Great week. This plant started flowering slowly and is responding to training and supplemental lighting very well. Added bloom nutes to the mix from this week on and at increased dosage compared to previous grows.

Grow Questions

On my other grows I've had some issues with pests. The worst was white powdery mold, but I've also seen leaf miners, aphids etc. I want to treat this plant pre-emptively with something like BioNeem. Is it safe to do that at this stage of bloom? Can you recommend safe alternative

It's not recommended to spray your plant once in flowering , and the neem oil is efficient but isn't ling lasting so you'll have to go back to spraying soon and frequently so I would not recommend to start now , btw you should have started way before and to stop it today. Against fungus you can use a milk spray with 9 part water and 1 part milk , it's helping with most of the fungus to stop the propagation. Oh and you can also use diatomaceous to keep some bugs away ( Google it )

Hi @Quexos, @OutForRealbeanCarib, @Mrs_Larimar, @Experimentgreen I would appreciate some advice while planning my new grow area for indoor. My objective for this area is to cycle through autos and clones of photos (*) 3-4times a year. I want to perfect the recipe, and experiment so don't care about absolute max yield. I have a storage space with 1.8Γ—1.06x2.4m dimensions. The walls have damp issues that I dont think i could resolve adequately for a grow area, so probably need to put a tent in. The issues with tent is that the standard dimensions don't make optimal use of space, (1Γ—1m) seems the best option. My idea for this would be to prioritise smaller space with absolute control over environmental factors rather than trying for bigger space. It might be possible to make the full space airtight with a mylar cover, but my gut says that this would end up more expensive in long run and better to stick to proven basics. For lights my budget is $200-$300. I'm considering something along these line (**)s: https://bestvaled.com/products/bestva-elite-2000w-led-grow-light-reflector-full-spectrum-grow-lamp-for-greenhouse-hydroponic-indoor-plants-veg-and-flower - this is 400w real draw from outlet so assume it should be possible to yield 150-200g per cycle with 4-6 plants This is possibly a bit overkill for 1x1m space, but I believe the par values should support stronger growth during bloom compared to cheaper chinese leds eg king plus etc. Any thoughts or ideas? Can you recommend any better lighting options in this budget range? (*) I also have a 4x2m outdoor greenhouse that I will be using in summer to grow larger photos. (**) @OutForRealbeanCaribCarribean, one of your comments on a different question sent me deep into the rathole of now researching quantum boards :) Are those practical for a grow environment at this scale / price range? Thank you!

@smurgrow, that is awesome i love outdoor. They have some cool fabric pots that are like raised beds...either the big bag bed by smart pots or maybe a geo bed or geo pot version that has pvc pipe support. Those would give a good amount of root space

@Experimentgreen, the plan is to alternate and ensure that there are only autos / photos /clones in the space at one time. I think photos do make sense, both because of higher yield but also more thc. Going full on with tent env controls and bloom lights definitely make this a better option. I will adapt accordingly. Dont think I'll need separate veg area at this scale. I got super lucky with an upstairs balcony that has 4x2x1.6m area for outdoor photos so can do some big plants outside for yield in season and have more than i can use while learning.

@Quexos, thank you! The QB options seem very promising. My thinking is to do a cycle of autos in the space, them harvest and switch to clones. Not run them at the same time. I'll go with a tent to combat the damp to be safe.

@OutForReal, thank you for the detailed answer! Is itt safe for the 9:1 dilution of milk to be sprayed on the bud itself or better to avoid?
OutForReal
OutForRealcommented6 years ago
@smurgrow, Yeah bro Hydrogen peroxide for a quick bud wash or you can go with a water curing but it is a whole different process and will change the outcome weight and appearance ( Google check that method, I personally doing it when ... I wanna πŸ˜… but it's not what I prefer to smoke ). And for your actual grow there is a time consuming method that will not harm your buds : spray a tissue and carefully apply the mix where you need to on the plant ( prepare some music, munchies and a spliff because it's not quick )

@OutForReal, thank you :) For this grow it's mostly prevention, but my other grows are impacted and some have imminent harvest that may need some work on the buds. I see some people bathe the buds in a Hydrogen peroxide solution after harvest which is last ditch resort. Will see once I get the product under the microscope.

@OutForReal, Thank you! So I'm coming from two angles (in the one case looking to prevent mildew on this new plant and in the other I need to control mildew that is spreading just before harvest).

Hey @Smurgrow! Sorry to hear about your issue. I have had powdery mildew in my grows before. I have always used Trifecta Crop Control, Its basically essential oils (garlic, cinnamon, mint, etc.) that have anti-fungal/mold properties. It comes from plants and organic stuff we eat, its totally safe to consume because it is just organic essential oils and so forth. There is no need to topically expose your plant to animal byproducts, which are themselves susceptible to bacteria. Please don't put milk on your plants, ever; Don't use diluted milk even as a wetting agent But the trifecta will be fine at this stage if you act soon. The only threat to the bud would be areas that can harbor moisture, resulting in bud rot and other nasties no nos.

I hate when that happens. Would you consider performing a half/partial harvest to let the others catch up?
