Planted 5 seeds directly into medium (soil - FF Happy Frog - solo cups) and all popped by day 4. Growing in a 32x32x60 tent, so will cull down to the 3-4 most vigorous seedlings by transplanting into final medium (FFOF/perlite) on day ~10. Upgraded my light (to 200w) and have more precise temperature monitoring. Really excited to see how this 2nd grow goes.
Both strains are Autos with a life cycle of 75-85days. Will be growing in 3g or 5g pots (still deciding). Just pH water (6.7) for first week.
Once they popped, these little ladies have shown good, easy progress. All seedlings appear fairly vigorous and healthy. Added a little FF Big Bloom (1/3 strength) starting day 4. Last time I transplanted at day 12, and this time will likely do it on day 9-10 as they all seem to be doing great and outgrowing the cups faster this time around.
I will likely go with 3- 3 gallons pots this time and cull 2 plant. I plan on doing much more LST and canopy maintenance this time around, so hopefully won’t get as unruly in the tent. Environment is good so far and more stable than the last run I did (in mid-summer).
** Edit ** - D8: Transplanted 2 Devil Fruit and 1 Zo Raven into 3 gallon pots. Provided all get through the transplant without too much stress, this will be the final grow. Briefly considered adding the 4th pot, but going for quality over quantity this run.
Final soil mix: 2:1 FFOF/FF Happy Frog
Environment is started to get dialed in (VPD .9-1.1) and the ladies are humming right along. Came through the transplant really well so far and looking good. Still on FF Big Bloom (1/2) and on about 250mls/day but they are starting to look thirsty.
Another great week on the farm. Continued growth and good vigor on all three plants. Conditions in the tent are much better so far than my last grow (last summer), where I had trouble with both temp & humidity this early. Averages for the week are temps: 76 degrees, humidity: 55%. Night temps average 65ish. Still figuring water schedule for the 3g pots, but roughly averaging 1l per plant/24hrs.
Zo Raven: Showed sex (pistils) on day 15, and topped between nodes 4 & 5 on day 16.
Devil Fruit: Both are a bit squatter plants and were FIM’ed on day 18 above node 5.
Had a nice week of growth. Shoots are vigorously extending up and I expect that at least the Zo Raven to go into flower this week, if not all three. I ended up topping the ZR and FIMing the two Devil Fruit last week, mostly to see how they respond. I’m looking to have a much more even canopy this time around so we’ll see how it goes. Neither the topping or FIMing had much effect on growth. Other than that, I’ve only done a little LST to spread the lowers out some and did some leaf-tucking to give the shoots access to the light.
DLI is up to 30-35 for what I expect to be the last week of veg. VPD is right on target of 1.0-1.1. Still figuring out the watering on the 3g pots, but each plant is getting 1+ liters every 2 days and that seems to be working. Ph and Nutes are looking good. Definitely feel more comfortable with this grow and excited to see what it brings. Definitely learning much more then last time, which was generally just trying to get the plants to survive until harvest.
**Edit**
Zo Raven - Started flowering on D25
As we go into W5, all plants doing great are into flower and starting to stretch. Continued vigorous growth all week. Still getting the watering down, and have gone to 750ml daily for now which is working well. The rest of the environment is pretty dialed in at this point. Most LST since the topping/FIMing has been leaf- tucking and exposing the emerging bud sites with the goal of a much more even canopy this time around. So far so good and the plants appear healthy and compact with a good upright structure. Very pleased so far.
FF nutes per schedule and gradually going to try to bring the humidity down to 50% during flowering, as opposed to the current 55% (average). You can definitely see a sativa structure on the Zo Raven (50/50 hybrid), and a more compact indica structure for the Devil Fruit (80/20 indica).
Had to leave town for a week, and the ladies missed me. The was someone here for daily feedings, but came back and had some yellowing on a few of the lower leaves of ZR, and to a much lesser extent the two DF. I suspect the pH might have been off a bit. Corrected that and added a little Cal Mag. Clipped the affected leaves and seems to be better now with no more yellowing in the last few days. Upped their water intake a bit to 1.75 liters/48 hours as the seemed thirsty.
Despite that, all plants are progressing well into flower. The FIM on DF2 must have not broken the Apical Dominance and she is taking off to 24 inches. The other two are doing well and both about 16 inches, with multiple colas thickening up. ZR is starting to give off a distinct candy-like strawberry smell and seems to continue to be ahead of the other two.
Had a great week of growth. The “failed FIM” DF2 measures in at 26 inches, but the main canopy for all 3 sits at about 18-19 inches. Pulled/tied the main cola of DF2 out from under the lights and that main canopy is right at 45-50 DLI. MUCH happier with this run as it pertains to canopy and plant structure. Got a little wild in my last grow, and had a lot of larfy buds. This feels much better. These ladies are really thirsty and finally feels like I’m getting the swing of watering these 3g. Did some defoliation on the lowers on all 3
Zo Raven (Mephisto) - She’s a real beauty and getting frostier by the day. At 19 inches, she not the tallest, but has 5-6 main colas that will stack up nicely. A strong, sweet strawberry 🍓 cream 🥛smell of this plant that’s got me excited to try her already. Lol
Devil Fruit (Hoku) - DF2 has a very typical x-mas tree shape, with tons of bud sites. Not incredibly frosty yet but a nice smell to starting to come in. Smells like Dr. Pepper soda 🥤. DF1 looks like a bush, but the fan leaves are covering a massive number of bud sites. Still smells a bit skunky, but zero frost at this point so probably a bit lat developing. She’s about 17-18 inches.
Another great week and looking good as we enter week 8. Raised ZR and DF1 up about 5-6 inches or so to allow for a bit better light access for these final few weeks. These ladies are stacking up real nice and all look healthy. Definitely like to hold them past 70-75 days, but ZR may finish a bit quicker. They go quick in these 3 gallon pots.
Zo Raven (Mephisto) - After topping, she’s developed 5-6 huge main colas and is absolutely stacking flowers up and down the whole length, all laden with trichomes. She has a wonderful candy, strawberry 🍓 odor that overpowers the rest of the tent.
Devil Fruit (Hoku) - Two fairly distinct phenos with these two plants, both in structure and profile. Both have an earthy OG funk, but DF2 has a sweeter syrupy soda (Dr. Pepper) thing going on, while DF1 has a subtle earthy, nutty profile (reminds me of peanut butter). Both very intriguing. Both are behind the ZR, so will likely make 75+ days.
Headed into week 9, and the garden is just humming along. Got some AC infinity gear for the holiday and continuing to dial the environment in. As we head into the last few weeks, I raised the lights a few inches and changed the schedule to 20/4. Going to try to bring the temperature down a few degrees. The humidity is in the mid 50s, and will try to bring that down as well. Showed a little Knute burn last week, so gave two feedings of just pH water, and they seem a little happier. I’m pretty happy with where we are at as we head into the homestretch. Just light defoliation this week.
Zo Raven - still nice and frosty, with a pretty strong candy strawberry profile. She definitely needs a few weeks to stack up, and I’m hoping to push it past 75 days before harvests.
Devil Fruit - these are continuing to progress as well, and profiles are very similar to last week with DF1 having a distinct sweet, nutty profile (peanut butter), and DF2 trends a bit sweeter like sugary soda 🥤. DF1 should definitely be the highest yielder and she is loaded with both sides all up and down her colas. Should be able to push both past 80 days.
Will update photos through the week
Entering into week 10 and we are just stacking and packing. The higher buds are really firming up, while the lowers are still pretty soft. Had a pretty uneventful week, but the ladies are definitelys slowing down on their feeding. Both temps and humidity has been dropped for the final few weeks. Took a look at the trichomes, and they are still only 50-60% cloudy. Should be good for all to make 75+ days despite the smaller pots and early development. Really excited for this grow so far.
Zo Raven - 6 huge colas on this girl, with 2 slightly lesser ones. She’s a sticky one, and still has the same sweet creamy candy/strawberry profile.
Devil Fruit - these ladies are really coming along nicely and fattening up. Both have a bit more of the OG funk coming in from the Samsqaunch, on top of initial profiles they had. DF1 definitely has a funky sweet nutty profile while DF2 smells like Dr. Pepper served out of a gas can. Both very intriguing.
*added* - Checked trichs on day 68 and they are starting to cloud up. Probably at 70-80%. I’m not a huge couch-lock fan, so they’ll all likely come down within the next week.
Entering into week 11 and the ladies have started the fade. The top buds are nice and firm, but still pushing pistils and trichs are about 70-80% clouded. They are just on pH’d water (6.4) now and may come down this week, or early next week. No issues at all this week and so far it’s been a nice easy grow. The AC Infinity gear (controller and humidifier) I recently installed about 2 weeks ago, has really stabilized the environment and temps have been 72-77 F, and RH 45%.
Really excited about this run and hoping for a nice yield.
Harvested on day 74. Both plants were very heavy yielders, with over 1kg wet weight. 7 days to dry at 60/55. Dried a bit faster than I liked, but everything went into the grove bags to cure at 63-65%. Dry weight into the bags was 238g. Smelled similar to when they were cut. Super easy grow and these plants were pretty hands off after FIMing on day 19. Very little support needed despite huge colas.
Very dense nugs and basically zero larf or popcorn nugs.
Harvested on day 74. Very nice yield of 438g (wet), and did a wet trim and into the fridge fora cool dry. 12 days in the fridge dried them to 63-64%, so they were shucked and all placed into grove bags to cure. Final weight into the bags was 97g whicI’m quite happy with. Nugs not quite as large or dense as the Devil Fruit, but still very nice and basically little to no popcorn nugs. Had a little sample and it has a very strawberry candy taste, and the nose is a more funky, fruity profile. Should cure really nice.
Between the three plants, I harvested 315g (11+ zips) so I’m much happier with this run. Larger lights made a bigger, denser yield I feel.
