Week 7 is off to a good start, great growth last week, height ~ 50/54 cm, color improved, and no issues noted. LST started on SD to help even out the canopy was successful. Light defoliation on each last week. Fertigation x2 daily as volumes increased, hope to change to once a day when volumes slow.
Plan for the week
1. Continue to lightly defoliate as needed to expose branches or increase air flow
2. Check light height daily, temp probe and fans
3. Consider flower schedule ~ day 46 or once stretch is complete (this week?)
4. Consider ScrOG net
5. Consider defoliation after stretch
28-9-2024 Day 43. PH 5.98/6.1 , EC 1250/1080, 2.5/2L with good run-off. Removed a few fan leaves off both. Raised light to 34cm/90%.
29-9-2024 Day 44. PH 6.08/6.09, EC 1140/1100 , 2.5/2L with good run-off. Noted slight burn tips on new growth with SD, reduced ~EC1100. Removed a few fan leaves from SD and several branches/fans from BD. Raised light to 34cm, raised fan and temp probe. Growth is impressive, defoliated several secondary branches/fans from BD, and a few fan leaves from SD. Gotta give BD a rest from defoliation for a few days, she is just thick.
30-9-2024 Day 45. PH 6.12/6.01, EC 1160/1130, 2.5/2L with good run-off. Raised light 34cm, and fan. No defoliation.
1-10-2024 Day 46. ****** FlashClean PH 6.03/6.06, EC */1120. 2.5L/2L with good run-off. Raised light 34cm, and fan. Defoliated several branches and fan leaves from SD. Started flower schedule PM.
2-10-2024 Day 47. PH 6.07/5.95 , EC 1080/1160 , 2.5/2L with good run-off. Raised light to 35cm. Took BD out of the tent for defolation, removing most of the large fan leaves blocking flower sites and to increase air flow. There are likely more leaves to be removed in the next few days, will let her recover for a couple days and make another assessment. SD will need a defolation session tonight/tomorrow of large fan leaves as well.
3-10-2024 Day 48. PH 6.03/6.07 , EC 1160/1140, 2.5/2L with good run-off. Raised light to 35cm/90%, will increase intensity and lower to ~30cm once the rapid growth slows. Took SD out of the tent for defolation, removing many large fan leaves blocking flower sites and to increase air flow. Will likely need a few leaves removed in next few days, will let her recover. Was much more selective on SD as she does not have many leaves. Will get a more accurate measurement tomorrow, but SD appears to be ~70cm, when will she stop growing? Both plants are robust and resilent.
4-10-2024 Day 49. PH 5.97/ EC 1150/ , 2/2L with good run-off. Raised light to 35cm/90% and raised temp probe. Removed a few leaves off BD that were shading flower sites. Height for each ~68 & 77cm respectively. Raised BD up so both are now even in height to the light.
Week 7 is complete, with amazing height increases, switching to flower schedule and significant defoliation on both. So impressed by these two strains, both appear to have tolerated the defoliation well. Hoping to move back to 1x daily fertigation schedule.
Plan for week 8
1. Verify light, temp and fan height daily
2. Defoliate lightly as needed
3. Monitor fertigation volumes - switch to x1 daily when/if demand slows
Beautiful looking plants!πππ½ They looks super healthy and the growth rate is perfect!
Was looking at your dairy since day one, love your detailed explanation!
We share similar grow styleπ½
Was wondering how do you like the dualpart series form terra aquatica?, I use their tripart for some time now.. Wondering if it'll be easier to use the 2 part one
Good luck and have fun growing brother π±
@1_Plant_Wonder,
Thanks again for your kind works of support, much appreciated as a new grower. These two have been an amazing experice to date!
I have used both the tri-part and dual part coco now on two grows; The 3 vs 2 bottles does simplify the process and I am likely to purchase the dual part coco again when these bottles run out. With my water and autos I run ~40% strength nutrients at ~1200 EC using the dual part coco.
I had also considered the Canna line as they are also a two bottle setup and there are some examples of sucessful plants with Canna.
Been following along with your Purple Punch as it is on the list to grow in the near future...
Take care and enjoy the journey! π
@SwissKush,
I am hoping for some face melting! π΅π Thanks for the feedback, I still cannot believe they are mine! They smell great.....getting closer.
Plants looking fantastic!ππ½
Once most trichomes becomes cloudy, it won't be long before the amber starts to appear, and then flushing, so if you think you're a week /week and a half before that stage, start with final part;)
(Usually terra recommend 10 days of final part before flushing, but with autos everything is faster, so a good week of final part will do to my opinion)
But MY question is, would you continue using Calmag along with finalpart? Or not..? That I truly don't knowπ
Good luck! π
@1_Plant_Wonder,
I think the Sour Diesel is ~2wks from finishing based on other diaries with coco/ hydro/similar size. I was thinking FinalPart for 12 days and then 2 day FlashClean followed by ~ 2 days of water flush to run-off EC the # escapes me, but based on cocoforcannibas recommendations.
Good question on the CalMag and FinalPart. Both plants have minor rust spots. TA on the Coco formulas suggest no additional CalMag is needed, and I think FinalPart would be the same. My experience is even buffered coco with a specific coco fertilizer formula still needs CalMag added to any water you use to dilute to get your EC. Now with FinalPart you are basically just feeding bloom nutrients. Would not adding CalMag block some other needed micro nutrient during the final 2 weeks of flower? I don't know, but someone on the forum would perhaps. For now since there is already some signs I was planning to add it to the next feritgation with any water used to dilute to EC. I was thinking I could always fade it over the next week or so.
There are a few trichome pictures of SD at end of week 10. Mostly cloudy and some clear. I will grab some more photos with the USB microscope camera tomorrow. It is a challenge to get good photos..
