These havnt popped I'm trying a different germination style. I came across this coco called No float from greentree and it's a porous quick drying substrate without any addition of perlite. I didnt like the plugs or rooters flexibility alot of my seedlings end up with a curved stalk when I use them so I figured I would try filling some seed cells with the no float and start them that way. They were sowed into the cells after a 30 min soak in urb natural and a 20 hour soak in water. I sprinkled the seed rub on the top soil before saturating is basically mycos. The nutrients are from a company called meigs fertilizer everything is 100% organic you can find out more about them on Instagram I've had great results in veg with it but havnt flowered with it yet. These will ultimately be grown in 5 gallon Honor grow bags. Right now they are in a humidity dome in my 3x3 tent under an HLG65 from Horticulture lighting group.
Not goin great had a major flood at my house so had to put things on the back burner. They were just transplanted and fed so hopefully they turn around
Starting to adjust to the new pots but fighting very low humidity. Using the megacrop to start and will look to switch to something organic into flower. Pics were taken 3.1
Only got in one feed since the last time I updated, fungus gnats made an appearance it's like they came preinstalled in my coco or somethin. They fought thru mosquito bits all week so I had to hit them with some spinosad to kill the larvae and shit so hoping that helps. They were definitely slowing down nutrient uptake the pots took much longer to dry out than they did the previous feed so hoping they clear up. I topped one of these and am letting the other one grow with defoliation and maybe some LST.
Treated for fungus gnats with a light dose of spinosad. It's been around 59°f in the tent at night which isnt good for growth. The weather I'd starting to warm up a little bit so I hope for a little better growth. Starting a new round with one of these but gunna use the radicle bags instead of the honor ones.
Chopped them a few days ago, heres the pics of the first one and I'll get the second up soon, not great grow for me.
Edit
Both chopped dried and into jars, will update harvest when I get weight. Smells like coffee to me?
Try the yellow sticky pads, they work well for fungus gnats and you don’t have to spray anything on the plants themselves. The gnats love yellow so they are immediately attracted to the sticky pads and once they land- they’re stuck. A few weeks and you’ll have them all! The sticky pads can be found in any hardware store/garden centre, don’t cost much and are the only way to truly get rid of your gnat problem. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, please let me know and I will post a pic of the pads I use on my latest diary for you to see and then take them down after you know what I’m talking about. Hope this helps a little! Good luck!
@Fruitgrower, fungus gnats look like little fruit flies and the eggs/larvae seem to hatch a few days after watering. If left unattended, the flies will continue to multiply every time you water and within a few weeks you’ll have a problem. You’ll see the adult flies within your grow space if you have them- flying around slowly and they like to rest on the underside of the plant’s leaves. They also leave behind sort of sticky, iridescent marks on the upper surface of your plant’s leaves which is essentially fly pee/poo. When using the yellow sticky strips, you simply set them up and stab them down into your dirt/medium/coco, etc. They usually come with sort of a stake design and little yellow pads that slide into groves on the stake itself. Simple, effective and cheap with no chemicals harming ur plants. Hope this helps! 😎
@Momgrowsthechronic, thanks mom. I'll get some sticky strips sorted, wheres the best place to put them in a tent? I use soil, coco, Perlite and organic compost so there's bound to be some bugs but I didn't think they'd be too harmful. I'm scared of these fungis natts I've been hearing so much about!
@Fruitgrower, I do my very best to keep an extremely clean tent! I use a peat based grow medium that is almost sterile in nature and do my very best to avoid cross contamination when introducing new stuff to my tent. When growing in soil you are almost always guaranteed to bring in some sort of pest because soil is organic in nature. I use the Safer’s Yellow Sticky Strips from day one in soil because as soon as you water- the fungus gnats abruptly appear within a few days. If you eliminate the adult gnats from the start, you can usually prevent an infestation from happening altogether. Because I don’t grow in soil very often, I don’t really concern myself with pest control. Just spend time with ur plants- everyday if possible and you’ll notice a pest problem if one arises.
@ChefGreenThumbGardenofWeedin, yeah always have tight dense nugs they are quantum boards hlg550 from horticulture lighting group. These buds are especially rock solid prob because they were stunted in veg were very small plants in general but they work for me✌️🙏
U must have lots of gnat larvae if they are significantly damaging the roots :( When I grow in dirt I use the sticky pads from day 1 because there’s always a gnat surprise just waiting for water. If I use the pads early enough, I can usually knock out the gnat population within 2-3 weeks. Good luck with killin the little buggers if they’ve already established a colony within ur root system :(
Go sticky pad crazy and all the best!
@ChefGreenThumbGardenofWeedin, the autos veg as long as the feel like it, photos I just flower em whenever I usually flip at various stages not for any reason just not as organized as I'd like to be
Does it look like the Spinosad is working. Did you use it as a drench in the top inch or so of the surface? Dealing with some fungus gnats myself, their persistent little bastards.
@Philindicus, they're not as bad but there are still a few kickin around I have a little azamax but dont want to use it unless I have to and even then I'm hesitant. Thinking about sand but dont want to restrict airflow thru the roots
