So this is week 4 of my grow most of these are freebies while I'm waiting on my next order to come in. I just put these girls into 12/12 today. These Will be quick to finish. Having some problems with nutrient burn I believe. First time trying Coco Coir. Wish me luck!

Plants recovered great from the nutrient burn that I figured out was from Natures Nog. I cut that out and just gave the key nutrients to these girls and BOOM! They lushed up and took off. They are super green and super smelly for only being in week 5 of their life cycle. When I open my tent I get hit with pungent citrus and skunk aromas. They each have their own special qualities as well. The RQS Critical has huge beautiful leaves which makes me think it has possible Afghan genetics. The Pineapple Chunk actually has a very pungent citrus smell radiating from her leaves. Northern Soul is staying super short, yet super bushy with its Indica Dominate Genetics pushing through. The Purple Queen has some good spacing and very nice looking leaves. Purple Cheese is slowly growing, being on the 12/12 cycle is really keeping her growing slow which is okay because I started her late. All of these girls already have white hairs showing up. Super excited to see how well growing with Coco Coir can be for these ladies.

This week was incredible for stretching. All of these girls shot up and added a few good inches on them. I removed 2 fan leaves on each plant to help with the undergrowth. I've always been a big fan of removing much of the fan leaves, but on this grow being 12/12 mostly from seed I'm seeing how the removal of the least amount of fan leaves will change the growth pattern. I know most growers are against removal of leaves but I have had great success in weight from my previous grows when I removed most of the fan leaves during flower. Yet again I cut back my nutes, now I'm only using about 3 drops of each for a gallon of water and it seems to be about perfect. Go girls go!

What a great week! She doesn't look like shes jumped up too much or anything over the past week but that could be because I cant go a day without looking at my plants. they have really filled out, did some low stress training on them this week and they all did very well with almost in hours all the flowers were back pointed back at the light. Was pretty neat to watch. Nutrients still seem to be under control as well. They are very sour smelling. One very happy gardener.

This week has been very good! I got a new Led 300 watt light in the tent for the girls. They are soaking it up, they all had tremendous growth patterns after inducting the new light into the tent. I think they are possibly done stretching at this point and are focusing on packing straight weight. The very tops of these girls are lush and this with sticky trichomes and crowns of beautiful white hairs. I couldn't ask for a better week then this one was. I actually was able to water with nutrients twice this week, at full strength and not one of them showed any signs of stress. Overall, fantastic week. They have already blew me away in size being on 12/12 from seed. The BWPC was started late and wasnt showing signs of growth at all but this last week shes even shot up some new leaves and height. Very impressed.

This week was another awesome week. I've never been able to get that purple color to my plants due to living in the south. Well a couple nights this week got cold enough and I took some advice from another grower and left the windows open a few night. Well to my surprise I checked them 2 days later and all have started showing purple leaves and leaf tips. Also they are chugging water and nutrients as fast as I can give them. What awesome little strains these girls turned out to be. Cant wait to see the final product. The trichomes on all of them are astonishing as well. Every piece of plant material is covered in grizzly cold frost. Very pleased with their output.

It appears that the lower leaves on all of my plants seem to be turning yellow and have brown splotches appearing on them. I was feeding them everytime I watered with flora bloom, flora micro, superthrive and calmag. I quit giving floragrow last week? could this be it?

Hi, if it is little black spots it should be Thrips (little pretty harmless insects that eat some leaf but dont do too much harm if they dont become too many) you want to try some yellow sticker traps or lady bugs if it is them. They hide on the wet soil

At various stages of growth the plant will need different things in different amounts . You have a deficiency here for sure that needs to be addressed . You can adjust the amount of PK your giving your plants and this will help you get back on track . With that being said the plant my be being locked out due to over feeding . When you feed your plant with nutrients its important to only feed them with the nutrient additive solution you mix every 2nd or 3rd watering this way you can ensure your plant uses up most of whats in the soil before adding new nutrients to it . This will also help prevent lock outs and calcium build up on your roots . Now with that being said I would advise that you only water with PH corrected water for a few watering to see if its a lock out or a deficiency . If your plant continues to worsen then its a deficiency if you see it start to improve then its was a lock out . When you resume feeding with nutrients I would advise that you start from 1/2 strength and work your way back up as needed . I've also noticed that your pots are only 1 gallon . Odds are you are root bound in those pots and so when you feed with nutrients it can burn the roots leading to what we see as nutrient burns . It's important to understand that the roots of a plant need space and that once they run out of space you will notice a few things like lack in growth the buds arent getting any fatter or nutrient burns . Its a little to late in the cycle to fix this issue now but at least you know for the next time .Other then that you are well on your way to getting some nice tasty medicine !! I hope this information helps you on your quest to becoming a grow master ! - Happy Growing!

Stickanswered grow question 6 years ago
Hi @NastyYeti! Yep this sounds like a serious deficiency, but in my opinion it's not a lack of nutrients, it's the opposite: a lockout. Indeed, I think you overfed that baby for quite a long time. In soil, you shouldn't feed everytime you water, nutrients just can't be flushed that easily and they tend to accumulate (salt buildups). Now that your rootzone is flooded with salts / old nutrients, roots are unable to manage N/P/K/Cal/Mag intakes... In this situation I would flush the medium for a few days with plain pH'd water (but no RO water, tap water will be good to restablish a good cal / mag balance), then see how it goes after a few days. If she still needs to fatten up / produce resin, then go back to a very light nutrient regime. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

This Week was okay, plants started showing some signs that I didnt like. Top Flower leaves are showing some yellowing and I believe I figured out what was causing it. Honestly though I personally feel like they are kicking butt right now. They are pretty frosty and the purple that all three strains are starting to show really make me happy. I love colorful plants. I will say I prolly wont be doing Coco again though. I really like using some good soil. Less problems for me. The purple Queen is the tallest one out of the bunch. Northen Lights. Then followed by RQS Critical. I'm very pleased to say the BWPC is starting her stretch. The aroma from the girls is very noticeably resembling Berries and Cheese.

Another week down, so far these girls are still packing some weight on. Removed some fan leaves that were shadowing some lower nodes. These girls are smelling dank. Purple Queen continues to push off a super citrus/grape scent that smells so damn fruity. Even BWPC is still trucking. Just started flushing a couple days ago so in another week or two, 3 of these should be close to getting cut down.

Well this week was just fine. All I'm doing is straight flushing. They are starting to be a natural air freshener to the house. Purple Queen is pushing off a very sour grape smell, it almost makes your eyes burn when you take a big whiff of it. I always love growing these little stacked plants. I'm thinking of growing more of these 12/12 girls, love just seeing what a seed can do from start to finish in the least amount of time. I've had some great results in the past with doing this by accident. To me, all these plants seem to be doing very well. Even the PC is killing it.

Grow was easy, 12/12 from seed is always fun. For a shorter grow I'm pleased with what I ended up with, no complaints. Very, very pungent. Smells like diesle and grapes. All three of these girls turned out quite decent. Black water purple cheese is still going and I'll upload it tomorrow. Thanks for the likes and follows!

She was very plump for being a tiny plant (Started her on 12/12 from seed). Shes got hues of purple up top. Smell is like sour grapes. Super pumped to smoke on this girl. Couple days of drying then into a jar of her own for some curing. This was a long diary but fun. About to start another one as soon as possible.

@NastyYeti, Same for me with coco, i still kind of suck at growing in it lol. Some people say that coco needs more iron than other soils, dont know how much of that is true. I have also used GHE Nutrients, but prefer Advanced nutrients over them for couple of reasons, one of them being better phosphorus to potassium ratios during flower. If you get a chance, i recommend trying out Advanced nutrients. Peace out

@NorthernGrows, Thanks man, this is my first time using Coco coir and perlite instead of soil. I've always had troubles with it but I feel I may have worked the kinks out. My biggest problem was using way too strong of nutrients. I was really burning them up at first. Just had to cut the solutions back to almost 1/4 of recommended strength.

Looking good. Great choice to reduce the nutrients, they are meant for tomato’s. So you are on the good path of white ash. If I was to recommend one thing to add it would be mycorrhizae like great white or recharge. Easy with your watering though you are on the edge. If you notice some of your leafs are puffy/speed bump texture. What happens is is too much water too often is choking off oxygen to the roots. I know it’s coco and people say to water 12 times a day(joke), but you can water more often when the roots are there along with the pant to remove the water quicker. When you water too often to only choking off the oxygen like water boarding, but you start to kill the root hairs(fuzzy fuzzy) making it very hard to up take the salts(nutrients). Of course don’t want to water too late either or you can dry the roots out. Can be a factor to your purpleing stems as well. Sort of a gray area. Any ways sorry if you know this stuff, not sure your level. I wouldn’t switch nutrients, they are more or less all the same. Best of luck I’ll follow along. ThIs was 12/12 from seed?

Can you use the advanced nutrients main line for soil as well?
NorthernGrows
NorthernGrowscommented6 years ago
@NastyYeti, There is actually a collection of coco based nutrients. https://www.advancednutrients.com/products/coco-base-nutrients/ I use Connoisseur Grow + Bloom in my hydro system, so i suppose the coco version of them would be a solid choice. I've also tested Big bud as additional nutrition, and it seems to boost the grow quite well. Still haven't tried Overdrive but i hear thats good aswell.
