Germination success! 4/5 of our GSC seeds germinated and sprouted (80% success rate). The first 2 taproots emerged about 36 hours after initial germination, and the other 2 emerged the next day. A hole was cut in the bottom of a red solo cup and stacked inside another red solo cup (for drainage). Seeds were placed, taproot facing down, into moistened soil about 1/4 in. deep, and lightly covered with a pinchful of soil. Once seeds were planted, soil around the edges of the cups were lightly misted with water. All 4 cups were placed on a heating mat (keeping the temp from 70-80 degrees F), and placed in the grow tent with the lights off, for 2 days. After 48 hours, gentle light was introduced and for the seedling stage, we will maintain an 18/6 hr. lighting schedule, gradually increasing light strength from about 20% strength to 50-60% strength throughout the seedling stage in the next couple of weeks. Humidity range goal for the tent is 60-75%, with a VPD set on our AC Infinity controller to 0.8 kPa; OK for it to range from 0.45-0.75 kPa at this stage.
WATERING:
Day 8: Plants 2 & 3 were given their first watering (3.4 oz of water with a pinchful of Bergman's seedling booster (11% Nitrogen, 40% Phosphorus, 13% Potassium).
Day 9: Plants 1 & 4 were given their first watering (3.4 oz of water w/ same nutrient as above)
Day 13: All plants given 3.5 oz water (no nutrient) - Grow light was increased this week by 10% (30% of total light strength)
***Some mild leaf curling noticed on 2 of the plants on 15-days post germ; lights reduced back down to 20% intensity; will resume with gradual increase in a couple of days once plants have a day or two to recover from the stress.
