Hey! Welcome to my next grow. Decided to give autos a swerve for a while for a few reasons. I've had a bad run of germination from my last few attempts. Also some of the plants I have been growing have flowered far too early which would be a huge waste of valuable tent space. Big shoutout and thank you to the team at RQS. James contacted me and asked if I could run one of their strains in my setup. I'm a big big fan of blueberry strains so decided to give the Haze Berry a go! James sent me 5 seeds out along with a sweet box of goodies. To my delight all 5 seeds have germinated in water so all 5 are now in the tent. Seeds in soil today (11.02.19). They will undergo the full Ice Cream Parlour experience meaning topped at the 3rd node. Supplemented with 1200ppm co2. LST and Scrog under the usual Maxibright 315w laps and an extra LED to boost them along mid flower. Keep checking back for updates. I'll be giving this strain my complete attention aiming for a big yeild and quality buds. Update - I put seeds into water on 8.02.19. Moved the sprouted seeds to 20 litre pots on 11.02.19. Now 13.02.19 they have broken the surface of the coco and showing their cotyledons. I will start supplementing 1200ppm Co2 from tomorrow.

24th Feb, Day 11. I'll be adding a few more pics as the week progresses. Healthy, happy and strong! The biggest will most likely be topped tomorrow/Tuesday. If so it will be the fastest growing strain I've ran to date. My last plants were topped around day 20 so these will chopped around day 14. Nearly a whole week earlier! The main stems are starting to gain some girth now. I do have 1 that is a little behind the others but I'm not too worried as I'll be vegging them for at least another 2 weeks. Today is the first day I've given them a "proper" watering. Up to now it's just been a litre or so of Plant Start but now I've switched over to the BioGreen line and they've had around 6 litres each, which is enough to soak the pots to run off. Keeping the EC low at 1.0 and Ph between 5.6-5.8. The only negative from this week has been the weather. We've had an odd warm week which has meant the tent has been over 32'c some days. Showing some minor heat stress but I think running high Co2 balances things out a little. Keep checking back for daily growth pic updates.

First day of the 3rd week. Staggered by the speed of these. 15 days and they've already been topped and recovered. Colour and condition looking great. I'll feed at 1.2ec this week and see how they cope. Scrog net is now in place so I'll let them grow upto it then flip to 12/12. As always check back daily for updates.

08.03 - day 23. Having a strange issue this week. Snapping stems. I'm not being rough with them or trying to bend them too hard but they just keep breaking at the joints. Making me wonder if it's just genetic or a nutritional issue? Other than that growth is fantastic. Lots of potential bud sites popping out. With the stress of some snapped stems I'm going to let them fill out for another week at least before flipping the lights to 12/12. Pics updated mid week. Update: 13.03 - A few more photos added at day 28. Would love to know why one of my girls is flowering. Wondering if it's the stress of a snapped stem? Mabey a random auto? None the less it's now starting to produce buds so I guess I'm going to have to flip the whole tent in the next few days to stay on schedule. Update: 16.03 Day 31 - Flipped the lights to 12/12. Earlier than planned due to the random auto in the tent. Going to run with it. To try and achieve an equal yield I've added an additional 600hps in favour of the 300LED. Total wattage is now 1860 watts in 2.4×1.5 tent. Should be more than ample.

Please take a quick look at my last few photos. One of the plants is flowering despite being on 20/4 light schedule. Can anyone advise what could cause this? Mabey I have a rogue auto in the tent.

hey ICP, you're the second person this has happened to that i've seen. Only genetics can cause this, not grower "error" as it were so dont blame yourself , blame the genius guys at the seedbank you bought these beans in for switching them out for an auto. On the plus side you have a grow diaries mystery on your hands now. Guess the strain ! it could literally be anything ... Hope this helps ! 🚀

Week 5 finally here! I had to flip the lights on Sunday night so they've now had 4 days under 12/12. Check out my new grow room addition!!! GAS enviro controller! Taking all the guess work out. Despite that I've had to temporarily switch off the additional 600w light due to some heat stress issues. I think I got a little too excited with the extra wattage. I didn't think they had grown much this week but looking back at the week 4 diary I can see they definitely filled out. Now they are in flower they should stretch out. Just given them 2 lots of PH tap water this week as the runoff was at 2.4ec. That tells me they aren't taking in the little nutrients I've been giving them so the soil needed a light flush. I'll leave them on light veg nutes/water for another week until I see something more than pre flowers. More pictures added throughout the week. 24.03 - day 40, canopy is almost full. Pre flowers showing but hardly any stretch at the moment. I've put them on 1.5ec flowering nutes as the biggest plant had some K deficiency showing on the new growth. Seems to have perked them up. Also need to keep up with the needs of the auto. Not sure what strain it is yet but it's a nice fruity smell with sativa leaves and pale colours.

Final week of veg! I did flip to 12/12 mid week so next weeks update will be the 1st of flowering. I haven't experienced much stretch from this strain yet but hoping they stretch mabey just a few inches to properly fill my nets out and maximise the light coverage. Now I have the GAS enviro controller installed I can run the extra 600hps which now means I'll get the most benefit from the additional Co2. I'm really confident this will be my best grow to date! Looking forward to running some more great genetics from RQS. Update - halfway through the week and the stretch has commenced! Grown 4" in 4 days. I keep adding in the extra 600w HPS when temps allow as I need them to stay short and stocky.

Sweet! Week 7 completed and my tent has never looked so healthy! These plants are without doubt the greenest and happiest I've grown to date. I'm using the 600w hps intermittently on days where it is cooler so that my hyper fan isn't working too hard. The stretch is now fully on and they have double their height already. I'm hoping it comes to and end soon as I have this set up pretty much perfect now. The strong light and Co2 is really pumping up those buds. To say they have only been in flower for just over a week the bud sites are really filling out and I'm seeing distinct differences between the phenos. The rogue is going really well too and I'm confident that will finish up healthy and frosty. Hard work is now complete. It's just time to maintain and keep them praying for the next 7 weeks or so.

2nd week of flower done and dusted. Still marching on at full speed. Nothing phases these girls. Three very distinct phenos between them. I've selected the strongest of them and taken a clone. Hoping it will re-veg and make a strong mother. Already I can see the huge potential from this strain and Im already planning my grow around these. Lots of early frost from 2 of them. Smell is a sweet/minty/fruit blend. Spreading its energy out well, as the lower buds sites seem similar to the top half. I'm having to use the 600hps selectively on cool days so they've mainly been under the CHMs this week. I'm hoping to pick up a variable ballast so that I can run it at 400w which should keep the temps down sufficiently to run it throughout the whole light period. The little Northern Lights/Widow??? auto is looking great to say its only receiving 12 hours of light. Nice dense buds. Good frost for an auto. I think it will be ready in another 2 weeks with it being on the small side. Check back mid week for updates as always.

3rd week hasn't been so great for these girls. I have to admit my own skills are to blame for their turbulent week. I haven't calibrated my PH pen in a little while and noticed yellowing, spotting, rusting, twisting etc. Quite a few symptoms which made me check environment with a closer eye. I realised I've been having to add much more pH down into my reservoir to reach the desired range. Well hey presto the ph pen was 0.7 in the minus. So my girls have been getting 5.0-5.3 ph feed for a short time. I've now got that issue resolved and leached the coco tonight with 1.2EC / 5.9PH nutrients. I'm hoping a handful of those throughout the week will de-stress and get these girls back on track. Well one major positive this week is I think I may have discovered a very rare pheno. The bud structure, density, frost and smell are all Grade A! The smell is the real gift. I've never smelled anything as strong in my life. Sour limes is the biggest understatement ever wrote. It smells exactly like the green Starburst sweets! I really hope it keeps this smell and taste in the coming weeks. I also think these will be ripe in record time. Very compact dense buds with lots of resin already. A friend looked at them and guessed they were around week 5 flower. I have to agree they look supercharged. I'm in no rush with this grow however and will let them take all the time they need in order to really gauge their potential as a mother. I've reversed a flower back into veg and will be using her as a cuttings plant in a future diary. More pictures mid week!

Week 4 complete and I have to admit another sub par attempt from me. I failed to identify P deficiency early on. My nutrient EC/PPMs all the way through have been very low and the plants seemed to love it. Then all of a sudden week 3 comes along and they a more demanding than my girlfriend when shes on her period. I should have introduced higher levels of PK but instead misdiagnosed it as lockout and opted to do a 2 day flush. Afterwards I steadily increased nutrients but it's still not enough to keep up with her heavy swealing. I think I finally got a hang of it yesterday so they've had 2 days of steady watering just to get some nutes around the roots! I'm hoping they bounce back in a couple days and the yield isn't too badly affected. They were looking very frosty earlier on but that also seemed to have halted. Fingers crossed that also finds another gear. If they look any better later in the week I'll get some really good close ups...... Added a few pics of the northern lights up close. Tricomes look like they are ripe and ready so I'll flush them for 5 days then chop.

Week 5 flower done and a job well done. It's been a rollercoaster week but they've really swelled up which I'm taking as a sign most of the stress has been relieved. Also finally harvested the mystery auto! Literally 20 mins ago which should mean if you check in sane time next week I'll be able to give a dry weight and smoke report on the next diary entry. I took a handful of photos and uploaded them. Got to quickly say hats off to RQS their genetics are second to none. That auto looks better than some top photoperiod I've had. It's going to be over 5oz dry and the bugs are rock solid. I gave it no attention throughout the grow and it flourished without any nute def or problem. Edit: Forgot to add only been on 12hours of light. I even had to throw out a huge cola due to bud rot. My gut telling me its a northern lights but I'd like some of your guys opinions. I upped the PK to 1.25ml per litre and they seem to have improved. I'll start to reduce it over the weekend. Other than that I've just been keeping them cool and watered.

Okay I dont really know where to start with this weeks update. The deficiency in one plant remains whereas the others do seem to have improved slightly. I've bit seen much change this week in density or general bud size. However they have started to ripen up and the frost continues. Few days ago I tested my run off ec and ph which said the soil was too acidic at 5.4ph also the EC was high at 2.1. Opted to flush with tap water but now I'm getting readings all over the place. What I've decided to do is grab a new PH pen as mine is a year old now and throwing out false readings. When I have the new pen I'll give them another flush and feed tonight just to be sure they have in the right range. Northern Lights....... So, I tried the northern lights I chopped last week. Yield was 6.5oz dry. Buds slightly spongy but the frost and smell is great. Strong body stone from this one. I literally didn't want to do anything but relax, eat snacks and play some spiderman 😂 very happy with that outcome considering the conditions.

Yo! Need advice on what could cause a major PH differential between the nutrient solution and the runoff. I'm making my usual 70 litre bucket up and not adding any PH down. Feeding 1.6ec and 6.4 ph the runoff is measuring in at 1.8ec (good). 5.2ph (bad). Why?? Each fed over 20L.

Hey ICP, what happened is the salt build up has made the coco coir acidic especially when it's dry, try keeping it more moist maybe ? Either that or just keep doing what you're doing until it stabilises and it cant buffer itself out. Hope this helps ! by the congrats on a rocking harvest 🚀

Right then 7 weeks of flower complete. I'll dive right in to the juicy bits as this week has been predominantly about deciding weather to chop or keep one of my girls going. In the end I chose to do both! As the photos and videos show the plant wasn't recovering so I checked the trichomes and it was actually pretty ripe. A few Amber's on the upper buds. Lowers still undeveloped so I decided to take the biggest and leave the smallest for another week or while ever the plant is healthy. I estimate I've taken around 7oz once dry. Depending how they swell up I'm hoping for a further 5oz of solid bag worthy nugs. Looking nice and frosty, smell is that typical sweet haze with some sour diesel/fruit kick in there. You can see how the photos progress my hands getting covered in resin. Got to give my other 3 some love as they are getting healthier and fatter. I'm thinking another week on one of them and 2 on the others. I'll more than likely stagger the harvest like tonight if it proves worth while. I will update mid week.

Sorry for the initial lack of photos. I'm going to get some more of the full canopy tomorrow. As you can see I've been busy chopping down one and a half of the plants. The yield from last weeks harvest was 5.5oz dry. Some really nice buds I'll add a few photos of those now they've had a few days to cure. I'm expecting a yield of around 10oz total. The huge colas in the photos are from my best plant in the tent! I absolutely cannot wait to smoke this and can see me taking a cheeky sample out of the drying tent early! I put a quick post on Instagram earlier but these buds are by far and away the best I've ever grown. Smell, size, frost, density it has it all. Cant guess a weight yet but again I'm saying 10+. The rest of the girls need an additional 2 weeks. I'm thinking 1 on feed and 1 on flush. They aren't behind in size but the density isn't quite there yet and the leaves are still green and lush. Lots more photos coming in the next day or two! The train in the field is a sweet photo I got today while me and my friend were smoking a joint out in the Lincolnshire countryside. We had just pulled up because it was warm, calm and quiet. The train literally came across while we were sat at the side halfway down the smoke, and to top it off we pulled up because it was exactly 4:20! Happy growing!

Hey guys. Continuing to intermittently harvest nugs now. Weighed up all the first plant and got a very modest 10.5oz total. The bud did dry a little too warm so it has lost a little bit of the open bag punch but once in the grinder it smells great. Smoke is smooth head buzz turning into a great active, social and chatty high. Great for bedtime too ;) No now I'm left with almost 2 complete plants. One has had a cola taken off it early purely because it was too big and bent the stem right down almost snapping it. These 2 plants will remain on flush for a further 4 days until the weekend when they will be hung to dry with a tent load of Grad Daddy Purple. Should easily be 10oz per plant. Quality already looks between 7-8/10 and the best of the nugs are 9/10 overall. Final week then the ICP will be closed for some special renovations!

Overall 8/10 for me. It's all down to the pheno lottery regarding the final quality but each plant has flowered some lovely nugs with a great apple, sour fruits smell and taste. Only 1 plant fully down and dried right this second but I just wanted to add that I was wrong with my estimate yield. I've been smoking this every day for 4 days now and I took the last of the first plant and added it to the bucket. Total yield for the best pheno was actually a monster 13.9oz. I think that's pretty spectacular for a plant under CMH lamps. Co2 is also a factor but poor genetics wouldn't yield like that and also be of the best quality I've ever grown. In my opinion it is a connoisseur 'Haze' strain. Not a full 10/10 as the phenos were to different to really make it a viable 20 plant+ grow. In homage to RQS I'll be running some cookies and mabey a few other of their strains once the parlour has had a makeover!

Don't worry man. Anybody can grow weed, it's take a good specialized grower to grow a good one. I'm growing for 7 years now and still have problems here and there. It's a demanding plant but it gives you so much back..Good luck a head, I'll follow

@TheIceCreamParlour, my basic (unsolicited lol) understanding is that it's all about a slow dry right, so the "optimal conditions" suggested for a slow dry will do just that : dry it real slow to just above 50RH that alone will take 12-14 days "optimally", beyond that you either jar and humidify or let it dry out and it's basically ready. What i do is just dry as long as possible then jar, currently my record is 10 days drying then jarring lol just my basic understanding of the long drying and ready versus quick drying (5-7) and cure approaches... What they dont tell you is that the outter dry is much less important than the "inner of the bud" rh, like i measured 35% outter and like 68 inner the buds, which is still fine to jar in my brief experience. Am i making sense? does any of this matter? 🚀

@CRiSPrGrow, hey, yeah man it's a shame. I really thought my drying room was at optimum conditions but it just wanted to be spongy. I'm still learning every day. Constantly reading things like the grow bible, Jorge Cervantes. God knows how long my ph pen has been out but I've thrown it away and invested in a really expensive PH tester that should be much more reliable. I'm hoping this means I can give these haze berry a perfect medium for the final 2 weeks. The colas are huge bud so look a tad soft so another 2 perfect weeks on nutes and they should fatten up.

@Thee_HoffGuyy, cheers man. It's strange. Looks so similar to everything else. Even the stem stiffness. Keep an eye on it and let me know what strain you think it is.

hey man , you're the second person i see with an auto instead of a photo... you didnt buy them from canuk seeds did you? that's what the other grower did, that's why I asked. 🚀

@CRiSPrGrow, hey! No this is a gift grow from royal queen seeds directly. It was James who asked me to do a diary for them and sent me the seeds. All packed in a fem packet. I'm thinking I've got a rogue auto seed. Not too much of a problem but I did want to veg them out a bit longer.

Nice growth in a short period of time.

TheIceCreamParlourcommented6 years ago
@GreenHouseLab, yeah they are quick in veg and the stems are extremely thick already. I have a blackberry vegging along side them and it's not even half the size. I really think the Co2 and full spectrum from the CMHs pushes the early growth.
