Oldschool vibes and fizzy drinks: Acapulco Gold and Mimosa evo
Welcome to my first run of 2025 wohooo! 😁✌️Since my last run was on the heavy side, my stash will soon be filled with really strong and dank flower. Which will help me in getting through the grey winter months. So this run will define my stash for spring and a big part of the summer 2025. For the sunny and warmer months i like to have some lighter, citrusy tastes and more of a cerebral high. Thats why i decided to go with Acapulco Gold from Barneys farm. I wanted to run AG since forever because i love oldschool strains which are still potent enough to give me a nice buzz.
And because i had no other strain which matches the flowertime of Acapulco Gold, i popped some Mimosa evo beans alongside them. So this time it'll be a double barneys grow. The AG beans are really old, they are from 2016 (never order on that site again). I'll pop all 5 of them and hope that at least three will germinate.
🍊 MIMOSA EVO (CannaConnection.com) 🍊
Genetics: Indica-dominant (60%)
Parents: Purple Punch x Mimosa
THC: 25%
CBD: Low
Smell & flavour: Berry, Citrus, Lemon, Orange
Effect: Happy, Uplifting
Mimosa Evo: A Hard-Hitting, Fruity Variety
Mimosa Evo is a powerful cannabis strain known for its long-lasting, electrifying euphoric effect. With 24% THC (sometimes a little more), it's a high-potency strain best reserved for experienced users or those capable of surrendering to her almost psychedelic buzz. Despite her potential to grow tall outdoors, Mimosa Evo is a manageable plant that can easily be tamed to grow shorter in tents or rooms with limited space. Her genetic background (Purple Punch and Mimosa) give Mimosa Evo very stable characteristics, while her rich combination of terpenes results in a luxurious, tangy aroma of citrus fruit.
Aroma, Flavour, and Effect of Mimosa Evo: Strap Yourself in for a Wild Ride
Countless strain descriptions mention the word "euphoria". Indeed, many cannabis strains produce an uplifted, elevated, and euphoric state of mind. Mimosa Evo, however, goes far beyond that, producing a truly invigorating high. While experienced users with a high THC tolerance might cherish these effects, it's worth noting that Mimosa Evo can easily overwhelm the not-so-seasoned smoker. Reminiscent of her parent strains, Mimosa Evo has a strong, refreshing citrus aroma and a sweet, citrusy flavour with hints of berries. [...]
I chose the Mimosa evo, because i really love purple punch and the combination with Clementine seemed like a tasty combo. And a high which is described as "active and euphoric" sounds like a perfect match for the long, hot and sunny days in summer.
🌞 ACAPULCO GOLD 🌞 (CannaConnection.com)
Parents: Landrace from Mexico
THC: Medium
CBD: Low
Smell & flavour: Sweet, Musky, Earthy, Spicy
Effects: Energetic, Alert, Uplifting, Cerebral
[...] Flowing over the Mexico–US border in the 1960s and 1970s, Acapulco Gold became an instant favourite among hippies and other members of the counterculture. Today, Acapulco Gold is a lot scarcer, though it occasionally finds its way onto dispensary shelves. When it does, it usually doesn’t last very long, as its legendary status and scarcity keep Acapulco Gold in very high demand among recreational and medical users alike. Legend has it that Acapulco Gold became so popular among students of Columbia University in the 1970s that some students organised a dedicated smuggling route from Acapulco to New York City.
After rising to fame among smokers in the 60s and 70s, Acapulco Gold was listed by High Times as #5 on its 1977 Top 40 strain selection. Years later, in 2010, Acapulco Gold also won a High Times Cannabis Cup.
Aroma and Flavour of Acapulco Gold: Sweetness and Spice
Acapulco Gold has a complex and unique aroma and flavour profile that sets it apart from other strains. Its pungent scent is dominated by earthy overtones mixed with hints of spice, citrus, and rich toffee/honey-like sweetness. The strain's flavour is similar, with a sweet, earthy taste and a hint of spice.
The terpene profile of Acapulco Gold is dominated by caryophyllene, a spicy terpene found in black pepper and other dark spices. Myrcene is another dominant terpene found in Acapulco Gold that may contribute to the musky, earthy aroma of the strain. Limonene is the third most prominent terpene in Acapulco Gold. With a fresh, vibrant citrus aroma, limonene likely contributes to Acapulco Gold’s light lemon aroma/flavour. [...]
I always wanted to grow some Acapulco Gold, because its such a legendary strain i heard a lot about. I never have been able to get my hands on some, so i'll grow some myself. Its that easy 😁
I imagine it to be the perfect summer strain, when you see the world through sunglasses, wear shorts and have a cold drink on a searing hot day. Seems like a great daytime strain and i'm very hyped for this run. I just got a good feeling about this strain. It has a rich and cool history, seens to still be kind of "original", has a good potency and sounds delicious. Whats not to love about that? There is a certain vibe about the good old days and i'm so ready for that kind of stoner nostalgia!
I want to run 5 plants max in my tent, but for now i hope for a minimum of 4 plants total. The Acapulco Gold seeds are so old, i hope they'll germinate! And If more than 5 seeds germinate, i'm gonna give them to a friend. But that would be luck! We'll see! Fingers crossed 😁
Have a nice weekend, thank you for checking in and happy growing! Much love, Herb💚
Welcome to the first week of this run!
I was so worried that none of the Acapulco Gold beans would germinate, because the seller (not barneys) sent me 10 year old seeds. How wrong i've been. ALL of my seeds made it so far, which means that 3 seedlings will move to my buddys house as soon as they are a bit bigger.
Thats great news! So the plan now is to let them get comfy in the starter pots and then move up to a 4l containersize, chill there for a week and then do the final repot into their 15l forever home. And we'll see how we gonna proceed from there.
Up to a good start i'd say! Thanks to all of you for checking out my diary, liking and commenting. Its so much fun to hang out here with you guys and share the love and passion about growing and weed. I appreciate it a lot!
Have a very nice weekend, toke on some killer weed and many good moments! See you next week! Much love💚🌱🌞🍀
Welcome to week two in the life of the little AG und Mimosa seedlings. I decided to keep three AG und two ME plants. The rest will get good care in a friends garden.
So we officially gonna start with five plants and so i replanted the chosen five into 4l pots. I'll keep them in there for a few days until they are big enough to transplant in the 15l forever home.
They develop good so far and look lively and lush. So i'm quite confident with the remaining ladies and hope for a chill vegphase.
I'm not gonna feed the plants until a few days after the final repot. I used lightmix for the 0.3l pots and am now using the allmix which has more than enough nutrients for the first few weeks. I water them twice a week with some rootjuice/bioheaven to feed to soil and the microbes.
I hope they'll get comfy in the new pots and love their life and continue to become bigger and stronger. 😊 So we just let them do their thing! Have a very nice weekend fellow growmies, toke on some nice homegrown and celebrate that january will be over soon. Take care and happy growing 🙌🌱🌞🍀
Welcome to week number three in my first run of 2025! Thank god that january is finally over! Felt like a year😂
So the little seedlings have become real plants in the meantime. Sooo we gonna repot again! I grabbed some BioBizz Allmix and five 16l fabric pots and got a new home ready. While repotting one of the Mimosas crumbled and i think maybe i damaged some roots . But shes potted and we'll see how she reacts.
The others seem to take the transplanting really chill. They are currebtly spreading their little green wings and loving life. So nice to see. I watered them and added some extra acti vera to help them with the transplanting stress.
But we got 5 plants potted in their final home, so we plug in the second light. And now we are ready to plan the veg phase. Last run went so well, i think i'll just try to have a similar result and i'd be more than happy. So i'm just gonna repeat the strategy from last run.
That means we gonna let the plants chill until they are on node 6 and then we set up a mainline on node 3. After that we'll top again at 4 nodes, give them a few days to make 8 colas and then switch to flower. And that may take as long as it takes.
So thats the gameplan for now i guess. Memo for myseld: If Mimosa #2 wouldn't make it i could switch the humidifier with Mimosa #1 and save some electricity and reduce the heat. Could be an option.
So with that I'll report back in a week. I wish you a chill and cozy first february weekend! Thank you so much for checking out my diary, hanging out and being wonderful human beings. Cheers and happy growing 🌱🌞🍀
Welcome to week number 4!
Last week the ladies moved to their new and final home. They had a week to settle in and today i gave them a brand new haircut!
I hope they are gonna take it well. One of the Mimosas was a bit droopy, but i decided not to spare her and see what happens. Its the plant i damaged during the repot. Lets hope she bounces back and if not its not the end of the world.
So i let them heal for and top them again at 4 nodes, let them recover and then flower is up. So far so good! Have a nice weekend! 😁
Welcome to week number 5 of this lovely barneys farm run. I set up the mainline a week ago and they have recovered very good since then! All of the plants bounced back and are just working on node nr. 4 on each of the two branches.
But since i want to see what i can get away with, i just did the second topping. Normaly I'd wait a few more days, but i'm away a few days so i just did it today to save some time (maybe, hopefully).
So the next stop on this run would be to let them go another two weeks max until we got some good setup for the colas and then hit the switch to 12/12. I'm quite happy with the plants so far and i just broke one branch until now. Yay!
We'll see how it goes. So i wish you guys a very peaceful chill weekend and some nice homegrown green to toke on! Best of luck for all your gardening projects, thanks for reading this, thank you for being such good company on this grow and happy growing! See you next week 💚🌱🌞🍀💚
