Added too Much Golden tree this week causing root rot, which was quickly caught and fixed. Power bar kept on flipping off because I added a new humidifier which was was drawing too much power. Grow tent went down to 50 F because my heater was on the same power bar. Plants didnt seem too shocked , which suprised me . This has happened in the past and they became droopy . I am feeding more silica now and that seems to help keep them perky. I have been experimenting with grafting with a 50% success. My Cloning skills are getting better. It seems best to have a good routine when cloning , for me anyway. I have always been experimenting with different nutrients and additives , powder or liquid. Either way I listen to the plants watching the ppm . Once I find a stable ppm balance the PH will be stable too. I know that things are wrong when I get big swings in PH or PPM. Lately the PH has been dropping really low this is when I know I have too many Beneficial Microbes in my reservoir ,overpopulating and competing for resources with the plants . Ill change the tanks and keep a cup or two of the old beneficial guys to add back to the new solution. I ordered some alfalfa seeds which I would like to add to the top of my net pots for use as a cover crop. Right now I have a small dwc and a larger one the small one is at 225ppm PH 5.5-6.3 . the larger one is at 325 ppm same PH. I try to let the ph swing but is usually stable at 5.7-5.9 with the appropriate ppm. - For Lighting I am using 1000 watt Philips Hps bulb, running on a 600 watt ballast ( have been doing this for years no issues) The bulb is in a 6" glass air cooled tube . Connected to the tube is a 100 CFM inline fan (which is more than strong enough to do what I need). Hot air is routed out the window. - The tent is 48" wide, 24" deep , 6.5' tall The room my tent is in is very cold and un-insulated (its winter here). I run my intake fan and the heater on a digital thermostat controller . This allows me to keep the temperature within the proper threshold and conserves energy, saving on my hydro bill. Where I live we are charged time of use rates for hydro meaning at 7 in the morning we are charged more per hour because everybody is using the hydro at that time. So my lights turn on and off based off of our time of use chart. -Nutrients . Over the years I have built up a nice supply of free nutrients just by simply contacting companies and asking to try their product . sometimes these companies will have sample bottles that are not for sale but are given as free trial samples. So i mix and use different nutrients all the time most of them contain the same essential nutrients in the same or slightly different format Feel Free to ask any questions.. Thanks for viewing..

Have you ever Grafted Cannabis Before? I have been tinkering with a few things , such as the idea of air layering or Splicing two plant branches together while they are still partially connected to their original donor. Has anybody had success?Pics?

Wow that is a precise question, I doubt you found some example of it here but maybe you can make a search on the forum ICmag , they will be a sub section about that kind of experiment but it already has been done with a lot of plant around me and as long as you have compatible plants and a lot of time it should be possible 😊👍

I think this whole diary is amazing! I love that you're going to do the alfalfa c.c and the splicing idea is great too! Have you tried any splicing without having them still connected to the original plant? I feel like I've heard its best being done at a relatively younger age... i wonder if your plants will take on some of each other's qualities. Keep up the incredible experiments!

@Experimentgreen, Hello, Thanks for the positive feedback. Two days ago I took one cut from a female and one cut from a male then grafted them onto the opposite sex. I used the wedge graft technique this seems to be best for cannabis. Again I think the main issue is keeping the graft moist . I wrapped the graft attached to the male with cellophane and the other with a ziplock bag . The graft in the cellophane dried up because it wasnt properly sealed. The male graft attached to the female is still alive and im making sure the bag stays moist and sealed. Also if your plant has nice thick stems that are not hollow, meaning your are feeding your plant with sufficient calcium to build up the inner tissue the "Cambium" , Then you will have a better chance of the graft fusing to itself. I wouldnt put a graft on a seed plant unless it is a month old and is healthy

These Practices are accomplished all the time in the horticultural world. Cannabis is a simple plant as long as the inner cambium from the donor and host are tightly bound together and the entire branch and where the cut has been made are kept moist the cambium will fuse together forming new tissue .
