Finally getting around to popping these Fat Banana from RQS. Been really looking forward to getting these going but just haven't had the room. All gerned with no problems at all using the soak then paper towel technique.
At the moment they are under a 125w CFL but will be moved under a 400w MH in time.
In biobizz light mix with a little extra perlite and being fed canna rhizotonic 4ml/l at 6.pH
Fat Banana doubles in size this week and starts to develop some true leaves. Taken out of the humidity dome & moved a lot closer to the CFL now, roughly 4-5 inches.
Roots looking healthy and developing nicely, will be transplanting in the coming week to a slightly larger pot when I'll also introduce some 1/4 strength veg nutes.
Fat banana cominh along very nicely after their mid week transplant in to a slightly larger pot. Still under the 125w CFL at the moment but will be going un the 400/600w MH soon, struggling for space at the moment.
Not a lot to report but they are coming along very nicely, very healthy plants.
Repotted the fat banana to slightly larger pots again this week, about 2.5l and they are now under a 600w MH and the growth is ramping up.
They have also been topped this week and will have a little lst later in the week.
Have now started introducing low strength feeding (remo) and they are loving it.
All going great so far this grow.
The girls have been transplanted to their final pots now and will veg out for about another 10 days to 2 weeks.
Roots are looking very healthy and I'm convinced it's from the biosys, definitely a product I'd recommend.
I've unfortunately had some spacing issues so the 4 fat banana have ended up in a little temporary tent under a 600w Mars LED whilst I wait for my proper tent to be empty, not ideal but I messed my timings up. Changed the light cycle to 16/8 as well, I just like to drop it slightly before the full flip to 12/12
Done a little bit of super cropping on the main stems this week as well. Which they've bounced straight back feom
Say what you want about Mars and other blurple lights but for veg they do a decent job. As you can see from last week till now the girls have gone crazy!
Still in the temporary tent unfortunately while I wait to harvest the glueberry.
Plans for the week ahead are a bit of defoliating and take a few cuttings.
Finally got the flowering tent available for the fat banana so here they are in their new home and under brand new lights. 1.2x1.2m tent and 2 x Invisible Sun LED ISH265 quantum boards.
Flipped to flower this week and started on flowering nutes from remo.
Not much happening in the tent this week. Very little stretch under the quantum boards, not sure if that's normal as this is my first time flowering under them. Top right plant in the tent is definitely a bit of a runt, wish I had something to replace her with.
Have the girls a good defoliation this week, I want all that energy going up top to the big buds.
I've added green planet massive to the feed this week as well after hearing about it on the dude grows show.
Buds are starting to swell this week, the lollipopping has definitely helped to divert energy up top where its needed.
Some bad news though I've spotted a few spider mite! Used a bit of crop guard SM on them whilst waiting for predator mites to turn up. Horrible little f#ckers!

I've gotten a little behind with the diary updates lately (a teething 1 year old really messes with your routine)
I've had an unfortunate spidermite out brake a couple of weeks ago but was caught early and predator mites have taken care of the problem, really don't know where they come from.
I've had to up the CalMag this week as 2 of the plants were showing deficiencies but was expecting that at some point as I've been told by several growers when you go full LED to up CalMag.
The buds are getting pretty dense now, the lower temps with the quantum boards are definitely helping.

I've missed a week on the diary as there's really not much happening at this stage of the grow.
Had a spider mite outbreak but that was quickly dealt with using predator mites.
Still getting used to the quantum boards and have found that the plants need extra CalMag when using them, luckily I had a bottle of vitalink here anyway so that's sorted that issue. I've also upped the bloom nutes by 1ml/l to solve a bit of a potassium deficiency on 1 of the plants.
The plants are stinking now and the buds are very dense! Think it's down to the QBs and lower temps while using them.
There's about 2-3 weeks to go on this grow.
She's a nice stone, quite energetic at first but then she kicks in properly and chills me right out.
I will say when growing watch out for hermaphrodite plants, 3 out of the 4 plants had slight herm issues in the last week of flush, I think it was due to light leaks in the previous week. Luckily this was too late in the grow to have any effect and I only found 1 seed when trimming.
She was a pretty easy grow. She didn't have a great start due to me having to squash 4 plants in to a 70x70 tent towards the end of veg under pretty poor lighting.
They soon bounced back under the quantum boards in flower though.
The only issue I had with the grow was slight magnesium deficiency towards the end of flower and 3 out of 4 plants herming in the last week of flush, luckily this was too late to effect the grow (I found 1 seed when trimming) I also believe this issue was caused by quite a bad light leak, I basically left a side vent open without thinking and had a light on outside there.
She yielded well and stinks, the buds have real "bag appeal" and due to a good lollipopping every single bud is a respectable size, smallest is the size of my thumb nail bit not fluffy at all. Biggest problem I had was running out of jars!
Would definitely recommend this strain, good work Royal Queen Seeds.
@James, cheers James. Glad I can finally get them started, know a few people who have smoked this strain already and have raved about it so really excited about getting her done.
hey bro,
nice grow! 💪
one thing though.. what signs of hermieism did you get? I mainly grow RQS and never had an issue of this sort growing from feminized seeds
Enjoy your smoke 👊
