I decided to try germinating Canna #1 directly into the substrate for the first time. Placed the seed on October 23. After 3 days I figured it was not going to come up so I started another seed. But Canna #2 I put in the water overnight, then into the towel, and then a couple of days later into the coco. Lo and behold on Oct 27 I decided to look under the paper cup and there was a seedling looking skinny and yellow from no light. I figured it was over for that seedling but after 1 night and healthy dose of water w Cal Mag she came back to life immediately. Canna #2 followed 3 days later and so I'm going to track both plants in this diary.

Veg Week #1-Day 1 to 7
-Good progress in week 1 for both plants.
Week #3
11/15-Canna 2 is not quite as developed as Canna 1 at 15 days. Canna 2 is also a bit yellow green.
11/19-Canna 2 is starting to get her green color back after adding additional Cal Mag. Did a small trim on lower branches.
11/20-After 21 days the plants are equal in height. Canna 1 is still alot greener than Canna 2 even after hitting it hard with CalMag. I've done very little LST or defol on Canna 2 so far. While it looks healthy it is a little skinnier and less sturdy looking than Canna 1. I've not Topped or Fimmed either plant.
I'm growing 2 Mephisto Canna Cheese seeds. Canna #1 is looking very healthy and green. Canna #2 is healthy (ish) but its branches are more spread out and the leaves are a bit yellow green. I'm trying to figure out if I have a problem with Canna #2 before it gets worse.
You have mag issues pal
Check your calmag and see can it be used as a foliar spray.
Soak your leaves till dripping wet.
(150 or so ppm added to tap, ph doesn't really matter) but anything you feed below make sure if it's in the range for coco

11/21-Both plants are doing well.
11/22-Canna 2 is starting to get green now after adding alot more Cal Mag to the mix. It's also growing taller, albeit a bit 'thinner' than Canna 1. Trimmed away a few very large fan leaves.
11/23-Canna 2 up o 10 inches, Canna 1 up to 8 inches.
11/25-Starting to get close to preflower on both plants. Canna 2 continues to grow up a bit faster. Canna 2 is up to 12 inches and Canna 1 is 10 inches.
11/27-First 4 weeks went well for both plants. Both are starting to preflower. Next week I'll switch to Bloom feed schedule.
Week #6
11/30-Plants are really starting to stretch.
12/1-started Bloom nutes
12/4-After 35 days Canna 2 is up to 23 inches tall. Canna 1 is at 19 inches (after 38 days). Both plants look very healthy. Canna 1 is a bit more compact with less space between nodes. Canna 2 much more tall and wiry. Both are starting to flower. I'm feeding both of them a full mix of Bloom nutes and they are gobbling it up.
Week #7
11/6-Both plants are really doing nicely now. The LST has been paying off and all the branches are spaced out nicely and light is getting to all. Buds are starting to form. Lots of spacing in the branches.
11/9-Canna 2 is up to 34 inches. Very long and lanky. Canna 1 is 23 inches with much tighter spacing on the nodes. Looks great.
12/14-Both plants are shaping up nicely.
12/18-These 2 plants are a case study in how unique each plant really is. Both of these are the same strain, both are looking really healthy, neither one was topped or fimmed and one is 23 inches tall and one is 40 inches. It will be very interesting to see how each plant finishes in terms of yield and THC/CBD content.
12/20-Both plants are doing great. They are packing on trichomes and density.
12/25-Canna 2 is up to 42 inches and appears to have stopped there. She is tall and gangly where Canna 1 is shorter and sturdier. Both are packing on the dense buds. Looking forward to seeing how they turn out.
1/3-Canna 1 is so sticky, the buds are so dense, the trichomes are cloudy and getting more amber so I decided it was time to harvest. I started with the top cola which was 60.3 grams wet after trim. Placed it in the Cannatrol Cool Cure to dry.
1/4-Harvested another 254.7 grams wet weight after trim. Buds feel like big sticky golf balls!! I've still got more to harvest. I think I'm going to let the rest of the plant go another 2-3 days to fatten up the bottom buds. Canna 2 is 3-4 days behind and I'm betting that will be a bigger yield.
1/5-Chopped the rest of Canna 1. Got nearly 15.5 ounces wet weight. All of Canna 1 is now in the Cannatrol to dry for 4 days and cure for 4 days. Can't wait to see how she smokes and what the THC:CBD numbers come out to. Canna 2 should start coming down by the end of the week. Flushing her now.
1/9/25-Decided to do the first cut. Buds were very sticky and dense. Wet weight trimmed was 319.2 g. I'll let the lower buds go another week to fatten up. Flushing with RO water only now.
Canna #1 yielded 433.6 g/15.48 oz wet weight trimmed. Canna #2 yielded even more...585.6 g/ 20.91 oz wet weight trimmed. Buds the size of golf balls, dense, and sticky. Easy grow, no topping this time, and the results and yield were great. I've let the first batch of Canna #1 dry and cure for a little over a week and did a little sample. It already tastes great.
