Day 1-7
Germinated in a glass of water and planted really deep into the ground. Wanted to test if that would help the roots get deeper more quickly, but I couldn't notice any (at least positive) effect.
All in all kind of slow growth in the first week, but fine since she is a photoperiod.
Day 8-14
Her second week came with the new year and me being away stopped me from taking many pictures or keeping everything perfectly dialed in.
Her growth started to really slow down and even at the end of the week, she still didn't have any roots in the reservoir.
On top of being slow itself, her leaves also stayed super small, barely being larger than the first two.
If this would have been an auto, I would have been really disappointed at this point in time. But I know with some patience she can still turn out great :)🌱
Day 22-28
The nutrients were a bit too high during the first 3 weeks (stems of fan leaves were red), but since she's a photoperiod I didn't feel like doing much to slightly fasten up her growth and chose to wait until she drank ~2L to replace it with tap water. After doing that on day 22, her ppm landet at 700 (also influenced by CalMag, Silicate and Hydrogen Peroxide) which is perfectly fine for me and considering her following health also for the Runtz Muffin.
She grows kind of slow upwards, but seems to put more energy into the massive, thick and healthy fan leaves and the exploding lower branches.
I will most likely top her at the end of day 29, with 8 nodes remaining and start flowering after week 5 veg, while training with a Scrog net.
All in all looking great, super excited for how she turns out :)🌱
Day 29-35
Topped her on day 29.
She grew well, but could have been faster and showed some signs of being unhappy. I hadn't tested her water for 5 days and it was easy to notice what was wrong. Her ppm were at ~550 with nutrient ratios from first true leaves. Almost surprising how good she did with that.
I changed it to regular growing nutrients while staying at half the recommended dosage/getting to 850 ppm with pH 6.0.
This was on day 33 and she did significantly better since then.
I also kept on Lollipopping her.
I will start her flowering period on day 36 with decreasing the light time by 1,5 hours every day until I reach 12 hours of light. Around day 38 will be when I install the Scrog net.
Day 36-42
Runtz Muffin and I started the week as planned with cutting her daytime by 90 minutes on day 36 and another 90 minutes on day 37.
I wanted to start flowering because Runtz Muffin is supposed to have a heavy stretch, getting to 1,5 m indoor height with 4 weeks of veg.
But on day 38 I got insecure and rather wanted to have one more week of veg than having regrets afterwards.
So in conclusion, I decided to back out of flower until week 7 starts.
I changed the light schedule to 20/4 to stop flowering and reduced it to 19/5 on day 39 and 18/6 on day 40.
On day 39 I did a big defoliation and started training her with ties before she gets to the Scrog net.
She bounced back really strong with thick, healthy leaves.
She had also build up a massive amount of roots, filling most of the bucket already.
I didn't take a picture, but I spotted some unwanted pistils on day 40 which kind of surprised me since she only had 2 shorter days.
In order to get more growth out of her before she starts to stop growing, I increased the light intensity from ~600 to ~700 PPFD and accordingly adapted her nutrients to ~ 950 ppm (including H2O2, CalMag and Silicate).
On day 42 I noticed some burnt leave tips and a slight brightening of her newest growth, so I decided to refill with only water until she's back down to 800 ppm. I won't adjust anything else though, because it is pretty likely that this is caused by her going into bloom (definitely the brightening) and needing different ratios.
All in all a chaotic week with as good growth, as you can expect with a dazed plant.
Week 7 will be started with reducing light to 16/8, then 14/10 and finally 12/12.
Day 43-49
First real week of flowering!
She grew really well, significantly starting to stretch while building healthy and massive leaves, followed by rising new branches.
The slightly burned tips disappeared. I guess the nutrients were just a little too much and are now fine since she started flowering.
Growing as dense as she is, I don't have a choice but to lollipop a lot.
Because I am aiming for big colas, I am going to let her grow until she stops stretching and then lollipop. By doing that, I hope to be able to lollipop almost perfectly while not letting the plant feel like she has to grow more branches instead of bud sites.
She drinks about 2L per day, getting refilled daily with the preflowering blend (1 : 1 : 0,75) at ~800-850 ppm, slowly adapting the total nutrients. I thought about increasing the ppm, but since she seems so healthy and happy, i am going to wait until she shows more hunger.
She was tucked under the Scrog net multiple times, but is now pretty much finished with it. Almost all of the remaining training will be done with LST above the net.
The roots have become monstrous and don't even let me stir the bucket while she is in it. I always have to lower the entire reservoir (seen in a photo of week 6). Even added a third air stone to keep her oxygenated.
Day 50-56
Not much to say. She is growing along absolutely beautifully with no issues what so ever.
Her thirst has gone up a lot, to ~3L per day. I still feed her with the preflowering blend at ~850-900ppm.
LST has been applied above the Scrog net and given her a width of about 70cm now.
Extremely excited to see her get into later flower :)🌿
