I started this grow from clone using my TurboKlone. But this time I decided to try a different technique (fogponics) to start root growth. I replaced the pump and sprayer with a fogging mist maker. Rising water temps were still an issue but more easily managed and the roots appeared to have a greater tolerance at higher temps. In hindsight, I should have transitioned the clones into veg after 10 days but I was so impressed with root growth and development I let it run for another 5 days. This is definitely a technique I will continue to use. I was very impressed with the results.
I am now in the first few days of veg and using an RDWC method supplemented by a fogger. I have more than one inch of roots in water and the rest will be fed by the fogging water vapors. If this technique shows promise, i will lower the water levels and monitor. I would hope for continued growth with a better more efficient absorption of nutrients. We shall see.
That is an interesting comparison. The longer root hairs seem to be a result of the fogging technique. I did consider topping the root caps to encourage lateral root development but decided against it. I will keep my meddling below the soil line to a minimum for this grow.
Thank you for your interest. Any experience you choose to share is always appreciated.
Purpling is due to Mag deficiency. In your case there's too much light in your tent .
Adding Cal-Mag won't solve your problem until you dim your light or put it further.
Proper Mag def is rare, Mag def is mostly due to too much light or over watering (in media).
In your case it can't be over watering of course, you're using Cal-Mag and still having purpling, the only last solution is your light, your light is too powerful for this size of plant.
Your nootz solution is too hot by the way, you start to get nootz burn. What's the amount of ppm's in the res. ?
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, Thank you for the suggesting the light. Not sure what I was thinking when I increased the light but failed to raise it up. But it is all good now.
Stay on Veg nootz + Cal/Mag for the first 3 weeks of flowering, and add 250 ppm's of a 17% Nitrogen (17-0-0) supplements in the first 2 weeks of flowering if you can.
On week 4 you can switch to Flowering nootz + Mag/Sulfur and P-K Boosters for Indica's (start P-K boosters in week 5 for Sativa's).
@Mr_Di,you can slightly increase N for the first 3 weeks of flowering, they will super stretch, not really recommended if you don't have the space to grow monster plants.
@JUNGLE_B4RNS,
hi bro, i read of this kind of feed chart, N overboost for first 3 week of flo (or standard veg feed chart) , this metod shoud be encrease final size of plant...RIGHT?
Can you confirm this? Do they continue to grow more than usual by doing so? You know, I would try, but I do not have much space, I would not make a mistake...then with led, if i will have over 40 cm (vertical penetration) of canopy .....i will harvest little popcorn under this distance ๐
what is your feedback bro?
@8TrackBaby, i used dutch master gold in dwc and rdwc with excellent results. I also flowered with biobizz in my blue mystic grow diary with amazing results!
@HOW_i_GROW, It's RDWC. I might add one or two separate standalone buckets in the next grow and see if a different balance in nutrients make any difference. I may try a cheaper label than Fox Farm. We'll see. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks
@Fun_Growin, I have strawberries in it right now. But as soon as they are done and i pull the next set of clones I will put together some photos with a video. Creating a video for other cannabis growers will be new to me. So I hope not to come off as too laughable. Thank you for the interest.
I see and see your cultivation bro... mmm..here is nothing more beautiful than to see every corner of the growbox covered with leaves, branches and buds ... like it! I follow you with love ๐
Very nice looking grow room, 8. Your girls are looking great.
Promise me you won't go into flower until you have a full canopy. i.e. you can't see your the ground for your foliage. ;-)
btw. I think Barnes is seeing inter veinal chlorosis stage 1 which means too much light is falling on your girls.. Great idea to back your light off. I doubt you would need more than a 100 watts on your garden at this stage.IMO. Keep up the good work.
@Fun_Growin,
Thanks brother, I've got some new seeds on the way and a friend I can pull some clones from in the meantime. So I should be able to start a new crop this weekend. Fingers crossed.
@8TrackBaby,
Yuck!!! Been there in DWC myself.. WELCOME TO SOIL!! It's slower but who wants to fuck with all that RO water anyways right ?!?
Best of luck on next round I'll be watching
@Fun_Growin,
Sorry for the late response. I did flip them into flower before I had to leave on a near one month work trip. Please see my next journal entry from the details.
