Seen a lot of growth this week. She’s now 20” tall. Topping doesn’t seem to have stunted growth even though I topped a little late. She started showing signs of flower 3 days later so I hope it doesn’t affect yield too much. In the future I will top at 4 nodes because this didn’t seem to really solve my height concerns.
I have also started to see a few issues.
First, the new growth is twisting slightly however I’m starting to see bud formation so it doesn’t seem to be impacting growth too much at the moment. I think this is due to light intensity so I raised the light as high as it will go and is 17” from the canopy and turned it down from 80% to 70%. I read this could also be from too much P or K but because she’s in flower, I hope this corrects itself. Second, I have noticed some yellow tips on the lower leaves so I’m wondering if there’s some nutrient burn going on. I amended the soil with bloom and some worm castings but I noticed the tips a few days before I fed dry amendments and since they are slow release, I don’t think it’s from this feeding. She looks healthy otherwise so I’m hoping she bounces back quickly. Last, is the leaf drooping which I think is from transpiration happening too quickly so i adjusted my fan because she had grown into the air path and I hadn’t noticed. I’m also having trouble keeping the humidity in the 50s because we had some really cold dry days this week so I think I need to order a small humidifier. This is my first winter grow so I wasn’t really sure what to expect in terms of maintaining the environment.
My app says the garden is flourishing in terms of conditions inside the tent so I’m not really sure if that’s true or what’s causing the issues. Since it’s an autoflower I know I don’t have much time to fix issues but FastBuds says this strain is particularly resilient and I’m hoping that holds true. So far she’s maintained steady growth in spite of these problems. I also trimmed off 4 of the largest fan leaves that were blocking prime bud sites. I have inspected her top to bottom with the jeweler’s loupe just to make sure there were no pests and I didn’t see any so there’s that positive. Other than the fixes I’ve already done, I’m not sure what else to do other than wait and see what happens next.
