Hey folks, a bunch of new stuff to try out here. First time growing with autopots and also with living soil. Oh and with GHF Nutrients. I think I can't avoid adding some extra nuts for the long flower period of that strain. 1 of the autopots is premixed with 50% herbis living soil - 50% perlite and 3g/L soil of GHF BioGrow. Just in case the living soil isn't enough. If any of them will fail, I'll take a clone and stick for the successful approach. The light is running 24h right now with 25%. Tomorrow I'll switch to 18/6 with ~65-75%. Thanks for joining. Happy new year grow

The 4th week of veg starts with some trouble. One of the laughing buddha's is showing some deficiencies. If I would guess then there must be some pH issues with the tap water. She seems to can't uptake the nutrients. Anyway I can be wrong and if someone here could help me out to identify the issue, I'd be pleased. Now on day 24 i removed the sick leaves and she is showing some signs of recovery. On day 25 I can clearly see that she is recovering and will be healthy soon i hope:)

The day I wanted to switch to 12/12 was when I detected some fungus gnats :/ so I made a good neemoil spray and switched the day after to bloom and all the fungus gnats are gone for now. I'll apply neemoil on day 8 and 15 of bloom and thats it. Today on day 7 of bloom I turned off the autopot system. I will prepare a top feeding with BioBloom for all plants and give them a good watering with enhancer. 2-3 days later I'll turn on the autopot system again. While the stretching phase I won't defoliate. Only LST and ScrOGing. Another thing is I bought a pH meter and figured out that my water is at 8.3 pH which clarifies the nutrient uptake problem I noticed. For now I adjusted the pH with vinegar to 6.3. I ordered some ph - though

On day 8 I turned off the autopot and top fed the girls on day 10 with BioBloom and gave em a good watering with enhancer, today on day 12 I top watered another time and turned on the autopot again. Both of the laughing buddha's are beginning to form flowers and are looking nice. Later today when the lights turns off, I'll apply the 2nd neemoil spray. The other 2 plants are different strains and can be found in separate diaries. After lights switched off on day 12, i applied another neemoil spray (2nd time now). Maybe I'll apply another neemoil spray in a week. Will decide it then.

Today is day 15 and the first day of the 3rd flower week. The laughing buddhas are almost done with stretching but I'll wait another few days until I start defo. There is another thing changed on day 15: I upgraded my inline duct fan to a mars hydro 6" / 150 and also got the controller 43 (the price is good and gives me finally more control over my environment and more precise data to log. This week I'll water only and at the beginning of week 4 I'll start to apply plagron green sensation. (notice to myself: never say something like this before:D) Defo/Lolly was on day 17 Day 18 the autopot tank was filled with calmag and green sensation. Day 20 nearing the end of week 3 everything looks good and healthy so far. I'm thinking about to turn off the autopot later today and on day 22 top water with enhancer. Unsure about this but if you don't try you'll never know if it works out :)

Well the plants are looking good for the 4th flower week. One thing is really annoying... I have fungus gnats. I'm fighting em since I first noticed some and they were gone for a few weeks and now at the beginning of week 4 they came back :( I immediately turned off the autopot system. Hand watered with neemoil. Placed yellow traps on each pot to see if they get reduced or not. I also placed one circulation fan to blow it in the direction of the soil to let it dry faster. Another step I did is to clean the autopot tank. We will see if this helps. I know that there are better solutions to treat this little fkrs but that's the stuff I had already at home. I'm also thinking about to cover the top soil with perlite. Maybe someone can tell me if this helps somehow. So the girls are all good and aren't showing any signs of deficiencies for now. As the plants are adult, the fungus gnats shouldn't do much damage and if I can handle this situation fast (right now the population of the gnats isn't too high, kinda medium) the plants will survive it without any real damage I hope.

If you have a look into my laughing Buddha diary (week 9), you'll find a description of my strategy and maybe someone can give me any advice what I can optimize.

IPM = Integrated Pest Management Preemptive management of pests before they become a thing. BTi or Nematoads are great options for managing Fungus Gnats. it works and works well, its also very safe and cheep. Just add it into your feeding/fertilizing regime and it will never be a problem ever again. once every month or week depends how many you have. I use nematodes as it works for me, but BTi is equally effective. Same kinda thing can be done for mites and thrips, some use chemicals others use predator bugs all depends whats available for you. As for your treatment plan there is some big holes in it. They can crawel though perlite, so that won't work and Neem is not as good as it used to be. Its shown to be toxic to humans and have some other bad effects like carcinogenic potential. Need has been adviced by Canada to not be sprayed or used on any crops humans may ingest. It also does not kill them outright it just fucks with their mind and makes them not want to breed. Get some nematodes or better yet BTi and put it in a nylon stocking/sock inside the reservoir. They will be dead in a weeks time. My grow shop sells BTi in little beads that are meant to be sprinkled on top of the medium or in a res. Can also get it in liquid form, Keep using sticky traps as monitoring tools not cures to the problem. Good Luck!

Looking good. What is that brown thing on the stem of the plant? You apparently use it for LST? Can you buy them or is it homemade?

Its your watering habbits. In soil normally you dont need extra calcium. You dont have wet dry cycle, aka overwatering , aka watering while pot was still moist. Sort this, that will sort rest....
AsNoriu
AsNoriucommented2 months ago
This one is suffocated, roots lack oxygen, constant moist soil drifts ph , then all troubles starts. Next time choose coco if you don't want to care about watering volume or frequency, at least i would. Even looking at top lair of soil its all rusty and damp, help this plant to establish herself, by manual watering for few wet/dry cycles, then connect to your watering system. Page dont show notifications about messages. I grew in soil very long, most probably did more mistakes than anyone else, so i speak from my experience.

I'm using an autopot system. I only watered with enhancer from top after transplanting into the autopot. I did the same with the other 3 plants and they seem healthy for now.
