Welcome Back to My 2025 Grow Journal! Hello my Gromies, after growing only FastBuds automatics last year, this season is all about classic, controlled growing: I’m switching to photoperiod strains from Dutch Passion! My choices are Blueberry (Indica) and Durban Poison (Sativa) – two varieties praised not only for their flavors but also for their resilience in Germany’s climate. Let’s dive into the details! Why Dutch Passion and Photoperiod Strains? Automatics were convenient last year, but 2025 is about precision and control. With photoperiod plants, I can dictate the growth phase, train the plants strategically, and maximize their potential. Dutch Passion is known for stable genetics that thrive even in unpredictable weather – perfect for outdoor growing in Germany. The Star Strains Durban Poison – Sativa Power with African Roots - Flowering Time: 8 weeks (short for a pure Sativa). - THC Content: 10–15% – balanced for daytime use. - Height Challenge: Expected to reach 3–4 meters. To manage growth, I’ll use low-stress training (LST) and topping to keep plants compact without sacrificing yield. Goal: A robust outdoor harvest – though anything over Germany’s legal limit of 50 grams per plant will be responsibly disposed of. Blueberry – The Iconic Indica with Flavor to Match - Flowering Time: 9 weeks – ideal for developing deep purple buds and sweet berry aromas. - THC Content: 15–20% – that should be for evening sessions and relaxation - Height: They can reach up to 3 meters. I also try to control the height with some topping and LST - Why This Strain? As a fan of Blueberry hybrids, I’m eager to grow the original. Its compact size also helps it blend discreetly among my tomato plants. Bonus: Dutch Passion claims this strain handles cooler temperatures well – a plus for Central European summers. The Setup: From Windowsill to Garden - Pre-Growing: Seedlings will be started indoors under grow lights until mid-May to ensure strong early development. - Training: I plan to top the plants at least twice to encourage bushy growth, combined with LST to maintain manageable heights. - Fertilization: I’m using homemade compost from garden waste—sustainable, nutrient-rich, and beneficial for both cannabis and tomatoes. - Compost Preparation: I set up my compost in early March and boosted its activity by adding horn shavings, rock dust (Urgesteinsmehl), a potassium–magnesium supplement (Kalimagnesium), lime nitrogen fertilizer (Kalkstickstoff), and lawn lime (Rasenkalk), along with effective microorganisms. These amendments help accelerate the composting process and enrich the soil with essential nutrients. - Location: The plants will be placed in an area enriched by my compost. I’m mixing the native soil with Biobizz All-Mix in a 50/50 ratio, and I’m adding some Biobizz Tabs and mycorrhizae to further boost soil life. I’m committed to a 100% biological approach, keeping fertilizer additions minimal to let nature take its course. Join the Conversation and be a part of my growjourney Have you experimented with Dutch Passion strains or discovered effective strategies for outdoor cannabis cultivation in Germany? I’d love to hear your insights. What fertilization techniques have proven most successful for you, and how do you manage the height of your Sativas outdoors? As always, all suggestions and tips are welcome, and I’m excited to share this growing experience with the community. Stay tuned for more updates. Smoking_Joe_Frazier
