form terra aquatica?, I use their tripart for some time now.. Wondering if it'll be easier to use the 2 part one
Good luck and have fun growing brother ๐ฑ
@1_Plant_Wonder,
Thanks again for your kind works of support, much appreciated as a new grower. These two have been an amazing experice to date!
I have used both the tri-part and dual part coco now on two grows; The 3 vs 2 bottles does simplify the process and I am likely to purchase the dual part coco again when these bottles run out. With my water and autos I run ~40% strength nutrients at ~1200 EC using the dual part coco.
I had also considered the Canna line as they are also a two bottle setup and there are some examples of sucessful plants with Canna.
Been following along with your Purple Punch as it is on the list to grow in the near future...
Take care and enjoy the journey! ๐
@SwissKush,
I am hoping for some face melting! ๐ต๐ Thanks for the feedback, I still cannot believe they are mine! They smell great.....getting closer.
Plants looking fantastic!๐๐ฝ
Once most trichomes becomes cloudy, it won't be long before the amber starts to appear, and then flushing, so if you think you're a week /week and a half before that stage, start with final part;)
(Usually terra recommend 10 days of final part before flushing, but with autos everything is faster, so a good week of final part will do to my opinion)
But MY question is, would you continue using Calmag along with finalpart? Or not..? That I truly don't know๐
Good luck! ๐
@1_Plant_Wonder,
I think the Sour Diesel is ~2wks from finishing based on other diaries with coco/ hydro/similar size. I was thinking FinalPart for 12 days and then 2 day FlashClean followed by ~ 2 days of water flush to run-off EC the # escapes me, but based on cocoforcannibas recommendations.
Good question on the CalMag and FinalPart. Both plants have minor rust spots. TA on the Coco formulas suggest no additional CalMag is needed, and I think FinalPart would be the same. My experience is even buffered coco with a specific coco fertilizer formula still needs CalMag added to any water you use to dilute to get your EC. Now with FinalPart you are basically just feeding bloom nutrients. Would not adding CalMag block some other needed micro nutrient during the final 2 weeks of flower? I don't know, but someone on the forum would perhaps. For now since there is already some signs I was planning to add it to the next feritgation with any water used to dilute to EC. I was thinking I could always fade it over the next week or so.
There are a few trichome pictures of SD at end of week 10. Mostly cloudy and some clear. I will grab some more photos with the USB microscope camera tomorrow. It is a challenge to get good photos..
@Hix57,
Thank you for your kind words. I did not realize how large she was until I removed her tent mate! I need to invite my buddy over to help with the trimming.
